Absolutely beautiful hotel, our room was wonderful. The staff were fabulous, special shout out to Krishi and Nirvan from the bar and Sharone the hairdresser. The food was amazing, we only visited the INTI restaurant because the buffet was delicious so went there for most of our evening meals and the burgers at lunchtime were melt in the mouth. Would highly recommend and can’t wait to return.

We had the most amazing time at the Lux Grand Gaube for our wedding this month. We chose the hotel based on our experience at the Lux Le Morne last year. The service, facilities, food & cleanliness were the reason we didn’t want to go anywhere but a Lux to get married. We knew we wouldnt be able to beat it. We even went to Sandals in Barbados earlier this year and just compared it the whole time to Lux Le Morne and recommended the Lux brand to anyone we met there. It’s fair to say we love the Lux brand, we’ve been to 3/4 of the hotels in Mauritius now! But Grand Gaube is the most memorable We got married at the hotel on the 11th of November and it was everything we’d hoped for and more. Nitisha the hotel wedding planner couldn’t do anymore for us if she tried. She was fantastic, from the planning before we went, greeting us on our arrival 9 days before the wedding and being there throughout our wedding day, she must’ve worked a 15hour shift just to be there from the preparation through to the end of the reception at 11pm. We hired out the Bodrum Blue for our reception, we only have 9 guests but we wanted a private experience. The food was out of this world, the staff were very attentive & Nitisha was on hand to ensure everything went smoothly every step of the way. It truly was the most magical venue. To anyone considering getting married at the hotel, Nitisha will go above and beyond to fulfil all of your wishes. She really does love her job and will do anything she can for you. To summarise: Dreadful experience. We are mid way our stay, but already feel like feedback is due. From the check in, the staff (although polite and friendly) gave us the wrong opening hours for a couple of the resort amenities, every time we’ve asked for clarification we’ve been given a different answer. The Lux brags about having plenty of restaurants and bars (around 6 of each), but all drink’s menus are the same, which makes no sense at all. One thing that we’ve found extremely annoying, is the fact that to have dinner inside of the resort, you must have booked at least 3 days in advance to have a slot. The alternative is to go into their buffet and pay around £60 per person for an all-you-can-eat, which we’ve found ridiculous. This isn’t disclosed when making the hotel booking or when you’re close to your stay initial date, hence the first couple of days are not ideal if you want a hassle free experience. There’s also a dress code for some of the restaurants/bars, which includes long trousers for men. The temperature in Mauritius ranges from 24 degrees Celsius in the night to 28/30 during the day, so that’s not really something you would pack. Luckily we are here escaping the British autumn, so at least I had one decent pair of jeans with me. There were also some big parties (20 ish) of rude guests, and the hotel staff did nothing at all to minimise how they were affecting the rest of the people staying at the facilities. The good: - the Lux Cafe’s staff is brilliant - Nice gym for cardio with some weight machines - Location is good for moving around, close to Pereybere and Mon Choisy - The rooms are quite comfortable - They welcome you with a Free massage to book during your stay, which is a pleasant surprise All in all, it’s not being worth what we’ve paid for. …

In the middle of our stay at the tail end of our honeymoon- so far, I have been completely unimpressed by this hotel and would not have it ranked as a 5 star hotel. The grounds are beautiful so if your main goal is to take photos for instagram, then this is a great place. However, I expect service that goes above and beyond at 5 star hotels and this clearly misses the mark. The hotel perhaps is too big for a 5 star experience. We went to book activities and dinners the morning after a late night check in, and had difficulty getting dinner reservations during normal dinner times and had to wait 3 days to get a spa appointment. The servers at the beach have no idea what’s going on and do not proactively come around to see if they can get you anything. This caters to families so could recommend for family travel with lower expectations but for a honeymoon, I would never recommend it to anyone. …

We wanted somewhere special to celebrate my wifes big birthday and this resort delivered in full. The staff made you feel special from the moment we arrived providing complimentary facilities so that we could shower and change after our 23 hour journey before our room was ready. Our room was a junior suite which had a huge bed, an excellent bathroom with a walk in shower, bath and twin basins. There was really comfortable indoor and outdoor seating if you didnt want to use the nearby beach or pool loungers. The resort had a number of restaurants so there was plenty of choice for meals including a buffet style restaurant with all tastes catered for. During a 10 day stay the bar area provided different high quality musical entertainment every evening and was a great place to relax and enjoy a few drinks. I normally don’t write reviews but this hotel has blown our expectations in all levels, we have been to many 5* hotels but the Lux Grand Gaube takes it to the next level, the hotel facilities are amazing but the stand out has to be the service from all staff, they go beyond any experience I have ever had and do it with a smile and forever trying to please us. A big shout out to David the head chef and his team who always made special meals for us which weren’t on menu and to Vishnu from G&T 100 club who always tried to help us whenever he could to main waiters of Rishi, Nund, Mevine who all went above expectations to ensure we had a great time. And finally to housekeeping team who always kept our rooms clean throughout the day but especially Madvhi who was superb. Fantastic stay in an unbelievable setting. The team, food and service were excellent from start to finish and everyone around the resort; from the reception team to the restaurant teams all deliver to the highest standards. The real height of luxury was being able to relax on the beach whilst wanting for nothing, as the beach service was amazing. Absolutely stunning! The quality of the service,food & rooms was exceptional. Every one who worked there welcomed you with a warm greeting and a smile, with no exception. We were in an Ocean Junior Suite, stunning layout, incredible large balcony/terrace overlooking the Indian Ocean..and loads of storage space! The beach was pristine and the waters extremely welcoming with plenty of water sport activities on offer. Restaurants…the buffet restaurant, The Palm Court, was not like your normal hotel buffets, the food would be replenished regularly and made to order if required, and of outstanding quality. This was open primarily for breakfast and dinner, no reservation required. The other restaurants were all exceptional, our particular favourite being Bodrum Blue…superb! Inti was also very good,but a little disappointed that you had to pay when you’re already AI! Lux need to review this… Pools…only used the adult pool,extremely relaxed and chilled vibe,lovely and warm and the beach right next to it. Other facilities included a cinema, multiple tennis courts (with a hitting wall), padel tennis court, table tennis, boules, extensive gym, fantastic Spa, barbers & hairdressers. Wow what an amazing holiday I absolute luxury. The staff are all pleasant and very courteous and definitely made the stay. Reedoo at the beach is simply an awesome guy, krishi in the bar is an absolute gent and Captain Tom on the traditional boat is knowledgeable and an amazing guy to spend some time with. Please don’t book as we want to make sure there’s availability for when we come back.

The 8 days we have spent here have been out of this world, we cannot recommend the hotel and staff enough, complete 5* service for our entire trip. Would highly recommend the Islands Tour on the traditional boat with captain Tom. Head down to the beach with 5* treatment from the man himself Reedoo
