We travelled to Stone Town to get married following a safari in the Masai Mara, we arrived by taxi in the narrow streets and then walked approx 150 mtrs to the hotel, as you round the corner you come across this wonderful old former merchants house. We got married whilst in Stone Town, it was organised before we went so...

<Ahsante Sana!> for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. And thank you for choosing Emerson Spice to stay at on such an amazing occasion as your marriage. Congratulations! We were so happy to host your 'Wedding Dinner' in The Teahouse afterwards; such an honour! As you say, one can't drive to the door of the hotel, but...

Best customer service I have witnessed in Zanzibar. Aside from the beautifully detailed decoration and lovely rooftop view, the wonderful staff - cooking, cleaning and reception - really makes this place special everyday.

Dear Alex, Wow! Thank you so much for writing such a rave review of our Team here at Emerson Spice! And thank you too for mentioning the Chefs and the Housekeepers who often get left out of the accolades. The housekeeping ladies, Umi and Jamilla, especially asked me to say <Ahsante Sana Rafiki!> We hope to welcome you back very...

We cannot rave about this place enough. A friend told me that in his opinion this is THE place to stay in Stone Town and we totally agree. The manager, Russell was friendly, professional and super helpful. The staff are warm, welcoming and excellent at their jobs. The building is gorgeous with exquisite décor. And the 5 course meal on...

Dear Maggie, Thank you so, so much for taking the time and trouble to write such a flattering, (it will get you everywhere!), review. It was such a pleasure to have you and Kieran staying with us and we're so glad you were able to celebrate your birthday in style: staying in Kate with it's two terraces and al fresco...

This jewel of Stone Town has to be in everybody's itinerary. You can't leave Zanzibar without experienced this absolute lovely and unique hotel or at least a dinner at the roof top restaurant. We're so proud at being described as "a lovely jewel of Stone Town". Thank you so much! We also love the way Emerson Spice transports it's guests into an oasis seemingly back in time right in the heart of the kazbah. The Team here thrive on their guests' comments and reading the reviews is also a great way of improving...

Emerson Spice Hotel is a magical experience. Every room takes you into a different world as their interior design is inspired by movies, books, operas, and other real life characters. The handbook in each room tells its own story. We stayed for three nights in the Kate room (after Katherine Hepburn). We loved the high ceilings, stain glass windows, stone...

Its a stunningly beautiful, romantic hotel with real charm. The staff were very helpful and happy to walk us to locations when we felt we might get lost, and provide a phone to call them if we did. (As it happened we got lost a lot, but the friendly residents of Stonetown were always ready to help with directions). The...

From the moment you arrive it is clear you are in another world. Each room has its own character and just when you think they can't get more beautiful you look into another. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An inspired and lovingly restored Merchant’s House, this multi-storied small Boutique hotel has an inner courtyard, eleven unique antiques-filled rooms, and two of Zanzibar’s best restaurants. All rooms are equipped with a small fridge, air conditioner, fan, and high ceiling mosquito net. The rooftop ‘Tea House’ hosts one of Stonetown’s most renowned restaurants offering a stylish ambiance amidst the sound of the calls to prayer from the town’s many mosques. The five course ‘Taste Safari’, prepared daily by our Zanzibari chefs, is seafood based and celebrates the freshest and best the market has to offer each morning. The sunset hour is an integral and pleasurable part of the experience so diners are encouraged to arrive at around 6pm to enjoy a ‘Sundowner’ before dinner. On the Ground floor The Secret Garden, set amidst lushly landscaped hidden ‘Ruins’, open to the skies, has a Zanzibari inspired A La Carte Menu. Look out for live music performed by The Dhow Countries Music Academy. Open for Lunch and Dinner. ... more   less
