Staff at the hotel were very nice and accommodating. Location is close to everything. Rooms were beautiful and bed was very comfortable. They stored our luggage so we could enjoy the day in Stonetown before heading to the east coast. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Zanzibar.

I have been to Stone Town a number of times and can confidently say that this is the best all around place to stay. Every member of staff is personable, helpful and happy, the rooms are outstanding, clean, incredibly well maintained. Breakfasts on the balcony are a wonderful way to start the day. Credit to everyone involved.

Service at the hotel is truly for recommendation! The staff is extremely friendly and the hotel manager very nice and professional. They're even kept our luggage after checkout, and when we returned to Stone Town after a five-day tour of Zanzibar, they accepted to keep our luggage until the late flight. Since we were no longer their guests that day, it is really laudable how much they helped us with this and how much they appreciate that we chose them for our three-day stay in Stone Town. Truly for every recommendation! The rooms are neat and decent in size, the fruit at breakfast is always fresh, the nutella pancakes are sweet and delicious. The location of the hotel is great for visiting the city and all the attractions, really close to everything and we will definitely recommend them to our friends. 😊

We found ourselves as from usa being in the minority for tourists. We have traveled extensively .Three items that are most important in a stay is clean, hot water and internet. hot was if you turn faucet down will do ok. wifi was decent. Service was probably one of the best we've had. The decor was genuine. If we ever go back to Zanzibar i wouldn't stay anywhere else.

I stayed in this lovely Hotel for 2 nights early September, as part of a bigger trip starting from Stone Town, to Tanzania, then back to another part of Zanzibar. The two lovely men at reception were so polite and helpful, and Santos is always present. Such a polite, approachable gentleman. It did not go unnoticed that he remembers all guests names, greeting them wherever he sees them within the Hotel. Breakfast was homely and fresh. Generally the practice across Zanzibar is to 'choose from a list' so please do not expect it to be a buffet where you pick absolutely everything you want (and sadly often we waste far too much!). Coffee is self-service and fruits. They very kindly kept my suitcase, while I spent 2 nights away in Tanzania on my Safari with a much smaller bag of items only needed for the Safari portion of my trip. My driver collected this for me, once he then picked me back up from the airport upon my return & I went to Paje side of Zanzibar. My room had all that I needed - and please understand you don't need much! You need a clean bed, some space and basic amenities! It served its purpose fully, for the budget I wanted to spend in my short time in Stone Town is was great, and wifi was absolutely fine. It was walking distance easily all around Stone Town, and safe, even though it can get dark and very narrow small streets! My tour guide kindly got me a SIM card & some data, which I only turned on for using Maps to walk about at night (where you might lose your bearings a little!). Everywhere else, I used wifi to save Data.

We recently spent 2 nights at Al Minar. It’s location on an atmospheric side street is perfect and close to everything. The owner is very hands on and ensures everything is working well. He’s a great character and good to chat to. The rooms have bags of atmosphere and the whole place is spotlessly clean. A perfect choice in every respect x

Very friendly and accomodating staff led by Santosh. Our flight arrived way to early than check in time but they made us feel so welcome. Juma greeted us and suggested places where we can go to. Santosh personally introduced himself and we observed how he builds good rapport with all other guests.

Rooms are quite small, with a tea-pot and tea/coffee. Every evening the staff uses repellent on windows. Sebastian met us so friendly at the reception when we arrived, and was always ready to help. We liked our breakfast too, pancakes and juice were good. There are many cafes and restaurants near, so the location is nice.

As I was only expecting to be in my room to sleep and shower, I ask"t looking for. articled out and expensive hotel. Al-Minar was a perfect fit, very reasonable price for a clean and comfortable room, a made to order breakfast on the scenic rooftop and a ground zero location in the center of Stone Town. The manager Abbazz expressed ongoing interest in how my stay was was, and I appreciated his effort and attitude. He recommended a local Indian restaurant that lived up to his billing. When I needed a bit of a later checkout, he was accommodating. I'm very pleased with Al Minar.
