We spent one magical week in Mauritius in an unbelievable Resort on the beach with an incredible staff that took very good care of us. From the very attentive and dedicated Kenen at the butler service who surprised us many times with heartful attentions to the super smiling, joyful and service oriented Aroumel at the pool, everyone at the hotel made our stay spécial and one to be remembered. Food was also something we appreciated with a variety of options for breakfast (special mention to the lady at the eggs station) and nice restaurants for the evening. The facilities were premium from the pool, to the gym, the spa and Of course the beach areas with a lot of complementary activities (snorkeling, paddle, kayak etc…). Room was very spatious, with a balcony and a view and à large bathroom with both shower and bathtub. One of our highlight will be for sure the Sunset Celebration on the beach with great scenery and drinks / food. We’ll be back!

Hotel's Favourite
My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary at JW Marriott Mauritius. We stayed 5 nights in October and had the most wonderful time ever! It was our first trip to Mauritius and everything was beyond our expectation. We had a little check-in delay upon arrival but I was very impressed at how the staff at JW Marriott handled the situation. We were very tired after a long overnight flight but they made us felt very well looked after from Day 1. When you are at JW Marriott, we would like to recommend everyone to take full advantage of the water activities (SUP, snorkelling, paddle boat, kayaks) offered in the hotel and definitely hike the Le Morne. It takes around 3 hours up and down (average fitness) but there is some scrambling in the last half an hour to the top so just be mentally & physically prepared. Also, if you play tennis, please try out the court! It has a nice view of the Le Morne and we really enjoyed playing tennis here. Also, rent the bikes from the hotel (complimentary) and cycle around Le Morne. It is very beautiful. It is one of our favourite moments in Mauritius. The four restaurants in the hotel are superb. We loved everything they served us. We loved fresh seafoods and I especially liked the lamb chops at the Floating Market. Appetizers at the Japanese restaurant were delicious as well. We were on a half- board package and there were some menus we had to pay extra (such as lobster) but they don’t cost much. Mauritius is a beautiful island and there’s so much to do. We would definitely love to come back again. Martin and I got engaged in Seychelles last year and went to the Maldives for our Honeymoon but we both agreed that Mauritius has been our favourite beach holiday amongst all and I don’t think I am exaggerating when I say the main reason for this is because of our impeccable experience at JW Marriott Mauritius. A big thank you to Riad, our butler for taking care of every single detail from dinner reservations to helping us get the best Mauritian souvenirs! Riad, you are a superstar and we couldn’t have asked for a better butler. Thank you so much for your great service. Special shout out to other staff members including Jimmy (F&B manager), Rakesh (Reservations manager) Jottie at reception, Ali (Sou chef), Kolly from the bar, Smitesh from the restaurants and Jean, who helped my husband with his first sabrage! You guys made our trip so much more fun and memorable. We really enjoyed talking to the staff and how they really made us smile no matter where we were. Whenever they see us they would greet and ask “How can I help you?” Last but not least, we would like to extend our thanks to Dimitros Kotsifakos, the Resort Manager for having such a wonderful team. We always saw him walking around mornings and nights greeting every single guest. You can really feel that all of the staff members really care for your well being and happiness during your stay. Thank you once again for making our wedding anniversary such an unforgettable one. It’s been one of our best trips so far. Hope to see you again in near future!

This was a perfect vacation for us. Both the team and the resort are amazing. Never have I seen a more positively engaged Hotel Manager than Dmitrios; his smile and attention to all details and problems says it all. Our butlers, Marie Elisa and Garry were the perfect hosts and made sure we had the perfect time, as we wanted it to be. The food in all five restaurants were world-class. The seclusion at the beach was fantastic; and Tej made sure we had the best service when we were there. The resort overall is in perfect shape. I would dearly recommend the resort to all who are considering it.

