Flawless arrangements. Very good communicators. Khadimah the lady administrator was extremely helpful and efficient. If I have any complaint it is that I could have stayed longer. Well there's always next time. Merci

We booked Anba's because we planned to spend the day time scuba diving and not in a fancy room or next to a resort pool. It suits our needs perfectly. You definitely get what you pay for. This is not a 5 star resort and furniture and fittings a bit old (except for the very potent aircon in the room)! The Wi Fi was only working in living area and dropped a bit - but experienced this a other more upmarket hotels in Mauritius too - so seems this is a local problem. But it is very clean and tidy and the staff are wonderful! It is slightly off the beaten track and coming from SA (with crime a reality) we felt a bit unsafe walking in the dark streets at night - but then again, no need to venture out. The flat is fitted with microwave and stove and fridge and we did all our cooking and dinners here. Few minutes walk from the beach and also from Popo - the nice little supermarket. Also close to Scuba Doo where you can do the underwater scooter and great diving. If you are on budget - this is a very good option!

We enjoyed our vacation during December period with my family, the place was close to the beach and nearest supermarket which I liked,Anab is in a quite area the apartment was clean and the tv did work as we where traveling with my two boys the needed to watch after we have come back from sight seeing and enjoying our Mauritius vacation which I loved.we arrived very late and we find a fruit juice for us which we appreciate the WiFi was good👌 the cleaning lady skipped some days without cleaning😌you know when traveling with kids. We gave the cleaning lady to do our laundry which came out not been clean it was same as we gave it to her,The most important we had fun we enjoyed the owner was soo helpful in whatever we needed. Next time it will be me and my husband only to come for a visit again we enjoyed tried almost all their local food it was awesome as we hired a car we drove everywhere.it was humid but fun the apartment the A/C was working very well👏👏👌we will recommend people to Anba🇲🇺

The "apt." we stayed in was on the ground floor. We booked because of the location, glowing reviews, and apparently reasonable price as we were staying long term. It seemed somewhat clean, however chips and stains in the tiles (particularly the kitchen) make the floor look dirty constantly. We left early because there was no a/c in the bedrooms, only the "main room", and although a powerful a/c, it did not cool the bedroom as hoped and we could not sleep. Particularly with the outside temp. around 92°F most of the time (December). You do sort of "get what you paid for", however with no soap dish in the already miserably tight shower & bathroom, not counter space around the bathroom sink, and some items breaking/broken in the kitchen we just couldn't stay here for more than a day. Privacy is also kinda limited (only a thin curtain in the bathroom - see-thru at night). The TV reception did not work good, and there were misc. bits that made it below our standards (like hearing every noise from the apt. next door). Oh yeah, and there is no covered parking so your car is outside on the street in the glaring sun all day (and left unattended on the street all night). While crime is not a major concern in Mauritius, I would not leave anything valuable in a parked car. Note that laundry is done outside (for all guests to see) and shared by everyone. I guess this is ok if you don't have any nice clothes and only need to wash the sweat out of your "vacation tees". On the plus side the free wi-fi worked flawlessly. If you are on a budget and used to a certain "class" of accommodation, this may be considered a real "value for money" while you enjoy the rest of Mauritius. Just be prepared that it is not what we would consider very "nice" accommodation, and may be suitable if you only need a place to crash (ie after nights of heavy drinking). Notice there is also no pool (as indicated in the listing). For info, the neighbourhood is very quiet and has many empty lots around. Also the front door can be difficult to get in and out of, with very old style doors and a curtain hanging in front of where the door opens (unless you want to leave the curtain open so everyone can see inside). Basically the door is hung backwards, so it opens inward instead of outward as it should (sorry, I'm an Architect). Most the electrical wall sockets are UK so if you need to bring adapters you know what you'll need - however there are several adapters already in the apt. and they are cheaply available locally if needed.

Response from Anbas, Manager at Anba's
Responded 14 Jan 2015
We are very sad when clients are dissatisfied as we try our best to please. ‘Sorry everyone.’ We will try even harder. It’s true, these two left on day four. They cited a special need for extensive air-conditioning, and said that it was not our fault. Nevertheless, we gave a full refund on all of the 17 cancelled nights. At the time they had no other complaints at all. Now they do. Truly, Scottman missed the point of the 34 reviews he read on AirBnB before deciding to book with us. They definitely don’t mention the cracked tile or the incorrectly hung(?) door. More importantly they focus on the warm welcome they received and the high quality of service. A surprising number even like the decor and facilities ;-). Apartments are buildings and therefore prone to aging and require regular maintenance and renovations. Sorry, as an architect Scottman already knows that. And the pool? Actually we neither state nor imply in any advertising that we have one. We do not. Also, their ‘miserably tight’ bathroom was 2.5m by 1.8m and the shower 90cm by 90cm. For many of us non-architects this would be wholly acceptable for holiday accommodation. Granted my ‘New Yorker’ friends are used to larger facilities but thankfully, they are more generous . The lesson? As a self-confessed ‘luxury traveller’ Scott grudgingly rated us a fairly respectable 4/5 for value for money by his standards. Rather puzzlingly though, he wrote nearly 500 words about our ‘average’ accommodation. May I say, in the nicest possible way, ‘Get a life, (Scott)man’.  ‘Average’ needs little explanation to most people. I get where he is coming from though; I love first- class travel, and when I travel economy (99.9% of the time) I always want to pop a shirty note in the ‘suggestions’ box. Surely they don’t think a seasoned traveller such as me will accept that level of service. Huh! Next time, I’m definitely going first class. Enough is enough. If you are considering Anba’s please don’t let this stop you. No establishment can please everyone and thankfully, most of us put it behind us and move on. It’s a shame that didn’t happen on this occasion. One thing we are good at is helping people make the most of their holiday in Mauritius - luxury or not – so go on, Google us and restore your faith in human nature. We always try to be better than we were before, whatever comments we receive.
