During our roadtrip through Kenia, we've enjoyed a 4 night stay at Amboseli Bush Camp, which is quite close to the Kimana gate of Amboseli Bush Camp. We were welcomed by David and team, and the full staff has been super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. There are 3 tents and we've stayed in the one which is the closest to the kitchen, lounge and the camp fire that is lighted for you in the evening. The kitchen is fully equipped and super clean, which feels quite unique in the middle of the bush. We did a self-drive in Amboseli, for which a 4x4 is recommended. It was said to see how many animals did not survive the drought, which is quite severe as there has been no rain since last December. What we enjoyed the most was just sitting at the lounge, enjoying our morning coffee and watch the animals pass by the waterhole. Elephants, zebra, giraffe... One moment there is nothing happening and a few seconds later you will enjoy the animals right in front of you. Some advise: - If you have the opportunity, go on a bush walk with Dickson, definitely an experience you'll not forget! - Make sure to bring the ingredients for pizza as the team will be so kind to fire-up the pizza oven and prepare the dough for you. - Just sit back, relax and enjoy the views of Kilimanjaro and especially all the animals passing by the waterhole.

My family fell in love with Amboseli Bush Camp and would love to return. We stayed in Upper Camp. Gorgeous private accommodation with great views of Kilimanjaro when the clouds clear and very good service. The tents, the eat in kitchen and the dining room/ lounge all face a waterhole with Kilimanjaro in the background. We were lucky and we saw elephants in front of Kilimanjaro here. The tents were beautiful ly furnished and decorated and spacious, even with the addition of a single bed to our tent for our child. The bathrooms were huge and there were hot water showers. The outdoor shower could be a little chilly after dark at some times of year and opening and closing the tent zips to use the bathroom in the night makes a very slight noise. The outdoor seating around the campfire was beautiful and comfy. Lovely view of the stars and we enjoyed the campfire that staff set up very much. Self catering but kitchen equipment, dishes, drinking glasses etc and even water is provided, Staff will do the dishes for you. They also set up the BBQ/Braai if you are doing a BBQ/Braai and they make delicious pizza if asked in advance and provided with the ingredients. Staff also offer a guided game walk on the property. Wish we had had more time here to just relax and soak up the view. Highly recommend.

With the whole world reeling from the current Covid effect, travelling has become more complicated with the additional worry of the current prevailing situation. Amboseli Bush Camp is perfect in so many ways. There are two camps (upper and main). We stayed at the main camp, and took a walk to see the upper camp, which consists of two large luxurious tents, with a beautiful outdoor kitchen and lounge. The tents are more spaced apart, and perfect for two couples. As we had young children the proximity of two tents to the central area was perfect for us, with the third tent a little further off, at the Main Camp. Whats lovely to note is that you have the entire camp to yourself, even if you are less people than the capacity. All the staff wear masks and there is sanitiser all over the camp. The main camp comprises three tents, outdoor kitchen (with two wood fired pizza ovens next to it) as well as an outdoor seating area around the fire. There is also a beautiful lounge, with a full size dining table and a game viewing platform overlooking the waterhole, where we saw a huge bull elephant come to drink. The tents are spacious with comfortable beds, and good lighting. They are all en suite with a cold shower which is supplemented by buckets of steaming water by the ever ready staff, whenever you need it. There is also a "bush" shower near the lounge which is filled with steaming water when you need a proper shower, this was a wonderful experience. The camp is self catering, but the kitchen is fully equipped with gas cooker, fridge and freezer, all the utensils, crockery and cutlery you need. There are also two small barbecue grills (bring your own charcoal) This was very convenient as one only needs to bring in food and drinks. The staff are very friendly and ready to help with any request, they were more than happy to stoke up the pizza oven, prepare and make most excellent pizza - bringing the base and ingredients is a must do! One of the highlights was the bush walk with the resident Maasai tracker - Dickson. We did a two hour walk with the kids, and an early morning 5 hour walk the next day. This was definitely a highlight, as we learned to differentiate all the tracks and dung, and we tracked a myriad of animals by that alone. My review would not be complete without a mention of the famous Mount Kilimanjaro - the Gods smiled down on us as we had 3 days of full view of the mountain from sunrise to moonlight. The photos do not do justice to the beauty of this environment. For those who are looking for more to do, the Amboseli National Park is a short drive away to the Kimana Gate, where you can see herds of elephant at the swamp. This will be a place that I will visit more often over the coming months.

The drive from Nairobi to this place was wonderful. Had no idea what to expect with this place. But when we got there I just couldn’t believe that we were the lucky group staying here. We spent 3 weeks in Kenya and we all agreed that our time spent here was our favourite. The rooms were a real treat., especially during the night when the giraffes were right outside your tent. You truly are right in the thick of the park. The staff were fun and very helpful. They make great pizza. Everything you could want is there and very clean. It’s is so serene. Having a coffee in the early morning watching the waterhole. We thought this might not be the right one to pick because it was the least expensive. Boy were we wrong
