I stayed here with my daughter for a visit to Vassar College. Our room was charming and historic, but a little worse for the wear. Do not expect typical hotel or b n b services and you will not be disappointed. The bed was comfortable, though. Lots of extra blankets and pillows so we were able to be cozy. The...

We stayed the night here, as our son had a tour at Vassar the next morning. it is the best place to stay in town and walking distance to some good restaurants. It feels a bit like staying at your Grandmother's house. Cozy and historic.

I have stayed here twice now and it does not disappoint. Well appointed rooms in a historic setting. Various libraries and parlors to relax and soak up the ambiance. Only regret is that on site restaurant and pub is not open. Would LOVE high quality dining on site.

Stayed here while dd was on a campus overnight. Room was spacious, lovely and quiet. Private bath had the old style huge bathtub with curtain that encircles it - I haven't seen that kind in years! Staff was friendly and helpful. Will be back -have already booked a return visit! Like living in a castle!!!

Quite an experience overall. First, our reservation was confirmed by email but when we arrived there was no room reserved for us on that night. I should say that all the staff we met were very apologetic and wanted to help but it was still a bad situation for us. We were given the option of taking two semi-private rooms...

We stayed here recently in order to be able to walk to a Vassar event. We arrived after 4:30 pm on a Saturday night so we had to pick up our keys in Main Building at VC. Not a huge problem, but if you are taking the train/taxi to campus, you may need to plan on walking the 5-8 minute...

You want to visit your college student at Vassar. The Alumnae House is right across the street, promises bed and breakfast, and convenience. What could be bad, you think? So you book a room with a king-sized bed for two ($145/night, plus $20/night for the extra person in the room). It'll be like staying with family. The first surprise comes...

Nice hotel if you're visiting Vassar. Can walk to the school and the restaurants nearby. Clean and and large room that 3 of us stayed in. Breakfast was excellent at Babycakes Cafe. Felt like we were staying in a mansion from a time past.

It's a little known fact that visitors to Vassar (not just alumnae) are eligible to stay at this lovely old inn. It is a 5 minute walk to the two restaurants included for breakfast (we had a fine breakfast at Babycakes). Rooms are large and ours had a private bath. Elevator to the floor. Free hot chocolate, tea, coffee available...

The room I was given was large and comfortable. The staff was very nice and made me feel quite at home. I loved the vintage Vassar artwork too. It was easy parking, and I had great breakfast at Babycakes.

“Rooms at a nearby hotel will suit most people much better. if you want really want to stay on-campus and are OK staying in a college building that has guest rooms, keep your expectations low, and you may enjoy the beauty of the building and the history. Otherwise, there are rooms for the same price that have all the ameneties a stones throw away.”

“There is not "service" at Alumnae House in the way that there is (or should be) at a hotel. Staying here is not about "service." It's about the glorious architecture, location and grace of the building.”
