We spent two nights at the Awale Plage and had a satisfactory and comfortable stay. Our room (bungalow VIP) was very spacious with a large and comfortable bed. The place is reasonably clean and AC worked efficiently. We had hot water and the shower was decent. The hotel is set in a lush garden with a nice looking pool and...

It was a pleasant stay and the surroundings are lovely and quiet. The food was so-so, we chose to eat in the nearby Grand Popo. The room was very decent, though the AC broke down the next morning... You get used to these things in Benin :)

Stayed 2 nights in beach bungalow. Beach very close, not safe for swimming due to strong currents. Interesting to watch local beach fishermen come and go. Very slow breakfast service, good for evening dinner though. Be careful with biting insects - many present, no nets in rooms and air-con doesn't sort it either. Hotel not very helpful in this regard.

Actually we wanted to stay in Awale Plage with another couple for 3 nights, but we changed to another hotel nearby after 1 night due to... 1. Rooms full of moscitos: we had about a 100 moscitos in our room and no moscito-net, when we asked for one, we got one with a lot of holes. Staff left open the...

I was there several times. The rooms are very good, especially since the recent makeover. The VIP rooms are great. The restaurant is the best around. The fish is excellent. On special occasions there's a party on the beach. I highly recommend the place.

I am slightly at a loss as to how to correctly rate this resort...By Western standards it has to be poor, by West African standards perhaps average might be fairer, however in general even in Benin I am sure that standards could be improved. I stayed at this property for two nights with my husband during a weekend visit from...

This is the first time I have ever rated a property as terrible but our stay was most unfortunate.First of all we were offered a very small, dark and unpleasant room.We refused to accept it and were then given a much nicer room. After going out for a river boat trip we returned to the hotel and were unable to...

Lovely bright rooms. The menu is quite good but unfortunately the portions are so very small that I had to go out and eat again. My recommendation is stay at Awale and eat at the Auberge de Grand Popo.

Beautiful grounds and facilities. The pool was great and clean. It was lovely to hear the sound of the waves. Also the pool man was incredibly helpful and also helps find you coconuts to drink and eat for 300CFAs - best coconut i've had in a while. Cons - for the amount of money and staying at a beach resort...
