This was our second visit to The Roxbury and again, we were overjoyed! Our first trip was an overnight stay this past fall. We stayed in a mansion room and loved it. We walked the trails too the falls and spent hours just breathing in the fresh air and gorgeous views. The workmanship and attention to every detail is obvious. One thing you'll notice is how immaculate this hotel is. You can literally eat off the floor. We just came home from our second visit. We stayed at the motel location in Contemporary Room 4 . We enjoyed 3 nights that included wonderful New Years Eve! The black eyed peas at midnight were delicious! The staff worked endlessly to accommodate every guest's needs with a warm and friendly smile. Breakfast was delicious and the carafe of coffee was perfect! We were so excited to meet Greg and Joe. Both men are warm and engaging and we loved hearing stories about how they met, the love and work they put into growing their Hotel and the meaning behind Black Eye Peas at midnight! Thank you for a wonderful get a way. We can't wait to come back!…
After feeling trapped during the worst of the pandemic, we desperately searched for a place that we felt safe AND still gave us a feeling of being far, far away… AND spoiled. We are incredibly grateful to have found The Roxbury Motel/ The Roxbury at Stratton Falls, its welcoming owners, Greg & Joe, and its warm & hardworking staff. We first visited in June of 2021. It was love at first sight. We have now completed 5 stays (in 10 rooms) in 1 year. I never imagined that I would feel the giddy excitement of visiting the same hotel so frequently BUT each stay is like Christmas morning! We anxiously look forward to discovering each of the MANY enchanting details in every new room. This is no cookie cutter hotel… no two rooms are alike! Luxurious whimsy is the law of the land. The Roxbury checked all of the necessary “boxes” for us: gorgeous surroundings (inside and out), magnificent & magical attention to details (inside and out), quality linens & bedding, wonderful toiletries AND beautiful pool & spa areas which will make you feel like you are at a far away resort. The Roxbury also addressed all of the new “must haves” that the days of covid added… excellent safety & cleanliness measures, separate exterior entrances to each room, windows that actually open to allow for fresh air into the rooms, a reservation system at each of the 3 spas that allows for private usage and the same reservation system for the pool area which prevents it from becoming crowded. We hope these things never change! Continental breakfast is included and ordered nightly via the website. I have read some reviews that prefer their “old” buffet style breakfast layout but honestly, for the current times, this method is the most sanitary. For those who need more, there is a wonderful café (The Watershed) up the “block” from the motel that offers baked goods, excellent coffees, teas, lattes AND a selection of breakfast options. We have stayed in every room category except for in the mansion. (That will be our next visit.) We have enjoyed each room category for different reasons. Each category has its own charms & benefits. I suggest exploring the website and choosing your room based on what you want from your stay. The original motel offers a close proximity to 2 spas, a magnificent mountain view outdoor living space, access to a wonderful deck with a firepit and comfortable seating. In this section, The Shagadellic room offers a full kitchen for those who want that flexibility. Genie’s Bottle is one of our favorite rooms… with its peaceful mountain view & cheerful & bright interior colors. Even the tiniest room, Studio One, had us smiling with its ”Maleficant-esque” feel & hand painted trees and moon wall murals. The motel NORTH section has larger 2 bedroom suites & “big king” rooms. We loved Maryanne’s Coconut Cream Pie. Incredibly whimsical and extremely comfortable. Being a corner room, it had beautiful light inside. Don’t miss out on the pie either… probably the best coconut cream pie we’ve ever had! This trip we stayed in the Final Frontier. What a fun room! Be sure to turn off all of the lights and make the living room as dark as possible before turning on the “special ceiling effect”. MESMERIZING! Also, keep an eye out for the glow in the dark tiles. The Stratton Falls location is a short scenic 2 mile drive away. The pool & breathtaking waterfall are located on this part of the property. With all of these gorgeous outdoor spaces, you never have to leave The Roxbury to have a different view. The Crooked Cabana pool area is the perfect place to unwind. Brazilian music and cocktails flow! Delicious fruit infused water is available poolside to help you beat the heat. Well appointed changing rooms are located in the Crooked Cabana. A reservable larger spa tub & sauna are also here. The Mansion, Tower Cottages & an outdoor living space with fire pit are also at this part of the Stratton Falls property. The lobby is inside the Mansion & is another “not to miss” space. Just as at the motel lobby, coffee & tea & snacks are available here. We have stayed in two Tower Cottages (so far). This trip we stayed in the glamourous Lost Horizon. Inspired by Old Hollywood, this is the most elegant of all of The Roxbury rooms. Absolutely swoon-worthy! Like most of the Tower Cottages, this room had a screened deck with a dining table as well as an open deck on the second floor with sun loungers. We finally got to share this very special place with friends, this trip, and have already made believers of them. Last winter, we stayed in the Crown of the Pendragons cottage. It was the perfect luxurious romantic stay. This cottage has one bedroom. The entire second floor was an amazing bathroom fit for a Queen and her King. During this trip, EVERY room was sold out but you would not have known it... it was as peaceful and private as ever! We could gush about The Roxbury for days. If you love whimsy AND luxury then this is the wonderland you are looking for!…
Willy Wonka picked up beetle juice and moved Alice in wonderland to THE ROXBURY AT STRATTON FALLS! Cleanliness 10 staff attentiveness 10 design 10 layout 10 you can see where this is going EVERYTHING was a 10 from start to finish! I have stayed at hotels in 20 something different states and about 10 different countries the Roxbury was the coolest by far! The gentlemen who came up with this concept should be in the hotel/motel hall of fame! They missed nothing!! And I actually met one of them and he was super cool to talk with!! We will def be back!!
