My friends and I checked in on 28th December for two nights. My room was absolutely filthy and had not been cleaned properly. One of the twin beds was filled with sand and the other had soggy tissues in it. The bathroom was gross and the shower contained the previous occupants hair. There was no running water or WiFi. I complained at reception and was given another room that was also unclean. Not a single apology was given. The staff clearly did not care. We decided we couldn’t stay in this filth and checked out. We were deliberately recorded as no shows so that we couldn’t leave a review on booking.com. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
This is most possibly the worst accommodation I have ever stayed at. My experience: Check in was great, easy and friendly. Room: The room is very basic, very old, poorly cleaned. Nice balcony, good central location in Grand Baie. However if you are ok with really really poor standards then go for it. We booked a 4 night stay, upon second day the wifi was down and we were told that it would be fixed throughout the day. Needless to say, upon day 3 we were told the same thing. We had no water in the bathrooms for 2 days. That means no flushing the toilet or taking a shower. We were told that it would come back on through the day, we went to the beach the morning and arrived back the evening with the problem still not sorted. When I asked for the 'manager' , she told me that she is just in charge of reception and not maintenance and there is nothing she can do. I was also told that the wifi being down is not their fault and that it's a damaged connection in the street, however the restaurant next door had perfect wifi. The bathroom in the room was honestly disgusting. The shower had grime was not cleaned. The toilet seat was broken and my room, sheets and bedding was not cleaned or changed. I decided I could not handle the no water situation and asked for a refund upon my 3rd night there. I was given my refund. The room was really old, not taken care of and the bed was super hard. Iv learnt my lesson, rather save up a little more to get better service. Although I do believe that even with budget accomodation, running water and cleanliness is of hygienic importance. Honestly, the location is not worth the disgusting service and room that you come back to after your day out in beautiful Mauritius. …
From the day we arrived there were issues. Reception is reported to open at 7am, on the day of our arrival the receptionist only arrived at 7.30am. The room was clean and it has aircon but this is where the pleasantries end. TV hasn’t worked properly, WiFi intermittent, often had to ask for toilet paper or coffee. Toilet seat doesn’t fit properly and for 2 days kept running. Given the run around regarding who the actual manager is and none of the issues were resolved despite being promised that it would be attended to. Request for a refund ignored as well!
It’s a budget hotel but it’s a good one! Modern, tastefully decorated rooms with air-con, wooden flooring and nice comfy beds and pillows. All rooms have a balcony. The best thing is the location – right in the centre of Grand Baie, within seconds of bars, cafés, restaurants and of course the beach. I definitely recommend. An option for breakfast would be nice to have.
If you're looking for a place to put your head down every night and a place that is central to everything in Grand Baie, then this is the place for you. This property is cost effective and comfortable. The room is basic but has everything you need to make it comfortable. I need to stress that it is very basic. You are across from Grand Baie public beach and are spoilt for choice in terms of restaurants, all which are in walking distance. There is a great restaurant next door called Cockoloco which I highly recommend. Staff are not overly friendly and you need to understand that you will be carrying your own bags up two flights of stairs. Since the property is on the main road with vendor shops right below and a restaurant next door, you can expect lots of noise. I wouldn't recommend if you like peace and quiet at night. All in all, a good stay for the price paid. I loved being able to walk everywhere and the vibe was electric.…
The sound-proofing was poor and the noise of the traffic from the busy street below was very noticeable, especially in the evening. 눇Excellent value for money and an excellent location right in the centre of Grand Baie, within easy walking distance of all the bars, restaurants and activities.
