LUX* Grand Baie, a modernist marvel seemingly dropped onto a crescent of sand on the northern shores of Mauritius, turns heads. This new generation boutique-style resort introduces travelers to the seductive, slow pace of island living. But not too slow… LUX* Grand Baie, mirroring the adjacent beach town from which it takes its name, is exciting and playful. Whether it’s the unparalleled culinary scene or the breath-taking rooftop experience, there is truly no other celebratory place to be. A real invitation to seize the moment.

A really big thank you to the LUX* Grand Baie Team, especially to the ones from LUX* Belle Mare (starting with Sheila, Hema and Bilal: ist was a great pleasure meeting you again and even spending time together, like friends. Thanks to Amar: you made our day with the perfect wine choice! Jennifer enabled us a really joyful honeymoon with a shooting at the beach! Awesome! We could write a lot more to each staff member, but that would be too long. Take care and celebrate life Kris, Sanjiv, Stephano, Ashveena, Ashna, Pravesh, Vick, Beelur, Ravin, Nitin, Vishal, Roopesch…. We hope to see you all again at LUX* Belle Mare!!!!! We stayed at Lux Grand Baie for 12 nights for our honeymoon and had the most memorable experience. On arrival to the resort we had a warm welcome with a welcome drink too. We were shown round all the facilities then taken to our room, a Junior Suite which was fantastic. Great view of the garden pool and sea. The bed is huge and so comfortable; we were even asked whether we wanted a soft or hard mattress before arrival! There are 3 main dining options: Beach Rouge, Bisou on the roof top and Ai Kisu. We tried out all 3. There’s a decent variety on the menus; even by the end of our stay we hadn’t got to try everything we wanted. Our favourite for dinner was definitely Ai Kisu. We had amazing sushi, and short ribs and they also did great cocktails. The gym was also impressive as is the spa. We both had a massage which was a relaxing experience too. The staff all really friendly and stop for a chat and keen to ensure the stay is going well We spent most days on the beach and never had a problem finding a sun lounger. We got to know Jeyen well, he was really attentive and he knew our drink orders within a couple of days! In the early evenings and after dinner we would have a cocktail or two at Beach Rouge. Nitin was very friendly and ensured we had a good time. Big thank you to Mehdi as we realised we left our car keys in the safe half way to the airport! He quickly arranged for a taxi to deliver our keys to the airport and saved us a whole lot of hassle

Wow is all I can say. Myself and my husband chose lux grand Baie hotel for our honeymoon and we are so pleased we did. The hotel was spectacular in all aspects, ranging from the service (which truly was top class, special mention to Kay from celebrations for her hospitality and Ashvan for his kind service, although truly all staff were fantastic), the services - we particularly loved the boat house services, where the hotel offers different water sports and snorkeling inclusive in your stay, the spa (we visited it every evening, the concept is extremely thoughtful and relaxing) the breakfast was devine with an extremely vast selection and each option was delicious, the pools, the beach adjacent to the hotel, the hotel room was exquisite. Nothing was short from perfect and we cannot wait to visit again.

