We recently stayed at the Cavern, we found an advert in the Getaway Magazine. The scenery was incredible, just too beautiful for words. We have a 6 month old baby and traveling with a baby can be stressful! We were blown away with what was on offer for children of all ages! We booked a lady to look after our...

We spent 3 nights at this resort and spa and came back totally revitalised . The family owned hotel with an unusual history is incredibly stylish and modern with it's decor, furnishings and luxurious rooms. The hotel is spotless with numerous stylish lounges, an excellent dining room, beautiful scenery and views that are so incredible. The attention to detail is evident...

For us it was new to stay in a 'big' resort, the rest of our trip we stayed in small lodges. The rooms were kind of old, but the view is nice and the beds are good. The things we really loved were the breakfast/lunch/dinner, very good and fresh food! For lunch there was a buffet, but with breakfast and...

My father was celebrating his 80th birthday at the Drakensburg Spa & Resort with family and friends. There were 13 of us in total. The Hotel GM organised the 4th floor for this occasion. The table was set up on the balcony plus there was an outside bar plus music of my Dad's choice. What an ideal setting with the...

We stayed at The Cavern for the first night (Thursday on a long weekend) of a three day hiking trip to the Amphitheater. A great lodge with many outdoor activities (we only did a one day hiking trip via the resort). The lodge is situated in the mountains but accessible by tar road. Clean rooms, perfect location and good food...

Dear Elanie Thank you for your lovely review. We are quite chilled about dinner attire. We have many people using our hotel as their first night on the Amphitheatre trek - elegantly casual I am sure also includes hiking outfits!! Hope you enjoyed your trek. Kind regards Hilton and Megan

Once again we booked at the Cavern for our wedding anniversary (our 6th time here), and every single time we come back we are reminded of how beautiful this place is... The last couple of times at the Cavern we have stayed in Superior Suites, but this time opted to stay in one of the Standard Rooms, and we were...

Dear Jon Thank you so much for reviewing us on Trip Advisor. Special to have return visitors and lovely that you enjoyed your anniversary stay once more. Unfortunately people do not bring our umbrellas back and take them home with them. Please do bring one along next time or they are for sale in our curio shop. Take care and...

We were just knocked out by the Cavern. We found it on the Internet and booked with no trouble from the UK. We thought the gardens and pool and the quality of food and wine was wonderful, but above all, the staff were, to a man/woman, so friendly and welcoming. The presence of the Carte family, the owners, was in...

This was our final stop on a three week holiday. We wanted somewhere to relax, sort ourselves out and enjoy. We found the perfect place here at The Cavern. Our superior room was a very good size and had a delightful mini garden overlooking forest and views. I generally prefer smaller hotels and guest houses and The Cavern is a...

Having recently spent a long weekend at the Cavern we can definitely recommend it to everyone. It has something for everyone - from the lovely gardens and pool area to a quirky pub (set into the rock) serving a huge variety of your favourite tipple. There is even a quiet lounge if you are inclined to want to sit with...

Dear Fiona and Mark So glad you had a great time and enjoyed your sundowners with your fantastic views. The road from Gauteng is a lovely drive past the Sterkfontien Dam with distant views of the Drakensberg. Very special. Kind regards Hilton and Megan
