We spent three nights in the 'pavilion', a very grand roundish building with a high ceiling and beautifully carved doors. It has efficient air conditioning and a large balcony, as well as tea and coffee-making equipment. Despite being in the garden, we were not bitten by mosquitos at all - a vaporizer is provided, like in most accommodation in Mauritius. The hotel is very close to the new Beau Vallon mall and within walking distance of Mahebourg, or a short bus ride from outside the hotel. Breakfast was very good and the restaurant, outstanding. It was a joy to sit on the veranda of the old colonial-style house with beautiful napery, jolly guests and delicious food.
First impression is very mixed. The 4 cabana rooms look very basic, and the sole Superior room (which we had) takes time to appreciate. Old and weather-damaged wood, bathroom with large stone elements, a hidden fan next to working AC, and lots of windows with holes where mozzies can creep in. But hey it's a large room, even two bathroom sinks, and good bed and fast wifi. The pool is small but well maintained. For a guesthouse it's good value for money, don't expect a star-class hotel with associated pricing. It's all however compensated by the excellent service and food. Breakfast with fresh home made jams, pancakes and eggs made to order. And dinner (optional) in their own Creole restaurant with excellent and well-priced dishes. 10 mins from airport, cab costs Rs 600.
We found this spot because we had a quick night before heading out on an early flight. They arranged transportation for a small fee to and from the airport (super nice driver). The accommodations were great (clean and cool style), and the service was wonderful. Delicious restaurant for dinner and they even packed us up a breakfast the night before so we could have something to eat before our flight. I love that we could stay at a local place vs. doing a chain at the airport. Would easily stay here again!
We stayed here for one night just after airport arrival in the evening. Zo only can judge for the sleeping quality, Shower/toilet- room and breakfast, which all was OK. After breakfast, we departed in our rental car for the westcoast flic en flac area, taking a detour along the North-east-, North- and North-west- coast. WIFI internet was OK.
Lovely warm B&B with your own private chef, ie the yummy Creole in house restaurant & a very cheeky resident long haired doxy. Rajistry (I think that's her name) is friendly and super helpful. She organised taxis @ competitive rates - I checked (btw taxi fares in Mauritius is expensive!!) and tried to get me a dolphin/whale watching spot at the last minute. Arrived at 3:30am and they left the lights on and keys at the door of one of the cottages. At 3am all you really need is a short taxi ride, no human contact, welcoming bed, hot shower and air-conditioning. They also left a 1.5 litter mineral water in the fridge. I did trigger the cottage alarm by accident (thought it was the air conditioning controls) & the night watchman came immediately (so guess I tested their security which proves to be working). Re hot water, you have to wait a bit but it will come. Value for money I reckon & convenient location. Throughly enjoyed my short 3 day stop-over trip. …
The rooms are quite spacious, the beds are confortable, the bathroom is nice as well and everything was really clean. The wi-fi is also perfectly working in the rooms. The garden is really big with a swimming pool in the middle of it. Breakfast is included: bred, fresh juice, coffee/tea, pancakes, cake and bananas from the garden. In the evening you can eat at their restaurant for a really reasonable price, they serve local dishes as well as pizzas and pastas. The staff is adorable and always there if you need something. I really recommend staying there for a few days.
Nice, quiet, slightly rustic property with quaint little chalets situated in a beautiful garden 10 minutes' drive from the airport. Beautiful house, serves dinner and cocktails, breakfast in the garden. Worth it particularly if you're catching an early morning flight or you just need somewhere to stay near the airport. Everything was just perfect. The beds are particularly comfy!
very nice place a bit far from town and there isnt much around except a super market 5 mins walk so if you want to eat out you need a car or take the bus room are clean and spacious clean linen a verynice garden to relax when you come back from a visit but if you are like me and need internet to book your next plane and hotel dont go there i was there for 4 days and could not connect on internet more than 30 seconds very annoying when you are trying to book something other than that i recommand this place good value for your money
We stayed in Le Jardin for one night before our flight back home. It has good location close to the airport which was important for us due to the early flight. We got the bungalow number 3 which is comfortable and has all necessary facilities. The place has its own restaurant for dinners (really nice decorated) and small bar for lunch. Food is very good and prices are reasonable. Taxi will take you to Blue Bay for 200 Rs (5-minutes drive). Overall we had a pleasant stay for very fair price. Recommended.
A very good option for us last night on the island when we had a late flight departure. A grand colonial-style villa with a big garden gave a peaceful end to the holiday. Sure, the contrasts are big from leaving a 5 star hotel to move into a small cottage on the plot. But somewhere I felt the real Mauritius, nice reception from owners and sympathetic staff. The restaurant is really good and a table on the terrace overlooking the mango trees in a light breeze was a nice finish to the visit. There is a little odd guest room, but there seems to be under repair
