We arrived after spending 5 days at Lux Belle Mare. First impressions were great, the surroundings are just beautiful. We got given a room by the Ilot pool, which for us was brilliant as it was a quieter pool and kids had it to themselves most of the time. Negatives of this area are that there were only 2 side tables for approx 30 sun beds and I didn’t find the staff overly attentive. One guy (silver teeth) watched me struggle with 6 heavy towels and bag. Lovely infused water supplied everyday but would be nice if they kept it topped up with fresh ice as it got warm very quickly. First night was a huge disappointment as we couldn’t get into a restaurant and we didn’t want spend out on the buffet when we’d had a late lunch, so room service was our only option. The other issue was there wasn’t any childrens meals offered on the menu so off we go to reception. She basically told me that’s just the way it is, so I asked to speak to the manager. Gale was the manager on duty that night and he was great, I explained one of my children only eats specific food and he sorted it out for us and had a lovely meal in our room :/ Luckily the film on the beach complete with popcorn soon cheered us up. I generally found the management really helpful and professional, shame I can’t say the same for the rest of the staff. They weren’t rude but they didn’t go out of their way to help. One morning I enquired about getting a taxi for that day, I was told they supply a 4 & 6 seater taxi, I asked if I needed to book the 6 seater and they said no. Later in the morning when heading out on our excursion we asked for the 6 seater and were told it was no longer available that day and would instead need to use two 4 seater taxis which was double the price of the 6 seater I had asked about. As I had specifically asked and told I didn’t need to book I was not impressed, again once mgmt was involved this was quickly resolved and a 6 seater was provided. There was an Easter time table which staff seemed to know nothing about when I asked questions. Kids club staff were brilliant and offered a range of activities including an Easter egg hunt on Sunday. The spa was nice but a little disjointed and no where near as nice as Belle Mare, but did offer the nicest coconut and vanilla tea. The biggest let down for us was breakfast, the quality and choice of food was not a patch on Belle Mare. Birds landing on the pastries was very off putting and the egg lady basically threw your eggs on the plate unless you were French and then she was polite. They did have a blender which allowed me to make myself a smoothie, and I added sorbet to it so it was colder. Although most mornings I had to remind them to put the sorbets out and one morning was told they didn’t have any available that day. The F&B manager was in the restaurant so asked him and he arranged for them to be put out, so basically it seemed like just couldn’t be bothered to get them out that day. Evening buffet was lovely, and the pastry chef made me a special dairy free dessert. The Beach restaurant was also great. We went to East twice, first time amazing and second time was okay think it may have been a different chef? Ruth at the Art shed was super, she went above and beyond to arrange activities for us. Myself and the mums learnt Macrame and my daughter tie dyed one of her own t-shirts with Ruth’s help. Overall we had a lovely time but there’s room for improvement.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Staff were welcoming, friendly, helpful. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable (Junior Ocean Suite). There was a good range of activities available, or there was always the option to step outside my room and onto the beach to chill, and relax in the sun/sea. Staff spoke a good range of languages, so not being proficient in French wasn't a problem, and there was a variety of food to tempt all tastes - maybe not "haute cuisine" but, given that they were providing a mainly buffet service for a largish number of people, the quality was very good. There were also other dining options within the hotel, such as the Thai restaurant and Japanese sushi, as well as private dining by the pool or on the beach. I had worries about being in such a beautiful, romantic spot on my own, but was made to feel very much at home - unlike some experiences I've had when travelling, where being solo often means being invisible. Some reviews I've seen have mentioned the lack of "nightlife" in the hotel. Everyone has different expectations for their holiday experience, but the relatively peaceful family atmosphere of the main hotel was fine for me - and the bar always had a nice "cocktail hour" buzz about it. There also were organised events such as beach barbeque and rum tasting, which gave the opportunity to be more sociable. I hope to go back again sometime soon.

