Wonderful family holiday. Banu beach residence is conveniently located close to great Super U supermarket. More importantly close to bus stop for trips to Port Louis, botanical gardens, popular beaches like Pereybere and many more. Also close to Grand Baie Bazaar. Lots of lovely restaurants around. Effective air conditioning in bedrooms. Daily housekeeping by friendly lady. Washing machine available.
Firstly the owner was great, however the pictures and reviews are not exactly what you get, we thought we would have an apartment over looking the sea, it is advertised 'sea views' to see the sea you have to go out onto the balcony, we were in the 3rd flat at the back of the flats, when on the balcony if you looked to the left, past 3 other balconies and a drive way, across the road and through lots of trees, you can actually catch a glimpse of the sea, sitting on the balcony looking straight ahead you over look a carpark and building site and the back of some delaminates houses, to the right was the back of a house and razor wire around the length of the apartment. Cats fighting on our balcony was one of the things that kept us up at night, the other was the hard horrible bed and pillows, the apartment was quite big which included a large kitchen with fridge and dining table, cooker etc, but absolutely no where to prepare food, the tv was on the wall in the bedroom but you had to lay on the bed to watch it, only decent channel was bbc news which was just repeated all day long. A great place if you don't care about any of the above, very central to shops etc, but the location was extremely noisy and busy. We ended up leaving the apartment for 4 days to stay in a resort up the road at a cost of $220 a night just to be able to relax by a pool for a few day. We had been to Mauritius once before with a large family group and really enjoyed it but we had stayed in a resort so I definitely recommend that if you want a good holiday there that you book a resort and don't leave it.…
In a heart of grand baie. Atm, bus stop, supermarket, post around the corner, nice beach. Owner great, helpful, punctual, responsive! Place clean and tidy. Great location and value for the money!!!!!!
We stayed here for three nights and got an upgrade to a very large apartment due to an overbooking. The apartment was complete with all necessary equipment. Everything was clean and maid every day. Shops everywhere, big supermarket on a 5 minute walk. Beach opposite the street where you can watch the sunset. From the balcony you can see a little bit of sea but at daytime we were always outside so we didn't bother. There's a building under construction next door but when we were there nobody was there so no noises.
Right by the Grand Baie beach, cost friendly residence with spacious room and kitchen. They clean the room, change the sheets and towels everyday if you want. But I wanted the cleaning lady to change our sheets once a week since I change my sheets at home once a week. Why waste extra water and poison the ecological system with laundry detergent unnecessarily? There is a narrow coastal road between beach and the residence. Now, advertised "Sea view" is valid for only certain rooms, seen only through the trees from the balcony. In the first room we stayed for a few days, our view was an unfinished ugly concrete building in a parking lot and ghetto type housing from our balcony with the heavy construction noise as a backround music.(!) We love to relax in the balcony in the mornings and late evenings, but this balcony was uninviting.with depressing view. But when we moved to the room number 4, we started to enjoy our stay. From this balcony, we could see the sea and ugly building was behind us, away from our eyesight. We were happy. Mrs. Fatima the owner, works as a pharmacist under the building. So she is there in the pharmacy until 6 pm. everyday. If you need something, she tries to help whatever she can. Some of the pots and pens were really old and unusable. But we did not use the kitchen at all. Just made coffee in the morning. Super U supermarket, shopping mall and many restaurants are just 5-6 minutes walking distance from here. The location is perfect. Right next to Super U, there are fish, chicken, burger, pizza fast food restaurants side by side. So if you want an inexpensive yet tasty meal, you may get cold beer from Super U and order your fast food and enjoy an open air lunch or dinner. We ate different fish dishes couple of times and liked it. For the tours: When you turn right and walk about 10 minutes on the Coastal road, you'll see many many tour operator shops. So the first day on our arrival, we collected all the brochures of the tour companies. Each one had different tour on sale. (and they all go to the same places with similar quality transportation, even if each one of them insist, "ours is the best") So we made a list of tours we would like to take. We picked 6 tours. For each tour, we took a note of the lowest prices from the brochures we collected. And the savings we made in the total amount made a huge difference. All tour operators were willing to accept our price offer if you take all of the tours from them. And we enjoyed our tours! Just to give you an example: One tour (ile aux Ceres on Catamaran) we paid 2800 rupees for two persons, other couples in our group, paid for the same tour 5000 rupees for two persons (Some said they bought the tour through their hotel's desk, some said they bought from a guy at the beach). So it helps to shop around. So, if I go back to Grand Baie, would I stay in Bano Beach Residence again? Location is really great. Location / price ratio, cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms and kindness of Mrs. Fatima...many good restaurants around... Super U for every need. Yes, for sure. More pluses than minuses overall.…
