We recently spent 3 weeks at Residence Potosi. it is very well situated right across The road from the beach. It is within walking distance to many good restaurants. The apt is quite new and very comfortable. Excellent support from management when there was a few niggles. Will definitely stay again

Booked this accommodation through a new booking site and got a fantastic discount. So was obviously a bit worried that it was a scam. So I sent a direct email to the hotel and got a very quick response to say that my booking was all in order. So was happy to finally arrive and to find a great welcome and a large sunny room. We got one of the upper floors and had a great sea view over the duplex flats on the other side of the street. Nice little balcony where from where we watched the sunset many evenings. The apartments are on the main road in Trou Aux Biches - and only about 100 meters walk from the main beach - perfect location. It is also situated close the the Souvenir Restaurant - about 20 meters - where you can find great Mauritian cuisine and also the best stir fried rice with chicken. Also a short walk for Popo's supermarket (newly renovated and extended where you will find everything you need). The bus stop to Grand Bay is also just across the road - so you do not even need a car! As for the room - almost everything you need. Stove, microwave, small fridge. All I would add is a pan for those bacon and eggs mornings! And a salad bowl - but I just bought a cheap microwavable bowl in the shop and it came in very handy. Large bed, crisp clean linen, nice large shower and small couch - which we never used as we were on the beach most of the day. The pool area is just a nice size. Was not busy at all - and there was no problem swimming in the evenings. You need to bring your own beach towels - which was a bit of a challenge as we did not travel with towels, but a sarong is a very good investment - for both beach and pool. All the staff were very friendly and so helpful. We will definitely be back as we not only did discover Residence Potosi but also one of the best Dive Masters in Mauritius - Sessen at the Boat House on the main beach. Thank you to all at Potosi for a great stay!

The residence Potosi belong to the Palmiste resort and spa Hotel. Big apartments rooms with Kitchenet, clean, newly revonated. Friendly staf, help you with informations. Very good location just 3 minutes from the sandy beach of Trou aux biches. Chinese restaurant, and souvenir restaurant, just next door. Super market 8 minutes about from the hotel. Small problem only with road, in front of the hotel, was little noisy. I hope stay again in this Hotel.

Pros: A property of a 3 star hotel La Palmiste and better than the hotel. A Big spacious room and a small room ( kids room). Good kitchenette with microwave and stove. Great location, right on he trou aux biches, near to Popo supermarket Access to La Palmiste activities Good service as per Mauritius standards New construction, clean, tidy, modern room. Same as the pics shows on the site. Good pool with no time restrictions as all other hotels have in Mauritius 24x7 guard availability. Utensils and room were cleaned Daily but as such no arrangement of dish washing ( sponge or soap) Cons: Nothing as such, they charge 10 percent for currency conversion which almost every hotel does there. They don't serve breakfast in the room. You have to walk down to La Palmiste I loved the stay there, will recommend this place. A good stay, above average service, above expectations . Very close to Popo supermarket which is one of the best supermarket for tourists.

Positives: Lots of plugs Large room Comfy mattress Security guy day and night Strong a/c Negatives: The room was not cleaned for the first 2 days and again on the last day and the wifi did not work for 1 day. Also: Communication before arrival was very poor. They did not answer emails and I ended up having to call them from Europe (they dont have whatsup) to confirm my reservation. Bit noisy in the morning No sea view (see pic) No welcome fruit basket No roof top swimming pool (or I have just not been told?) Broken bed cover (see pic) Very very old towels (see pic) No heated water on the swimming pool (btw cannot be used after 19h00) No toiletries No toilet paper No cooking equipment with the exception of 1 pan. (See pic) No beach towel No iron Strong smell of fried food in the corridor to get to the room I did inform the management promptly about every issue. The cleaning improved after 2 days and some complaints. Nevertheless they did not clean again on my last day. wifi issue was resolved after 1 day. When I asked for a partial refund due to the issues I had to suffer from and the fact that I booked a room based on a description that did not fit reality, that is when the management attitude changed. They were annoyed and irritated with me. When I emailed Booking.com they replied lying and denying everything they had apologized for when talking face to face. (They told me that the description on Booking.com is indeed wrong but Booking does not allow them to change it because they are under an ongoing contract....!?!....I'm still verifying this with Booking) They came across posh and luxurious only when it is about being paid ( they asked me for full prepayment from Europe) and cheap when it came to handling and resolving complaints. They offered a 25 euro massage as a compensation. I refused that because it was going to be at their hotel La Palmiste which has bad reviews and I did not want a compensation to turn into another reason for disappointment. I had breakfast at La Palmiste on my 1st day and the cups were so dirty that I had to give up on the idea of having a coffee. This is why I asked not to pay for the breakfast and the management told me that it was ok as a compensation for everything else that went wrong. This is why I chose to pay for the breakfast. Overall too expensive for what you get if you compare with similar properties just round the corner. They charged me with 100 euro per day and for ex. Padma apt charges 35 euro incl. breakfast. Not worth the money they charge.

Room is a bit small. We had to change room due to smelly fridge. Service is good/bad depending on who you talk to. Not many amenities in the kitchen. You have private parking inside with security at the gate.

If you arent keen on full board resort packages or €30 single meals at hotels, then the self catering option is very freeing. Restaurants, excursion bookings, souvenirs, other hotels, an ATM (the ONLY one in walking distance) and the beach are less than 2 minutes away from your apartment room door. The famed and newly renovated Chez Popo supermarket is a mere 5 minutes away. The Potosi is operated and managed by the 3 Star Le Palmiste hotel but is much newer and very modern. Kitchen utensils, crockery, kettle, fridge, microwave and basin is present. My dishes were washed by the staff. I’m not sure if thats the normal service or if they thought I was hopeless. No dishwashing soap supplied although there are cloths. You get a lovely kitchen, spacious corner suite lounge and the main bed is open plan. Some rooms also have this weird single bedroom. A balcony allows you to see some slivers of the ocean between newly erected units. The balcony can be closed off with heavy duty automatic shutters. Lovely pool on the first floor. Parking available. Staff are super friendly and very accommodating. Breakfast via buffet could be arranged with the Palmiste. I’m not a coffee drinker but the variety served there was amazing. Fresh fruit, local bacon, (skip the gritty chicken sausages), crepes, pastries, omelette station and copious amounts of Nutella. Worthwhile if full board resort living is undesirable or not feasible. I will return.

This is a very comfortable spot to stay - a nice comfy bed, well stocked kitchen and close to the beach. Very clean and the staff very friendly. Just around the corner from the beach and walk to lots of local bars and restaurants. Just a tip for newbies to Mauritius - self cater your breakfast as nearby options are really lacking. Supermarket Chez Popo is up the road and has lots of options for breaky.