Lux Le Morne is located in a beautiful part of Mauritius at the foot of the Le Morne Mountain with a lovely long golden beach covered in palm trees and set in a calm lagoon with crystal clear water. The hotel has a more tropical feel and setting compared to the modern Lux Belle Mare and you can't help but feel the relaxed island vibe. The hotel comes close to a luxurious 5 star resort but there are some small improvements needed in staff training, areas of renovation and breakfast for this to be one of the best on the Island. All staff appeared friendly and happy although this on its own doesnt provide good customer service as it seemed like we had small problems every day with contradicating information or defaulting to "no" for small requests. For example asking if we can order a childs meal when the menu didnt have a kids menu listed. I'm not sure if this is because some staff are new and lacking in training or if they are afraid to make decisions. The managment are however excellent and quickly resolve any problems with a special mention of Gael the deputy manager. Room - We stayed in a Deluxe Room as a family of 3 which was nice but felt cramped with the extra childs bed and is on the smaller side compared to other resorts. In contrast the bathroom area was very spacious. Without the extra bed the room size would be fine. Although not dated the rooms could do with a bit of TLC. For example the light switches felt cheap as the plastic covers would often come loose and needed to be clicked back into place, the tiled floor and edges looked dirty and in need of a good clean or replaced. On a plus point the location was close to the pool and beach which was very convienient. SPA - This was a disapointment compared to the excellent spa at Lux Belle Mare and we only used once during our stay. This is probably the main area that needs a renovation as the facilities feel a bit dated and didn't appear to be kept in good condition. It wasnt inviting enough to book any treatments so can't comment on those. Restaurants and Food - We stayed B&B as prefer to eat in al-a-carte restaurants so were disapointed when we arrived to find that none of the restaurants had availability for the duration of our stay which wasnt a good start. Once escalated to the F&B Manager he was kindly able to arrange a table for the majority of the evenings. The Hotel has 3 main restaurants Beach, East and the main buffett, they do also have a sushi restaurant but it only seats 12 people so very difficult to get a resevation. Breakfast was probably the biggest disapointment as the service, choice and quality was ok but nowhere near the quality of the breakfast at the sister hotel Lux Belle Mare and really needs improving to meet the 5 star standards for the hotel. In contrast we did eat in the evening buffett once and this was really good, the pastry chef also made my wife a special dairy free desert after she asked if any of the deserts were dairy free. We ate at the Beach restaurant which was ok, but out of the 3, East was our favourite and had a good choice of thai dishes. A nice touch is the afternoon pancakes available for free between 4pm and 5pm each day and the fire and marshmellows at 5pm which was always popular with our children. The evening cinema on the beach with popcorn was also a big hit with adults and children. Watersports - The great thing about Mauritius is the complimentary watersports which we made use of every day. The lagoon is very calm as its protected by the reef and mountain making it ideal for non-motorised watersports and gives a beautiful view looking back on the hotel with the mountain behind. You can snorkel and will see some fish but i wouldn't recommend for keen snorkellers as there are better locations around the island for snorkelling. Watersports staff were always friendly and helpful. As a keen Wakeboarder and Water-Skier its great to have complimentary motorised watersports however I only got to do this once during my stay due to the tides. They usually have 1 or 2 sessions available each day during high-tide which you need to book at 9am to get a space. Unfortunately for the majority of our stay the high tide was outside of the watersports hours so something you need to consider if this is something you are interested in. At other resorts in Mauritius i havent had this restriction before so was able to wakeboard a couple of times a day, not a fault of the hotel but something to be aware of. On the day i did get to go it was really enjoyable, the boat was nice compared to other resorts and they drive you 10 minutes away to another bay which is calm with crystal clear water which added to the experience. Overll we would recommend Lux Le Morne for its beautiful location and relaxed vibe and this could become a top resort with some small changes.

Very nice resort with stunning location under the Morne. Eating experience: mixed. The best resto for us was East (Thai-Asian) with Abiraj great host and very nice Thai food (but also serve Australian sirloin…) and cosy and relaxed ambiance. the Beach was the worst (food totally unauthentic example: pizza with yellow industrial cheese despite a nice brick oven; the pesto sauce was unbeatable again industrial and brown colored). In the middle the buffet which at 50€ per adult per meal (dinner) was overpriced. We asked to negotiate a reduced price since we like to have a light dinner. It was accommodated (kudos to F&B manager) Other people to mention Julienne of the aqua gym and His assistant Anne-lore.

Wonderful experience! We stayed in mid march for a fews day that turned into 6 days, as everything and everyone were perfect. We loved the care of Vishee, the smile and help of Jérémie, Megane, Julien and so many others. The room was very comfortable and very well taken care of. The food was so good and big hug to the Indian corner lady that was just the cherry on the cake. We would recommend for sure and we will get back absolutely. Félix & David

Visiting Mauritius for the 1st time we had split our trip between the east & west coasts... the difference was unbelievable when arriving from the One&Only Le Saint Geran on the east coast to Le Morne... The Lux sits in a truly idyllic location - the beach and sea so much nicer than on the east and far less windy (to be fair a cyclone had skirted the east of the island the day before we landed). We booked a prestige junior suite (if I'm honest we had no dressing area as depicted on the website) however the bathroom and outdoor shower (there is an indoor one too) are lovely... room isn't huge but as you can easily sit outside with your morning coffee not an issue. Food is fine - not as good as the One&Only, however as they explained that many of their staff were attending a religious festival during our stay we understood. Main restaurant is a little disappointing but Thai restaurant, East was amazing. We did struggle with the Beach restaurant but the location is lovely.... So why 5 stars.... Le Morne is beautiful and working with concierge, Justine before our visit we planned a morning horse ride and also a half day snorkelling and dolphin trip... both were mind blowing. The horse ride is just a 10 minute car journey from the hotel, 121 attention (not a massive group) and includes swimming in the sea and a gallop along the beach! The private boat trip setting off from the beach included our own butler, Moonish (so lovely) and a swim guide/dolphin spotter.... no where near as expensive as the much hyped on Instagram - Vitamin_sea_mauritius - and our crew were hugely experienced and lovely to be with. Finally a shout out to Martine in the hotel shop who searched high and low for a small bath robe for me to purchase (trust me they are to die for and no I didn't steal one!) - it arrived 2 hours before we left for our flight home.... amazing customer service.

It was awesome! The best services, anything is possible, hotel personal was very helpfull (with trips - especially thanks to Jason, with time of house keeping because our daughter needs afternoon nap, with everything). Room was really clean, house keeping was very careful, very good minibar. Beach and ocean awesome - south of Mauritius is really better than north. Very nice fitness with modern equipment and the best kids club. Night crab hunting ind the kids club was really funny experience for whole family. And food… there are a many options of food. I tried almost everything and it was delicious, especially morning pastry, coconut jam, salad bar and grill station. Beach restaurant has very nice atmosphere for lunch and mainly for dinner, catch of the day and lava cake will be in my memories forever (because I had this combo six times :)). Very good coffee and desserts in main bar. Thanks to Chef Saurabh for amazing food experience and recipe for delicious salad dressing. Glass bottom boat, breakfast at the tree house etc, horse riding and SPA (recomend coconut ritual), everything was perfect. Thank you very much for unforgettable experience! I hope that we will back soon.
