Chumbe Island has only 7 bungalows, so it is a very relaxing and unique place. The open bungalows were nice and clean, only the eco-toilet did not smell very good. Food was really delicious. Staff very friendly. Snorkling trip with the ranger was good. But it was a pitty that we had to return the snorkling gear immediately after,so we...

Our entire visit to Chumbe Island was excellent throughout. Vera, the administrator on site and Matata, our marine guide, and all staff are friendly, accommodating and professional. The food was the best we have experienced in the last two weeks in Zanzibar. Exceptional experience we would recommend to anyone. Thanks to Kevin and all others who made our trip so...

This whole island and project is absolutely amazing. The most expensive tour we made on Zanzibar and it was worth it. The food we got was one of the best! Everything is ecological for a green footprint. The whole money is used to educate people and pupils from local schools why it's necessary to take care about our nature. The...

I rated this 4 star rather than 5 (which it was for us) so that readers wouldn't confuse it with a 5 star resort. The lodges are beautifully constructed from local materials - logs, sisal rope and thatch, but on a concrete base. There is a compost toilet, shower and sink with hot water. It is open to the lovely...

We loved our visit to chumbe island eco resort. Its amazingly quite and relaxing. The team are fantastic and very knowledgeable. We loved our houses by the sea. Sleeping in the loft which can be opened to see the sea in the morning is stunning. The food is great too. But of course for us the highlight was to see...

Everything about the Chumbe experience was excellent. The wading to and from the boat was a useful reminder to keep the luggage limited. The food is superb - fresh ingredients, wonderful flavours, generous portions. John is a great chef. The accommodation is unique and fun. The absence of a door or walls provides a wonderfully aerated feel. The Coconut Crabs...

My husband and I visited Chumbe on a day trip during our honeymoon. We wanted to stay overnight but the price difference was just way too much. The snorkeling was okay, as there was not good visibility and the corals were bleached. If you have snorkeled in places like the Red Sea, then it will not be impressive. The nature...

A great experience, really amazing snorkelling and the food was delicious. It was fun staying in a eco lodge - if a little close to the elements! The coconut crabs are brilliant. The staff were all very knowledgeable and helpful.
