My husband and I decided, to drive three hours upstate from LI to check on our summer cabin and instead of turning right around and heading back home, thought it would be nice to stay overnight someplace nearby. We found the 1850 Inn and Tavern in Rosendale, NY on line and what a find it is! James greeted us warmly...

The staff is very friendly and the rooms are very clean and homey. It is about a 20 minute drive to some great hiking and rock climbing. Within walking distance to restaurants and bars. I can't wait to go back during the summer to hang out on the back porch! I can't wait to go back.

My wife and I, at the very last minute decided for a quick get away in the Hudson Valley. We booked room #5 corner room queen bed facing the river/stream. The room is very nicely appointed. It's clean and spacious. The mattress was very comfortable too. But the best part about the stay is how friendly and "at home" the...

We decided to visit 1850 for a weekend away. We now visit the 1850 over 3 times a year - minimum. We love the 1850 house and how amazing the owners and staff are to us each and every visit. They make us feel like home, they take such good care of us and are now truly a part of...

You don't often find a place as special, unique, and historical that you can also sleep in. The staff are all great. The included full breakfast is real & fresh food, no skimping. My only issue, which is the case most lodging places these days, is that I am not a fan of Kurig coffee and I would have loved...

Let me say this: We are soooooo happy places in New Paltz were booked! This is 6 miles from there, not really expensive, There are cute places to shop and places to eat just on the same street but you can also be in New Paltz in 12 min or - in the other direction - Kingston in 15 min....

Our stay here was unforgettable. We arrived to our cozy room with fireplace aglow and champagne on ice (a perk we got for booking direct on their website). The owner gave us a tour of the inn where we fell in love immediately. Beautifully furnished with comfy couches, fireplaces, and antiques everywhere --an 1850's feel with all of the modern...

I'm a traveling musician, and I've stayed at the 1850 House five times. I love it! The pine plank floors, the comfortable new beds and bedroom furniture, the just right bathroom fixtures and products...all make me feel at home. Remote control heat and air, new wall mounted TV's, great Ikea lamps and leather chairs. No weird antiques, no weird B&B...

We just happened upon this inn online after a random search for Hudson Valley hotels. Even our local friends were not familiar with Rosendale, but what a great find. The inn was just fantastic, beautifully restored and full of character. The rooms were clean and spacious and very comfortable. The town is very small with just the main street, where...

I enjoy the 1850 House, because of the location and the atmosphere. The rooms are nice, but if they put you up on the third floor, it is a challenge because there is no elevator. The young gentleman who checked me in, did carry my bags upstairs. So what irks me about the 1850 House, is the note that they...
