I was peacefully enjoying a private swim and settled on the underwater seat with a glass of wine, enjoying the views over the lake when I was shocked to be joined by a troop of Baboons sitting beside me taking a drink from the pool, what an experience. The lodge was lovely and the staff welcoming and friendly. Chef Geldart...

This is basically a medium sized hotel. The rooms are on the small side and there is not much air flow so they are a bit warm even though there is a fan in each room. The view from the lodge is spectacular on a clear day. Food is pretty good and when there is a buffet there are local...

After a long day of successful game driving in beautiful Lake Manyara, we drove the 20 to 30 minutes on the tortuous road which leads to this very good hotel. The cool towel on arrival, the reception and explanations were welcome, efficient and prompt. We were only there for one night, a typical occurrence. They do offer overnight laundry ready...

The Lodge staff very efficient and friendly. Especailly liked the relaxing atmosphere around the pool and the bar. Food was very good. Trips to the National Park interesting and took just a few minutes. Pool, bar and dining areas conducive to developing camaraderie with other guests. A delightful stay.

We knew we were in Africa when we checked into this hotel. Traditionally decorated and wonderful staff. If this is your launch point to the Serengeti you won't be disappointed. There is a terrific horizon pool (but it was too cold for us to use it) and it seems all the public spaces and rooms have views of Lake Manyara....

The pool will not soon be forgotten. The whole setting is beautiful and let's not to forget the staff:.: extremely friendly. The restaurant, however ande the too quick service around the dinner, gave unfortunately an idea of mass tourism

This is a very nice hotel, close to the Manyara Lake Game Park. Excellent facilities, very good food and service. However, getting there is not much fun as the access road from the highway is in very bad shape. Let's hope it will be fixed soon! I also found the game viewing first class (although not as good as in...

We stayed in 4 Serena hotels on our trip, this is the less recommendable. The rroms are ok, but watch out for a male baboon running through the camp to try to get food from the garbage tons. The view is great if you have an upstairs room -the pool has the best view, but was pretty cold in November,maybe...

We stayed at six different properties during our 12 day safari in Kenya/Tanzania, and while this was not a bad property, it was the weakest of the six. It is perched atop a high ridge overlooking the rift valley and Lake Manyara National Park. The view is nice from some spots, but ground floor rooms have their views completely obscured...

This was the second stop on our honeymoon and our favourite. We arrived to a very friendly welcome and baboons stealing food from the kitchen and being chased by staff. Food and wine first rate, pool and views fantastic. The entertainment we saw in the evening was perhaps the best we've seen ever, even the noisy noisy frogs didn't stop...

Taking as its muse the glorious bird life of the fabulously soda-encrusted and pink flamingo-fringed...Lake Manyara, the swooping curves of this elegantly evocative lodge defy description. As do the soaring views over the Great Rift Valley, the rose-gold sunsets over the Mto Wa Mbu escarpment and the utterly unique tree climbing Lake Manyara lions. ... more   less
