There were good points and bad points to the Le Lagon Hotel. It is a 3 star hotel so you cannot expect top standard... but at the same time you do expect at least hot running water, clean towels, a few more plug sockets (in convenient locations!) and another long mirror for the customer... wouldn't have gone amiss! I was disappointed that wifi only seemed to work downstairs or on the terrace (and not in my room) and the very old television set was a sign of very much needed upgrading required generally in this hotel. Whilst we were staying there, there were problems with the showers and drainage. Not great. And I did notice that the towels were not replenished either and I had to go down and request some. The sink blocked up and water was leaking from the toilet tap. To be fair to the managers and workers, once reported they did attempt to fix it , but the hot water was never rectified. It was not a problem when the high temperatures were rife in Mauritius (for the first week) in fact it was quite refreshing to have a cold shower...but once the temperatures in the country dropped and we had reported the non-existent hot water, it was unfortunately never sorted? On the plus side the breakfast and hotel staff were lovely. The breakfast staff (in particular Dolly) was very accommodating (even when it was past midday she always allowed me some tea and cereal! :) And breakfast was fairly plentiful with lots of variety of food to choose from. All the workers including Clavis, Jerry, Yannick and Sonu (and all the other workers) were all very hardworking and kind. Wherever they could help or assist with anything they would. The best thing about the Le Lagon was definitely the Terrace view and the fact that the hotel was situated less than 10 minutes walk away from Grand Baie (where there are plenty of shops and restaurants). If you are a traveller, and if you are looking for something basic (whereby you are not staying in Mauritius for more than a week) I would recommend this hotel. If you are staying for longer, research a nicer place would be my opinion. The best…
Le Lagon is a wonderful hotel. The view from the restaurant on the top floor is absolutely stunning. The rooms and clean and nice and there is Internet throughout the hotel. And on top of it all, the staff was extremely helpful. Usually when I first come to a new city, I have to ask hotel staff lots of questions and search for things to do. But at Le Lagon, they found activities for me to do to keep me busy! This is a fairly new hotel in the region and they are really trying hard to impress their guests and make a name for themselves.... The next time I am in Mauritius, I will definitely stay at Le Lagon.
Very nice place, with friendly professional stuff and good value of food. The restaurant located on upper floor of the hotel and presents unforgettable view to the Grand Baie Bay and fantastiс sunsets.
