I came to this hotel after a horrible experience at Super 8 (do not ever stay at the Super 8, they gave another customer a key to my room and they walked in on me while i was alone, in bed!) After that horrible experience at the other hotel, I was accommodated quickly by the owner of the hotel, and he and all the staff here were wonderful and i really enjoyed my stay here! This hotel was so much more friendly!
This is an old motel which is apparently being re-furbished. I stayed in a small room with a queen size bed (and thin pillows), a desk with chair, fridge with freezer shelf, microwave, and a dresser, wall-mounted TV and a small bathroom. The furniture was well worn, as was the mattress. The room had a stale smell and a very dirty carpet. The small bathroom had a shower with slow drain. The limited TV channels all had a fuzzy picture. This motel does not serve breakfast. Upon check-out, the owner apologized for the dirty carpet and informed me that other rooms closer to the street have already been upgraded, including clean carpet.
I’d rather not comment on specifics, but let me say they were well overpriced for our accommodation. We were at the end of a long motorcycle day and it seemed to be the only available spot we could find at that moment. There were a number of issues bordering on cleanliness, etc. if thinking about staying, I would inspect the rooms first.....
I wasn't sure I wanted to stay second day in Plattsburg at the time i was there... owner was super nice and no problem in allowing me to change my plans. Very helpful. Simple rooms... not fancy. If you are looking for fancy, this isn't for you. If you want a plain room just to sleep, this works great.
i was staying here while visiting a friend of mine it is located off of interstate 87 exit 39.if your looking for a inexpensive place to stay for a couple days or so you can come here.your just acroos from the beach or lake champlaine.you have a dinner next to the motel called gus red hots which i just wrote my review of the dinner. then you have MCD's ,pizza, and if you go down further toi think the name is cornael road or street make a right and keep going they have other rest and fast food places you can go to .the room my friend and i stay had two beds each was in a sep room. for the most part it was some what clean.i don't know how the other rooms look lie but from this room it need some work in the bath room, it took a while for the hot water to come up.you can only take a shower cause there is no way you can take a bath.they have two tv's one in each room, they do have a stove, micowave and a frig. if you want dishes and folks and knifes you have to ask for them.from what we were told the reason they don't keep them in this room is to many people would take them for sovernears which i can understand why they don't have them in this room it can be in all rooms but really don't know and don't know how the other rooms are or if they are the same as the one we stayed in. but i was not happy with the way it looked inside.but for a few days with my friend it was ok.all i can say is don't just go by the room we stayed in you will have to see how the other rooms are it is just this one was the only two bedroom they had so can't say how the others look inside..but the folks are friendly if you need something they are pretty good on getting it for you in a timelly matter not like some places you have to wait for some time.i give this motel a rating of 81/2…
We stayed there for the price but it was a mistake. 1. Manager refused to print a receipt 2. Refrigerator barely works 3. Microwave (also) barely works. 4. Unclean room and bathroom. 5. WiFi didn't work AT ALL. 6. TV works great. Recommendation: Spend 30 more and stay elsewhere.
I was tired and needed a place to stay. My room was tiny. Trust me when I say that. Not a place I recommend to a family. I was buy myself and the price was expensive. After I was booked in a police vehicle came to interview a few women... air conditioner was working and loud. Wifi excellent. Car park lighting was good. Bring earplugs when traveling. Also couldn't close the door blinds and the room was very bright. For me it was ok, restaurant was next door... room security was excellent door locked well and you can park your car in front of your door. No pool. No breakfast.
We felt this place was GREAT especially for the price!! The rooms have been remodeled, a little small but clean, cute and cozy. The staff was wonderful!!! We even came back after our flight was delayed in Burlington, so they life savers for holding a room until we got there. There weren't any rooms in Burlington or car rentals so we were in a bad jam. There's a gas station, dinner and beach bar all within walking distance!
We could not find a room anywhere in Plattsburgh. All booked. Gas station attendant told us about the Rip Van Winkle Hotel. We were exhausted and had no other choices. We got the deluxe room! Kitchen counter and sink, covered with cigarette burns as were the carpet and the mattress. Horrible!! We were charged $100.00 for the night. If we weren't so tired we never would have stayed. The next morning we couldn't wait to leave. Told the desk clerk that they should use our hundred dollars to buy a new carpet or mattress. Just deplorable! Worst place I have ever stayed.
This was my second stay with my girlfriend after one year and it was good, regarding Price it has increased compared to the last year since we had kitchen unit for the same Price we paid this last time for an average room, i dont know if it is related to the season. All was well organized and clean but i would suggest them to have better pillows. We had room 101 and Wifi signal was not strong enough in our room so each time we needed it we had to get out of the room to be able to get connected, this was the same problem of the last year and they still have not solved it.