Lux Grand Baie is a stunning newly-opened resort that’s definitely got the Wow factor. From the moment we stepped into its grand entrance with triple height ceilings, we were mesmerised by the view of the beautiful cove of Merville Beach and turquoise waters beyond, second only to even more spectacular views from rooftop pool bar and restaurant Bisou from which the Coin de Mire island is visible. Everything about the design of the hotel oozes style. We split our stay between the Residences set across the road from the main resort but connected by an overhead bridge, and the Junior Suites. The two-bedroom Residences are simply luxurious and spacious, ideal for families, and are self-contained with its own fridge, microwave and heated plunge pool, although our stay was marred by the noise of traffic from the road which was audible in the early hours of the morning - something we believe is being remedied as I write. The Junior Suites are modern, beautifully designed in taupe and black theme, and very well-appointed. However, too much space devoted to the bathroom ate into the living area, where the lack of an easy chair or sofa for evening relaxation is a point of complaint. Nevertheless, the rooms were kept immaculate by housekeeping team Avinesh, Lavish, Priyanka, Abinay and Noma. As a repeat customer of various Lux resorts, we have come to expect high standards of service - and while we were not disappointed, it is fair to say that service was not necessarily consistent across the hotel. Hence a call out to those who went above and beyond. Special thanks to Gopee, Kaleem, Hema, Suenna and Iqbal, familiar faces who made us feel at home right from arrival and were of tremendous help for the entirety of our stay. Head concierge Gopee, in particular, was instrumental in helping us arrange various trips and transfers around the island. Foodwise, we were in for a treat: Aikisu offered Southeast Asian cuisine, Bisou for Arabic Indian and Beach Rouge, Mediterranean — all of which were top-notch with plenty of variety and included in our half board package. Breakfast at Beach Rouge was served a la carte with a choice of European, American, Indian, Chinese and Japanese which, together with a visit to very well-stocked cold pantry, set us up for the day. We were well looked after by Roma, Bharuth, Anil, Kailash, Elisa, Abishek, Manish and Ramen. At dinner, service by the ever amusing Vik, as well as Rumi and Ashna, was just “top net”. We celebrated a special birthday at Bisou with a fabulous bespoke dinner menu crafted by our friends Chefs Subi, Sundeep, Ravi and Kunal formerly of Amari at Lux Belle Mare, who continue to tantalise taste buds with bold Indian flavours and a good balance of spice. Service was impeccable by Kris, Jorde, Shikha, Shekar and Jason. Aikisu, possibly the first East Asian restaurant of its kind in Mauritius, offers a culinary journey from China and Japan to Indonesia, via Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore in a setting reminiscent of Hakkasan in London - hence a must-try in my view. Judah ran a slick front of house while Head Chef Yussuf dished out highly authentic flavours, even by my demanding Southeast Asian standards. Sommelier Amar was always at hand to suggest the right wine pairing while attentive service by Girish, Shaad and Kishan was much appreciated (especially as there were occasional lapses in service on evenings they weren't there). If a tipple is your thing, then five bars - including the two pool bars at Bisou and Beach Rouge - won’t disappoint. We had a cocktail class with Vince, which was tremendous fun, while Stefano, Sanjiv, Nitin, Sanjay and Vicky kept us on a steady drip throughout our stay. In case you are wondering about the fifth bar - Maison Lux is by day Cafe Lux, but at sundown baristas Saleem, Sudir and Oliver turn into whisky experts. Watersport is why we keep returning to Mauritius. Thanks to the care and professionalism of Fazal and his team at the boathouse including Vanessan, Raj, Donovan and Stefano, we had a whale of a time. Their enthusiasm and attention to detail meant that not only did we have all the right equipment and advice for the conditions of the day, but also as beginners, we could proceed safely and confidently knowing we were looked after. Meanwhile, the beach staff - Rishi, Vishal, Roobish and Jeyen - kept us plied with ice lollies and drinks. Those who prefer the shade of a cabana by the pool will be pleased to know there are four pools in the resort, the two main ones watched over by expert lifeguards Satish and Vir. When it came time to unwind, I had the most relaxing massage at the Spa by Anusha whose magic hands dealt with every knot, ache and injury without my asking. The beautiful Spa, expertly managed by Pui, offers a bath ritual which is an interesting sensory experience as well as Hammam treatments, possibly the first of its kind this far away from the Bosphorus. If I had to be critical, Lux Grand Baie is perhaps pitched at the Instagram crowd who prioritise vibe and style over function and comfort. For e.g. the constant thud of a baseline beat from Beach Rouge music throughout the day could prove irritating to those seeking quiet relaxation. Or the smart control panels in the rooms might be a tad challenging for those less tech savvy. Or that if the only path back to the Residence in wet beach gear after an afternoon in the sea is via the lobby and reception, that might be embarrassing to some guests. But that would be to nitpick. Overall, LGB was a fabulous experience - made all the better by Superstars we have had the honour and privilege to call family. Jennifer, Ravin, Ramesh, Sheila, Kris -- a special Merci for making our time with Lux so special, year after year!

The hotel has a beautiful and modern architecture. We celebrated our honeymoon there and they prepared a nice photo shoot for us, a cocktail making class, cake and breakfast in the room. I would say that this was the highlight of the hotel including the beautiful view from the Junior suite and the delicious breakfast. We were surprised to see at first that the building is literally in front of a loud main street. The only way to go outside the hotel is with a taxi because there are no sidewalks. Be aware that the taxi in the hotel can charge you 3 times more per service. Additionally, the service inside the restaurants does not even reach 4 star quality. It is missing organization and simple basics in terms of service. For example, we had 5 different waiters every time. Generally, if you are looking for a life style hotel to make some good looking pictures this is your hotel. However, based on our stay there are plenty of other hotels that offer more for your money.

From the moment we stepped into the lobby, until the end of our stay, we were blown away by the stunning views and outstanding service we received. LUX Grand Baie is definitely one of the most beautiful resorts we have stayed at, and has to be the best service we have experienced out of all the hotels and resorts we have stayed at so far. We were received on arrival by Iqbal who is the most funny, friendly and professional concierge we have ever met, such a wonderful person who genuinely made us feel at home and at ease with his care and hospitality. He showed us around the resort and escorted us to our room which had a view beyond words, and a wonderful surprise they had decorated beautifully with roses for our anniversary. We also would like to give a very big and special thank you to Jennifer who is an exceptional individual. She ensured our stay at LUX was full of wonderful surprises and an unforgettable experience. She looked after us and did so much to such an extent that we simply cannot thank her enough. She booked us in for VIP dinners and lunches at the 3 in-house restaurants, had a surprise cake delivered to our room for our anniversary, and organised a cooking class for us, just to mention a few things! She made our stay surpass all expectations and it will be the most memorable experience so far. Thank you also to Wardah and Jerome from the concierge team, Rumi from the Beach Rouge restaurant, and Samuel from the gym. And all the staff in general who were all top class and made our time at LUX amazing. Will definitely recommend and would love to come back! Mr & Mrs Rafi

Too packed up. Crammed premises which made us feel looking for space and gardens to lawns. Our room was towards the parking lot and close by a motoway which explains traffic vroom vroom endlessly. Some ants found their ways into our room! Good part is beaches are sandy but big black rocks around so we avoided that zone. Room clean and looks good however though design is not reflective of an island so far away by itself. Glad we made the trip as Mauritius is a beautiful island, say Chamarel is something not to miss. Hotel is way overpriced for what it is. However new as it says it is, some part of premises already run down. We liked the nice weather, and the heated pool. Food was acceptable not so fine cuisine for a Five star. My wife hated the ultra modern interior designing and decoration. To conclude, we were quite disappointed as none looks the lush tropical vegetation of the island. Not fir our expectations, unfortunately !
