We booked this guest house on line from uk having looked at the other reviews. The owner picked us from the airport in very small car and we have to sit with part of luggage on our knees. When we reach the place we were shockedthe place was filthy, broken toilet seat .wandering dog scratching itself .people wers mopping the place.,wet floor..unsafe stairs with no railings, the was full of rubbish with broken furniture. When we complained the lady was rude to us.We could go on and on.This place is inhabitable.Don't go there,We didn't stay .Thank God we found somewhere fantastic and we had lovely time in Mauritius.

As per other reviews, you can stay here for the view overlooking the bay. Quiet spot at the end of the street. Bus stop near by to go to Port Louis, pamplemousse and Grand baie beach in waking distance. Plenty of good restaurants around. Owner friendly but ...accommodation had issues, door hard to close, toilet seat broken, many marks on the walls, had to ask 4 times to get one more roll of toilet paper, room not cleaned every day. Air conditionner works well and bed is comfortable. Owner arranged tour at île aux cerf which was great. Wifi is reasonably fast.

We booked 2 nights at this place. We booked two single beds but we're given a double bed. However, the people running the place we're friendly, the room was clean enough. Bed was a little small for two thou. They had a small kitchen area with a small stove. They provide basic utensils for cooking which was great! The view from the room was amazing! Facing the gorgeous sea. Locating the place was a little difficult, but we had a local sim and google maps guided us well! The cons of the place is definitely the water supply. On our 3d2n stay, we had a few water supply cuts for a few hours. For the showers, hot water was irregular and sometimes the water pressure is very low. Not too sure if it is only during our stay. Overall, it was a cozy and alright stay! Would recommend if you love the sea view!

We stayed here for a week for same price as a local hotel for one night. It's situated on the sea front in an amazing location. You could pay a lot of money for this view. It's amazing looking over grand baie and its boats The lady who welcomed us was brilliant, a local lady who by first impressions must be the most fun person in the country We got an instant free upgrade to a bigger room. The rooms are ok , a very comfy bed, spacious bedrooms The kitchen had a fridge freezer and cooking stove. The shower worked so that was good enough for us. This isn't a 5 star hotel, but a perfect apartment close to local beeches and shops If you do go for Pillay guest house email before you book for even better discounts. Lovely people cute apartment

Ok, this is not 5 star luxury but the view rivals any 5 star hotel that I have stayed in. There is no hiding the fact that this place is a little rough and ready, but it is great for the price. We had a private balcony overlooking the sea, on which we had a bbq every night which was very kindly provided by the wonderful people that run this place. Stay here and you will find yourself in the middle of a Mauritian community (complete with prayer session next door every evening), with families, dogs, friendly locals and lots of other things which will make you smile. There are caveats with this place - it is not spotless, the furniture, including the bed, is pretty old, and the locks on the doors are a little stiff (we spent three days climbing in and out of the window) but the pluses far outweigh those minor negatives. All in all, it was highly relaxing, thoroughly enjoyable, and I highly recommend Pillay to you. If you want to be close to the beaches surrounding Grand Baie, but away from the brashness of the centre of town, and you are on a budget, look no further than this place.
