Detailed Reviews
Wing’s Castle. Where to even begin?? If you think you know, I promise you…you don’t. This whimsical oasis in the Hudson Valley may hands down be the most memorable stay I’ve ever had. Although a bit more challenging to book than the usual accommodation, I cannot emphasize how worth the extra work is to stay in this special place (just ask any of my friends and family, I’ve been RAVING about it since our trip there last month!!) Toni is welcoming and accommodating, ensuring that we had everything we could need while we were there and always tossing a recommendations for a new place on the grounds that we’d yet to explore. Although the pictures do represent the eclectic-nature of the castle, what you don’t feel until you arrive is just how classy and cozy the rooms truly are. We stayed in the cottage the attention to detail was truly astounding. Every inch of the place feels beautifully curated down to the vintage kitchenware and the binoculars in the sunroom (which you can frogwatch from!) Another thing that the pictures just simply cannot do justice to is the utter SCALE of the castle which you’re free to roam at any time of day. Exploring the grounds at night and watching the sunset at the mini Stonehenge (accompanied by our new friend Rabbit the cat!) will be continue to be some of my favorite travel memories ever. One last thing that you absolutely should not miss while you’re staying there is Toni’s tour. Hearing the tales of how the castle was built from her perspective was so unbelievably wonderful. We’re so grateful we stumbled upon this gem and hope that people get to stay here for many years to come!!!

If you love unique lodging, this is a must! Castle was amazing. We stayed in the dungeon room.so unique and fun. Had all modern conveniences . Connected by an underground tunnel to the annex but completely private. Amazing views all around. Toni, the owner was super friendly and gives a great tour of the property and it’s history. Stocked refrigerator with breakfast food, waters, coffee, fresh hard boiled eggs , milk and the most delicious muffins. Highly recommend this gem if a property

Host Toni is lovely and so helpful. The property is full of surprises and cozy nooks. We stayed in the annex room, I absolutely loved preparing breakfast in that sweet little kitchen. It was so well equipped. Toni filled the fridge with everything we would need to either prepare a delicious breakfast or just enjoy what was already in the fridge and ready to go. It has two fireplaces, access to the outside courtyard and to the upstairs walkway. There is also a door that led to the dungeon and a really cool tunnel that leads outside. So much to discover about the property, not to mention some of the most beautiful views and sunsets you will ever see. Short ride to Rhinebeck, which is a gem in itself. A night at the wings castle is a must.

Just came back from a weekend at the castle. Upon arrival Toni the owner gave us a tour because the weather was going to worsen and she wanted to make sure we had a good tour of the property. The property is amazing with beautiful views. We stayed in the cottage across the street. It was very spacious and clean. The fridge was stocked with bagels, local eggs, milk, butter, cream cheese, yogurts and granola. There was also a selection of small dry cereal boxes, teas and coffee. The kitchen had a stove and was well stocked with cooking supplies if you want to cook. Also had a wood burning stove which Toni set up in case we wanted a fire. Beautiful all glass sitting area over looking a large body of water. The downtown area of Millbrook had a few great restaurants and was close to the castle. Tonis was an amazing host. Had a fantastic stay and will return.

Absolutely charming location, and incredibly fascinating story. So glad our stay came with a complimentary tour from the owner, Toni. What a wonderful story and history to her home. Stunning views, insane details in the castle both inside and out. So many nooks and crannies to explore, sit, and enjoy. The tour is a must to truly appreciate the castle! Stayed in the Dungeon and Chamber rooms. Highly recommend for a weekend getaway!

My daughter who thinks she is a princess and was given to the wrong family and I went to stay at Wings castle. The cost was about $250 dollars for the night with breakfast which I will discuss later. The room was quite a work of art however my daughter (who is 21) and myself were quite disappointed and discussed how we should of to Mohonk Mountain House with that money (been there together too and we both loved it). The grounds were cluttered with just crap and we were taken back. If Mr. Wing did not leave his junk out (and he has too much of it) we would have had a better first impression. It could be so pretty and breaktaking without looking at rusty cans and tarps and just junk thrown around. The moat was gross and in much needed repair. In the house the smell of old just hit you. There is way too much stuff in the kitchen and living room to even appreciate. I felt like I was in an attic of a long lost house. Just was too much. The room we stayed in was very nice however not worth the money. We got breakfast for an extra 25 dollars which was down the street and was good however for two egg sandwiches and coffee we only spent about 15 dollars and I guess left a 10 dollar tip.
I really do admire and appreciate the castle. So much work has gone in it and it is quite breathtaking to see that one man and his wife built it. However if you are going to spend that much money to rent a room clean up. I would not go back. I could not even go downstairs and seat and had to spend all my time in the room. Outside the view is breathtaking however the grounds really need work. Peter is you are reading this...clean up the outside, plant some flowers and all that neat stuff you have space it out somewhere it is too overwhelming and quite smelly. If you put work in the aesthetics of the place I think you can be quite successful.

This "house" needs a lot of work. The place is run by only 2 people,(they are the cleaners, recepcionist, managers, etc) husband and wife,
The husband believes he is a vietnam heroe and is constantly checking the entrance to avoid turists taking pictures (without paying)
If you want to pay over $250 and stay in a place following this family's rules do it. I felt observed all the time and I just wanted to leave early in the morning.
There is no professionalism. It's like being in jail paying.
The water in the pool is black. full of frags

We stayed in the cottage Pete built across the street. It's got an similar fairytale vibe, but more on the a subdued Snow White feel than the amped up wizardry of the castle. Both spaces are extraordinary. This is a destination hotel. Go when it's likely there are few people there and chat up Pete. The enormity of the lifelong project will overcome you, and he may take you on a tour of the various rooms and rooms to be. Unforgettable. We swam in the moat (it's really a modern pool), and loved our breakfasts. Don't even think of staying elsewhere.

Even though we appreciated the effort it took and the time (44 years) to build this unique castle, the cottage offered to us across the road was not worth the $225 plus tax rate, didn't appear fresh, no TV, and being separate from the main structure, makes it a bit isolated.
