I stay here for 3 nights and there was one gentleman who was living in the motel. When talking to a few of the other guests our staying there they informed me that he has people in-and-out of his Room that all hours of the day-and-night hes always leaving and coming right back and that he has his girlfriend living in there with him who's always strung out. Listing here waiting for my house to close that I had just purchased while talking to some of the locals on Main Street I found out that the gentleman I am talking about is one of the big time drug dealers in Oneonta. The motel owners knowingly rent him rooms knowing he is a drug dealer...
Stayed here last Sunday while visiting friends whose son was playing baseball. Clean cozy and comfortable. Close to downtown restaurants and bars. Great value for the price would definitely stay here again.
Not a terrible place. I stayed here in the off season. The rooms were cheap. The hot water was slow to make an appearance -- had to run the shower for about 10 minutes. The bathroom was in pretty rough shape; definitely needs a make over. The beds were okay. The mini-fridge was cold. The heat worked and warmed up the room fast. The front desk lady was nice. The free wifi worked well. The location is good, as it is right on main street in Oneonta. I don't know why there are not more hotels or bed and breakfast inns right in downtown. The two hotels (this one and the Clarion) are the only two within walking of downtown, and neither is that good.
Wasn't sure what to expect after reading these reviews so kinda set my expectations low. Was very surprised when we opened the door and saw a very clean room that was made up very nicely. The front desk woman wasn't big on talking, but I wasn't there to have a conversation anyways. The room was clean and smelled nice, the bed was comfortable as well. The main attraction for this motel is LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! 25 Minutes from Cooperstown, our visit was to the Hall of Fame. There are super restaurants all within walking distance and Wal Mart is right down the road. Morey's for breakfast and Sal's Pizzeria for lunch/dinner/late night. Maid service did a fantastic job with our room, when we returned to the room, they had cleaned the room spotlessly, made the bed and even folded our personal blankets. Bottom line is this isn't the Holiday Inn but it's not as bad as the other reviews. If you are planning a trip to Cooperstown, this is a great choice and we will make this choice again. Good job…
1) No hot water! Unacceptable!! 2) Dirty bed sheets disgusting!!!! 3) Permanent residents in some rooms - smoking pot and playing loud music until late at night and that was a weekday! 4) not family friendly at all Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money to stay at a reputable hotel!!! there are others in the area!!!
Only place available at the time of our travel from Kansas to Maine. Next time, sleep in the car!!! There were cigarette burns in the carpet, the bedspreads were soiled, the room was dark and dingy, a light flashed all night long and worst of all NO HOT WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!UGH!
My husband and I stayed here May 19,2017. We were in town for Hartwick College graduation. I was really hesitant after reading most of the reviews. We found it to be dated but very clean. We were staying for 1 night and didn't expect it to be grand because the price was very reasonable. The bed linens were very clean and so was the bathroom. We had a kingsize bed on the 1st floor with parking right outside. The room was a little stuffy when we first came in but opening the window for a bit took care of it. The lady at the front desk was very friendly. The only thing we did find annoying was the toilet made a loud noise every time it was flushed
I booked this because it was the only place available in Oneonta. The beds were nice and well appointed-- great bed spreads, mattress and pillows. The room was clean but had old and tired furniture. The walls were well painted but poor taping and spackling showed through underneath. . It took a long time to heat the room with the window unit and a long time for the shower to heat up. I was glad I knew that from reading another review. All in all it was an acceptable place to sleep. I noticed no smells or other housekeeping problems mentioned by other reviewers. It was very close to I88 and located on Main Street. The price was very low compared to upscale hotels. We slept well which was what mattered most. There was adequate parking. From the front, the hotel looked presentable and old fashioned without being quaint. …
This place was just passable and ok to just have a place to sleep. Nothing else was appealing and it was quite run down. It wouldn't be a place I would choose to go back to, but just to sleep made to acceptable. I spent as little time there as necessary.
I booked this hotel for the following reasons: It was the only place I could find that had a vacancy for the 2016 MLB Hall of Fame Induction weekend in Cooperstown. It did not cost $400 a night as so many other places did. I could book the room and did not have to pay in full upon booking. I could cancel without penalty up until a couple of days before my reservation. (At our age, booking a few months in advance is always risky.) After reading the reviews of this property, I wondered if I should cancel, but I could not find anything else. I packed my own cleaning supplies and hoped that things would not be too terrible. I am so glad we kept the reservation. The town of Oneonta is charming and this property is right downtown within walking distance of several restaurants and a very quick drive to shopping centers and chain restaurants. Our room was on the first floor with parking right outside the door. When we first entered it, it did smell a little musty, but that faded away as soon as we turned on the air conditioning. (We had an individually controlled unit that worked very well.) The room is nothing fancy and has a dated decor, but it was clean and the king-sized bed was very comfortable. It had a microwave and a refrigerator (which we really used for bottled water and parts of meals that we saved for later). The television picture was really good and we got a lot of channels. There was a nice, big free-standing clothes closet, but no plastic laundry bag, no book of information about the motel, the area, or listing of TV channels. There is no swimming pool here, so it probably wouldn't be good for families with children. We wished that the room had better lighting, because at night it was really too dark to read. Also, the bathroom could have used another hook or two to hang clothes. We did have to wait awhile for the hot water, but once it came, the temperature and water pressure was good. I wish that there were some benches outside the property, but we had folding beach chairs in our trunk and just got them out to sit outside in front of our room and it was very pleasant on a summer's evening. We stayed 6 nights and had absolutely no problems.…