I Made a last minute reservation last night for a girls getaway. This am, less then 12 hours later, we had to cancel due to illness. They are keeping the payment for the one night. Wow. So many horrible things I could say about the bad feelings I have.
Friendly staff and owners! Clean, high quality rooms, suits, and cottages all with their own creative touch! Be sure to check out the hot tub and sauna located in the crooked Cabana! I highly recommend a stay here for a one of a kind experience!
I was there celebrating my retirement. Megan ensured that my experience was extraordinary! She went above and beyond to make it memorable. The Genie’s bottle room was an amazing site to see! Thank you Megan!
My husband and I spent 3 nights here for our 10th anniversary. We stayed 1 night in Cinderellas Gown and 2 in the Beautiful Blacksmith. Not only the rooms/suites but the entire grounds are meticulously maintained. *Very* clean, spotless in fact. I was impressed as many of the rooms/suites have marble, mirrored and brass surfaces which you can easily tell are cleaned routinely. Spotless. Upon arrival you are swept up in this world of whimsical, wonderfulness. Emersed in detail, whether it be the 1920s, Faery lands or Gods/Goddesses you are taken to a place which dreams, become reality....which is exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to feel spoiled, taken care of, and something new. The Roxbury 100% took care of us. The facility was beautiful, the staff were outstanding! I loved the breakfast bags... Such a cute idea, and more than enough to start your day. We left feeling refreshed and looking forward to returning. We absolutely will be repeat guests and look forward to our next adventure at the Roxbury🧡💚💙…
This was our second stay at the Roxbury and honestly it hits on all cylinders. Picked the “Angel Hair” room which was a fun Charlie’s Angels theme. The room is on the first floor of the North tower so it’s a little dark but it’s no big deal, great for sleeping. Sheets divine, comforter down or down alternative insert a Little crunchy sounding but very cozy. Staff all great at check in. Lots of rules and regulations so know that this isn’t a party hotel- thankfully!!! Glad to see the attention to detail. Also note while the included breakfast is nice, it’s nothing to write home about. I’d skip it and head to town for breakfast. Shimmer spa with hot tub and sauna great. Would like to have been able to hang out with more friends there but the rules dictate only one room at a time. No big deal! Highly reco going to the sister Stratton falls property and hiking the trail. So pretty and thoughtfully constructed for photo ops. Very cool. Also the Watershed coffee shop, chappies, and the Roxbury general are do not miss spots in town. Will be back to stay at the Stratton falls hotel one day. Both are great hotels to stay and explore the area.…
The motel was a delight! We stayed in the Partridge Nest which was bright and cozy. Though the room was small, it had everything we needed and the bed, towels and accessories were top notch. On our first trip since the pandemic, the Roxbury staff went the extra mile to make sure everything was clean and sanitized. I wish o didn’t live on the opposite coast as I would like to stay in each of the themed rooms.
We stayed here in April 2022. I follow certain groups on Facebook and something popped up about the best hotels in NY. I glanced at it and saw this hotel. After going to the website, I was obsessed. How awesome! My family had tickets to the new Legoland in Goshen, NY that we just wanted to use after holding onto them for 2 years. This place was about 2 hours from there and about an hour to Cooperstown NY which I picked as a second destination. My biggest complaint is that this place seems to be in the middle of no where. Where are stores?! Maybe this is more for nature loving people... or maybe I am missing something. We comes from Long Island, NY so these remote sparse areas are unfamiliar to us. When I say in the middle of no where - I don;t mean nothing is around... there are other houses, etc. I mean the overall town? Area of NY? The good thing was it was SO quite due to this type of location. When we arrived, the front desk was s helpful. Answered multiple questions, directed us appropriately. We chose the coconut cream pie room. We chose this because I have a 10 and 7 year old who hate sharing beds but the pull out couches in the other rooms were only doubles so if they share, I like putting them in a Queen to give them more personal space. The coconut cream pie room had 2 pull out twin couches which fit our needs perfectly. The room was very spacious... and amazing!! The boys were so excited walking in, anxious to explore. The room is very detailed and we loved the double shower. My kids never saw that before and were enamored. A minor complaint was the breakfast situation. We were instructed to pick 4 things per person plus a drink, condiments etc on the website. I did that, but we only received half of our order and when we went down to get the rest, we didn't get it all due to supply. That was annoying as we had 4 people to feed and we carefully selected our options. Overall, this was a very fun overnight stay and I just wish it was closer to us to do another one.…
