Dingy old motel next to the highway. Overpriced. Room was clean and freshly appointed but really small. No place to hang things. Outdoor hallways. Heavy security. I suspect that other online reviews are sock puppets. Dark walk at night under highway to downtown.

Hotel's Favourite
In May '22 we spent two nights at the Quality Inn and Suites in downtown Syracuse. Our experience there was mixed but it exceeded our expectations, which were fairly low, going in. We chose it because it was modestly priced and within walking distance of St. Joseph’s hospital and Armory Square (the city’s main restaurant district). We had read the negative reviews and we knew that area of the city was a kind of rough so we had no illusions that this was a five star hotel or that it would even be up to the standards of Quality Inns in the suburbs. This “inn” is a motel, not a hotel, and guests can get to their rooms from the parking lot or from the lobby, through partially enclosed and secured walkways along the exterior of the building. This was a plus for us as we were still COVID-careful and trying to minimize time spent in enclosed public spaces. It helped that we had mild spring weather during our stay. Getting to and from these rooms would probably feel very different in the cold of winter or during a summer heat wave. The three-story building is old and clunky with an exterior that is utterly devoid of charm but is being reasonably well maintained. Our room was clean, spacious and seemed as if it had been remodeled not too long ago. It had a microwave, a medium-sized refrigerator and a coffee-maker but, surprisingly for a so-called “suite”, no table on which to eat. It was darker than we would have liked, as the décor was heavy on deep blues and browns, but it wasn’t so dark as to feel uncomfortable. Our one window was on the back of the building and afforded an uninspiring view of the highway and an abandoned warehouse, but it did provide natural light and was partially screened and could have been opened, had we wanted to do so. Most of the other rooms have windows on the front, facing the walkways, and probably let in less light. The parking lot is unsecured but it is monitored by video cameras, which are watchable by the desk attendants. There was safe in our room that was big enough to store our laptops and other valuables. The area in which the motel is situated has seen better days and is a hodge-podge of industrial and commercial buildings, once-stately structures that have fallen into decay and a few small businesses, including a 7-11 and pizza shop. We felt totally comfortable walking around during daylight hours and the few other pedestrians we encountered were in no way threatening. The folk staffing the reception desk seemed to members of one family and could not have been nicer or more helpful. We would happily stay there again.

The reception staff were excellent- very friendly and helpful when we checked in and out. Nice hot buffet. The hotel and more specifically our rooms were clean and comfortable. The rooms come with a refrigerator and microwave. The location was convenient and parking was convenient.

We were at this hotel six years ago and it was fine. This time, it was not a nice experience. First, there was a strange odor in the elevator and even in our room. A mix of humidity and old cigarettes. There was a big stain on one of the towel and numerous stains on the comforter. The fridge had not been defrosted for ages and the microwave was… euh… well a picture says it all. Internet was also very slow. Overall, there seems to be a lack of maintenance and cleaning The lady at the desk was really nice and the free breakfast is a plus. Unfortunately we will not go back there

I booked the hotel in October of last year(2021) for the Elton John concert this last weekend (09/10/2022) I got a really good deal. So when I went to check in, they claimed I had no reservation and there was no way I got a room for the price I paid. I was told they do not have single queen suits (their website says differently) and they never have prices as low as what I paid (their website says differently) . They just did not want to give me the room for what I paid. Hotel price gouging for events should be Illegal. The room was not clean, carpet not vacuumed, furniture was dusty and the desk had some kind of white streaks on it. You could sit on the toilet and see outside around the front door. The smoke detector was falling out of the ceiling, and our key card stopped working after the 1st night. I know s**t happens, but treating customers like they are an inconvenience to you is not acceptable. PERIOD !!!!!!!!!!!

My sister and I were guests here recently and couldn't have been happier. Friendly and attentive service, and clean rooms. While the parking wasn't great at this time, they are expanding for the future. We would stay here again!

Front Desk was extremely friendly at check in and check out. Room was clean and well stocked. The parking situation is not great due to limited spaces. The surroundy area would leave one to believe that you are isolated but thats not the case. Stores and restaurants are a block or two away.

If you are travelling with children then don't stay here. The neighborhood is shady and not safe. The breakfast options close at 9:30AM EST which is very odd for an American hotel where most breakfast buffets close around 10:30AM. The front desk staff is very rude and didn't know how to print an invoice for me. The parking was under construction but there were no signs and my car almost got damaged. Everything could have still been managed by staff but the staff doesn't care and they pretend as if they are doing you a favor by letting you stay there.

This is our second time staying at this particular Quality Inn & Suites in the past few years and it was a pleasant experience both times. Clean rooms and quiet occupants, not to mention several free amenities like hot breakfast, wifi and parking. Convenient location near downtown Syracuse and friendly staff. Had a brief chat with the owner this morning and he mentioned room and lobby remodeling that is already underway and a complete rebranding as Clarion in the near future. Not to worry, that's still a Choice hotel brand so you can keep collecting your points.
