A fairly simple B&B centrally located. We actually stayed in an annex building which is a villa with 4 bedrooms each with their own bathroom (although not actually en suite). I had the largest room, with a large, comfortable bed, but a little dark as only 1 light. Had a fridge, hot water, air con, and flat screen TV (that i didn't use and i think only had 2-3 channels). They provided a large supply of bottled water on request. Power currently cuts every morning from around 2am until 6/7am which meant it felt a little hot at times until the AC came back on. No mosquito nets on beds, but very few mosquitos. Bit of a walk to have breakfast at the main building, so we actually went to Mirario for cheese toasties instead. Wifi available only in the restaurant. Not sure what other options are available in town, but this was comfortable for a weeks stay.…
We spent 2 nights at this hotel, which was quite expensive. But it was clean there and the owner Alex and all people there working were very friendly. I was a little sick, Alex she saw it and come with some medicine for me, which was really kind of him. It was all simple, but comfortable. And I was surprise, there were wireless so even in this "end of the world" it is possible to be connected to other world. The food was very good and tasteful. There on rastaurant was one girl, Tania, she was really really sweet and nice, she was pregnant so I hope she will be happy mother and all will go only good with her and the baby. They arranged for us also the car with driver so it was good, because it would be a little difficult to take us alone there around the island. The hotel was in the town so it was nice also to take a promenade there and look at people. So I recommend this hotel even if it is simple and a little expensive. But, the memory of that is worth.…
We spent 3 nights in Palhota. The hotel is ok, the room with attached privat bathroom is good and comes with aircon, tv and fridge. The problem is, that due to frequent power cuts electricity is only available a few hours per night between approx. 6 and 8 p.m. The tv is useless, as we only had one channel and it was totally blurred all the time. While other and cheaper places invest in a generator, Palhota at 80EUR pro night does not. We had dinner there the first night and they charged us 15EUR per person, while in other restaurants in town you can have an equivalent meal for less than half the price, including a soda/beer.
Simple and clean. A bit overpriced (although not really expensive). Wonderful home-made meals. The owners are extremelly helpful and are more than glad to answer your questions and give you guidelines about the island. They provide you with a car and driver (recommended) which will take you anywhere on Príncipe, provided the car can get there. It's a very slow paced place, ideal for relaxation hollidays.
It is a simple and familiar guest house which by the time we went could use some improvements but it is clean and the owners and staff make you feel very welcome. Food was great (we had breakfast and dinner included). All dinner meals were cooked by the wife and you have the feeling of eating real home made food when far from home! I did think that the rates were expensive considering it is a simple guest house and needs to be modernised. Their improving it now, building a new annex and the owner, Mr. Alex, is also going to open a new resort in the island together with some Portuguese partners. He also offers a service of 4x4+driver to visit the island which comes in very handy.
