This hotel was terrible! We wished we had stayed somewhere else but choices were limited on a long weekend. We called to book a king bed but were told there were none available even though the web site clearly had a room with a King bed available. We settled for 2 Queen beds instead. When we arrived we were greeted by a foul smell in the dirty stairwell leading up to the second floor. The room itself was somewhat renovated but not clean or fully functional. Hair on the bathroom floor, ripped bed sheets, stained pillow cases, stains on room furnishings (chair, kleenex box, etc) and a toilet that ran all night long. The beds were not comfortable either and the room did not have 2 queen beds but 2 double beds instead. Seemed like it would be a prime breeding ground for bed bugs - thankfully we didnt see any. The building itself is not quiet - could hear traffic, birds, etc outside. Breakfast supplies were low and there was no one at the front desk to check us out. Not worth the $136 - find another hotel!

We had to stay in Tonawanda for one night while my daughter had laser eye treatment. The Econo Lodge in Tonawanda was the closest, although there are many to choose from on Niagara Falls Blvd. It is well priced and clean, although the front lobby smells of curry, the people are friendly and the front desk service prompt. The room was large, comfortable and clean with two queen beds. You can control the heat and it works well. Beverage machine was out of order, and you have to walk to the service station at the corner to grab snacks and sundry items. Corridor is dark and cold...a little scary. There was a fridge, so prepare in advance to bring drinks. Convenient to restaurants and lot's of shopping in the area.

We (myself along with family members and friends) always stay at this hotel when we travel to Buffalo. Although we live in Toronto, Canada, we shop in the Buffalo area at least four or five times a year.

The location of this hotel is fantastic! It is right off the 290W highway, within 10 minutes of Walden Galleria mall and the Fashion Outlets mall. It's relatively close to the US/Canada Border as well. There is also the Boulevard Mall close by, as well as other restaurants and stores along Niagara Falls Blvd.

The best thing about this place, other than the location, has to be the price. We hardly spend time in the room so really, all we need is a bed and a working bathroom! This hotel can provide that. There are no frills, but there is a flat screen TV in each room with cable and free wi-fi internet. There is also a small continental breakfast offered in the mornings, consisting of toast, muffins, cereal, juice, and coffee (sometimes they bring out the waffle maker and you can have do-it-yourself fresh waffles!).

Overall, this place is decent for the price, good value, and awesome location.

However, please beware of the cleanliness factor. After several years of staying here, we did see a cockroach on our second last visit. We notified the front desk and they assured us they would fix the problem. The next time we went, we did not see anything, so it appears that it was fixed I guess. We also bring our own pillow cases, etc.

If you just need a bed to sleep in, on a budget, and you're not overly picky about decor and amenities, then this is the right place for you! :)

Stayed one Friday night as most hotels were sold out and was disappointed. AC was very loud in the room. Breakfast area was not very clean and chairs had stains on them. Hotel needs updated especially chairs in the breakfast area. Looked very dirty.

It was the worst hotel experience I have ever had. My complaints were the maintenance, housekeeping, and worst of all was the staff performance. I was constantly called out of my name, many of my family and friends were in Buffalo for my son's wedding. It was so bad that some of the family requested their money back and found another hotel.

If you are ever in Buffalo, DO NOT STAY AT THE ECONO LODGE
Because of remarks made to me I plan on taking my complaint further but I wanted it to be known that if you are looking for a nice spot Econo lodge is not the place

Traveler to US Nigaara Falls/Buffalo Alert:
Please DO NOT STAY to Econo Lodge Tonawanda or motel 6 at Niagara Falls:

They overbooked and ask you to stay in another motel more than 1/2 hour away in another town.
EVEN WITH reservation.

what happened: We arrived on Oct 12th at Econo Lodge Tonawanda and when checking in the hotel manager (who claimed he just arrived from another country for 2 days) said that there was no room and we have only one choice: to leave and stay in motel 6 Niagara falls, which is more than 1/2 hour drive for usin another town. We have no choice but to do that.

When addressing this to the hotel owner afterwards, the response of the hotel owner, Mr. Patel
the father of the General manager Rinal Patel, was very rude and very unapologizing. He simply says
"this is what happened on busy days. Rooms are overbooked and people will be sent to another one".

What he can do, he claimed, is to offer 20% discount (! generous, eh?) next time we stay.

He also said we are most welcomed to take legal action - although I did not bring it up.

Do yourself a favour and dont book/stay in Econo Lodge Tonawanda or motel 6 at Niagara Falls as they are owned by the same owner, Patel, and this seems to be their practice: OVERBOOK and KICK YOU OUT.

Do not stay here! Poor service and rude staff! I have never experienced this type of treatment before from a hotel/motel staff. When I had brought to their attention they had given me the wrong room type, they started speaking another language in front of me.

After driving from NJ for almost 8 hrs and stopping in Buffalo to visit some family, we went on a search for hotels around the area. After many stops and no room availables we stopped here and was told they had no rooms available but could put us in one of their partnering hotels. I asked if it was as nice as this one and SHE assured me it was, charged me 99.00 for my Frid stay and 179.00 for my Sat. The hotel they offered name is the CROWN INN and it should be called THE CRAPPY INN, it was horrible, smelly, sheets were dirty and NOTHING was working. I had to walk out to the front to tell them the tv was not working. They came in and played with an extension cord to fix it. Well it get better, after and hr or so we couldn't take the smell or the itching, we went back to the Econo lodge to complain and get our money back and the lady who tricked us into getting the crappy room was not there so some other RUDE girl said she couldn't refund us the money because we used the room for one hour. Well that's when thing got really heated, I asked for a manager, none available, I asked for the other lady, not available, I asked for anyone higher, none available. Finally she decided to give me a refund but kept 50.00. What they did to me and my family was misleading and not very nice at all. So on that note Thank you Hampton Inn for accommodating us when the Econo lodge wouldn't.

AWFUL. Arrived at 4pm, two hours past check-in time and our room was filthy. When I spoke to the owner she could care less and very rudely told me to just "come back later". When I asked if she had any other rooms that were ready since it was already two hours past the check-in time she rolled her eyes and said "it won't take long, they only have to make the bed." I corrected her and said the entire room was dirty, not just the bed so she gave me a new key and said "Try that one". When I asked what she meant by "try" she said "Try and see if that room is clean" and then she walked away! Awful woman, horrendous customer service. The room smelled like sewage and the bed was as hard as a rock. I would never give my money to an Econo Lodge ever again. These people should not be running a business.

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT STAY HERE! The "hotel" was absolutely FILTHY! When I checked in to my room, there were clumps of dirt on the tile! The remote control was covered in grime and filth, (in fact, it was so filthy that I even tried to wipe it down myself. But, there was so much grime on it, it didn't help! It was caked on from never being cleaned!) the bedspread looked filthy with cigarette burnholes in them! The sheets had stains on them as well. The sink was clogged and even the furniture was chipped and broken. There was no hair conditioner and only one soap. The towels were old, ragged, and looked unwashed as well. I woke up with a rash from the filthy sheets! There was a spider web above my bed! The carpets were filthy as well! The owner of the hotel was Indian and I couldn't understand anything she said. When I misunderstood what she asked, she BARKED at me! This has to be the very WORST "HOTEL" (If you can even call it a hotel!) I have ever stayed at! NEVER AGAIN WILL I EVER STAY AT THIS FLEABAG HOTEL!
