We decided to eat at the Bond 1786 restaurant based on the positive reviews and that it was close to where we were staying in town. As we arrived and got out of our car, a sewage stench permeated the parking lot. We proceeded to enter the building, hoping that the odor was only outside but that was not the case. The smell was very bad on the interior of the building as well. Really not conducive to enjoying a meal, we left to go to another restaurant.
I was nervous booking since I had never been to warrensberg NY and had no clue about the area. We had a wedding down the street. Not only did they allow us to check in hours early, but they gave us a larger room. Room was very clean, adorable, comfy king size bed, new bathroom. There was a fridge and ice bucket, drinks and some dry goods (continental breakfast style food) down in the selenium. The grounds are so pretty! I wish we were staying longer than just one night! The restaurant was not open on sunday-monday, so we missed out on that. Casey was super friendly, and it was nice chatting with her for a bit when we arrived!
After an outstanding experience some 3 weeks ago, we (a well-behaved family group of 7) were disappointed to find friendly but poorly-trained service (dirty dishes were not cleared between courses, wine was not poured, etc.) None of the dishes we ordered were outstanding - fried chicken was over-breaded and over-fried, lamb ragout was minced and tastless, stuffed mushrooms were short on mushrooms and heavy on cream, tuna tartar was fine, but nothing special. Don't know if the chef was on vacation or there were staffing issues, but the result was a far cry from our previous experience.
What a lovely Inn, the Merrill Magee. It's full of family history, and has a charming feel of quiet old-worldliness, but with all necessary comforts. Our room was big and airy and pretty, though the weather was too warm for us to light the fire. There's a pleasant sunroom with coffee and snacks. And friendly chickens outside by the deck, if you're lucky. Dan is lovely - when I mistakenly left my shoes behind, he shipped them on to me pronto before we flew out. A real gentleman!
We just stayed at this Inn this weekend. It was so pretty. I love the décor and it was very clean. The room was just perfect and the fireplace a great touch. It was so quiet! I know there were other guests but I never heard them. The sunroom was nice where you could get coffee, tea, and snacks. I would definitely go back here. It was a short ride to the Lake George town, where we took a scenic boat ride. I loved this area! Thank you!
Relax on a super comfortable bed while you watch the in room fireplace burn. Sit on the back deck or in the sunroom and enjoy a coffee. 9 Miles to down town Lake George. Dan is very accommodating to your needs. The place is laid back and inviting.
Was looking for a place close to Gore Mtn. The Merrill Magee Inn is a great find. Beautifully restored and nicely decorated, the room had a fireplace, small table and chairs, and a comfortable bed. Each day, they provided a duralog for the fireplace. The Inn location provided an easy walk to town for groceries. A deli is across the street and a grocery store nearby. Very pleasant staff. Enjoyed a meal at the restaurant located on site (but in a different building). We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
It was all it seemed to be. Couldn't ask for more for the price. Just realized it was under a former name as I write. It was very quiet for our stay. The space adequate for our needs. Glad to have the King bed in the lowest priced room. The bed was oh so snuggly and warm for the very cold that we were up against on our icy getaway. The surroundings are beautiful with the winter wonderland that surrounded.
The place is beautiful from outside, is okay inside. Was somewhat taken aback by room size, or lack thereof when we checked in. I believe the gentleman that greeted us was named Dan. Very informative, pleasant to talk to. Pros- our only personal meeting was with Dan and that was a good experience. As I stated the place is beautiful outside, room to walk, sit. It was relatively close to our excursion and is close to Glens Falls, Lake George and Saratoga Springs. Cons- Room was smaller than I had expected for the cost. The room had a window air conditioner which as they notoriously are, was noisy. So, every start and stop even with the fan on constantly was heard and woke us up. They dont serve breakfast. I found this place in a B&B site so either there was a mistake on website or falsely advertising their place. I cant say which. Overall it wasnt a terrible experience but I felt a touch cheated from a money perspective.…
Came for a weekend to visit my nephews at camp nearby. The room was quaint, comfortable and clean. The innkeeper, Dan, was extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant is really cozy and the food absolutely delicious. The only downside is that no breakfast is served but I guess that is why the hotel prices are reasonable and they do provide guests with a coffee/tea machine in the rooms. Also nice touch with the eco-friendly toiletries in the bathrooms.
