I stayed her overnight as my son was visitng the college. The house is an older building with large function rooms on the first floor. I booked a two bedroom room on the second floor which was actually lovely. We couldn't believe that the light switch was an old fashioned push…
We were visiting campus so it was a great location. Old charm but beds were hard to sleep in. It is great for a college visit but that is all it is meant for. That is the only purpose to stay on a trip through NY.
I stayed here with my daughter for a visit to Vassar College. Our room was charming and historic, but a little worse for the wear. Do not expect typical hotel or b n b services and you will not be disappointed. The bed was comfortable, though. Lots of extra blankets and…
We stayed the night here, as our son had a tour at Vassar the next morning. it is the best place to stay in town and walking distance to some good restaurants. It feels a bit like staying at your Grandmother's house. Cozy and historic.
I have stayed here twice now and it does not disappoint. Well appointed rooms in a historic setting. Various libraries and parlors to relax and soak up the ambiance. Only regret is that on site restaurant and pub is not open. Would LOVE high quality dining on site.
"Rooms at a nearby hotel will suit most people much better. if you want really want to stay on-campus and are OK staying in a college building that has guest rooms, keep your expectations low, and you may enjoy the beauty of the building and the history. Otherwise, there are rooms for the same price that have all the ameneties a stones throw away."
"I would choose a room that had a private bath."
"Make sure you request a bathtub if you need it. Rooms on the ends are more spacious with more interesting design elements."
"There is not "service" at Alumnae House in the way that there is (or should be) at a hotel. Staying here is not about "service." It's about the glorious architecture, location and grace of the building."