One-line summary: JW Marriott Mauritius has one single flaw, and that is its counting skills. The resort boasts to have five stars, whereas one would reasonably expect this number to be six. —— (Very) Long note: Generally speaking, I largely abstain from rendering account of my travel experiences online. The few instances in which I nevertheless did have as their common denominator that my stay had been exceptional, and this is very true with regard to my latest journey to JW Marriott Mauritius (“JWMM”). I had been fortunate enough to enjoy the hospitality of venues which may be deemed as preeminent within the travel and leisure industry; this is said not to boast, but to drive the point that I would consider myself so privileged as to be able to discern a great house from a good one, and an excellent one from one which is “merely” great. In that regard, it is beyond any doubt that JWMM pertains to the the very finest hotels, quite possibly spearheading them. Front desk: The reception team did an excellent job in welcoming us to the hotel, addressing all our concerns swiftly, competently, and amicably, and left us not with any wanting. When my partner had to deal with a medical condition, the reception team went above and beyond to render care, even obtaining medication from a pharmacy on a Sunday in the middle of the night. In these moments, JWMM shines in particular, as their first faces to the customers answer on the first call, and rise to any given occasion. Thank you for everything Marie, Neha, Neela & team! Housekeeping/Butler Service: The lines where the one starts with its services and the other ends, I perceived as a bit blurry, because all our requests and needs where answered by both, which, to my mind, shows a fantastic collaborative team spirit - whoever gets the ball first runs, and that different departments work together so splendidly to make the guest experience the best one possible is an outstanding management achievement. We noted with particular appreciation how well the butler team remembers the quirks of their guests, and anticipates their needs - in our case i.a. a high affinity towards coffee, so when we requested a visit of the butler team on an entirely unrelated matter, they of course came stocked with new capsules for the in-room machine, considering that we may have run out of the latter that day already (true). Shortly prior to checkout, we had some trouble to reach our driver, and requested again the assistance of the butler team, only to come back to our room and find that everything had been rescheduled according to our asking. For the checkout day itself, we jointly sat down with Garry to discuss our take-away breakfast bags, arranged wake-up service and luggage pick-up, and enjoyed a seamless transition to the airport. The housekeeping team kept our room impeccably clean, neat, and tidy, and we came back numerous times to find fresh flowers and rather creative towel animals and figurines greeting us. Needless to say that we always found our amenities fully restocked. Special thanks to Jonathan for his efforts and dedication. F&B: Be prepared to hit the well-equipped gym often - the breakfast is, in lack of a more elaborate word, simply awesome - perfectly poached eggs, or eggs Benedict, delicious freshly prepared Omelettes, a sweet buffet that tempts you every day again to yield, exciting Indian and Asian specialties such as dal and dim sum - I could not imagine any desire not met. Again, great food is one thing, but the team on shift every morning is what made the difference. Stress levels could be peaking and you would not know it, as everyone is attentive, alert, incredibly kind, and welcomes any request with a smile. The same applies to the kitchen team - having developed a craving for JWMM’s signature almond croissants, I enquired one day upon closing of the buffet whether one would still be left. Shortly thereafter - despite breakfast time having been over for quite a while by then - I found three freshly baked, hot croissants waiting with an equally freshly squeezed orange juice ready at my table. The restaurants continue to deliver on the high standard set during breakfast, with all catering to different tastes, providing some welcome variety to longer stays. Boat House’s catch of the day never failed to please, and the setting of the Floating Market provides for a great culinary experience. The teams at both places are perfect hosts, and the generous, finely crafted courses are worth every caloric sin committed. Albeit the quality across all restaurants is so high that choosing your favourite will be a challenging task, Simply India holds a special place in our hearts. Firstly, its chef Yudhveer is superb. My partner had spent significant time in India and the wider area, and had the best butter chicken ever in Mauritius now, which I would second with my choice - if you don’t try the Chicken Tikka Masala, you’re missing out on a culinary delight second to none. Our sincere and lasting gratitude, secondly, rests with the restaurant’s Manager, Sehzad, who took the time to welcome us in person, catered to all our requests, and made us feel as if we were rather guests visiting a friend’s house. On our last evening, we had been hoping to come back to Simply India, which regrettably was closed that day. Sehzad, however, went out of his way to nevertheless see us off with a “bang“ - literally so, as, under his guidance, we sent the corks flying. After dinner, a farewell cake made our parting unforgettable. Management team: JWMM’s senior management team hosted a meet & greet cocktail, which was a really nice touch as it provided the opportunity to get to know the leadership team across all departments. In our conversations, it was made abundantly clear why the hotel performs at the highest level. We were constantly impressed by the meticulous approach the various department Heads took at their respective divisions, it almost felt like as if each desk was vying with the others for excellence, in a cheek-in-tongue manner, however, that has the collaboratively created guest experience at its core; indeed I believe that the great teamwork exhibited is a key driver behind JWMM’s stellar trajectory. Wider Team: I very much regret that I cannot name everyone who contributed to our phenomenal stay, the striking reason being that every single staffer went out of their way to make this an exceptional experience. A genuine thanks though must be expressed to Raj, who handled our luggage the first day and frequently picked us up at our room, always with a smile. I also feel that this review would be incomplete if I were not to express our profound gratitude to the Senior Director of Marketing, whose good natured humor, invigorating laughter, and humbling generosity are his calling cards - thank you Gilles! Rooms/premises: You will reside in spacious detached little colonial style dwellings which are tastefully furnished, provide ample room, and are cozily tucked along the beach front, which provides for spectacular views of sunsets and sunrises. Our room was set a little further apart from the immediate shoreline, which, thanks to the staggered layout, still offered lovely views; hence, you don’t necessarily have to be at the very front row to enjoy the perks. That is, if you are not fortunate to choose one of the suites in the main building where we had been invited to take a sneak peak into, and which are tremendous in size, design, and views, including a most lovely vast balcony. The entire place is set under the most dramatic scene of mount Brabant, which creates breathtaking view after breathtaking view. The design of the resort is very tasteful, and the open plan layout in which interior and exterior seamlessly flow into one another is connecting the entire abundant space most intriguingly. The fine sandy beach is taken straight out of movie, and it looks as such because every morning, the staff makes sure that daybeds and sands are immaculately arranged and combed. The pool area is huge and very well designed, we hardly every felt that the place got crowded thanks to the spacious layout. The cabanas are a nice touch, and allow for extended stays while traversing sun and shade. I wish I could recall the names of the pool team, who chimed all in into the fantastic hospitality extended. That the hotel entertains a special sunset lounge at the beach front should not come as a surprise by now - enjoy the scenery under fairy lights on beanbag chairs, sipping your champagne ahead of dinner. Overall view: Clearly 11 out of 10. The benchmark had been set to a new high through this stay.

JW Marriott Mauritius is such an exceptional hotel, not only in terms of the facilities quality, food and amenities, but - more importantly - from service prospective. I'm quite astonished of the leve of attentiveness and care the team provided, from the minute I stepped foot into the property till departure. I would've mentioned gestures and initiatives, but they're more than would be counted or summarized. Wht made it for me was the feeling that I was in safe hands, and that guests satisfactionis what the hotelaims for in all its endeavors. My thanks to the GM, Mr. Demitirios who makes himself available and greets guests with a warming smile, Ms. Hena of the reception for going the extra mile and doing the unexpected, to Kenny, Paul and many others. With respect and appreciation. Ali AlShaali Dubai
