Whiteface Lodge is our favorite winter get away. The amenities and resort are the perfect mix of nostalgia, rustic warmth and luxury. Somehow when staying at this resort - you never feel it is crowded and feel as if you are in a place of tranquility. It is almost as if time st

Love this place and all its resort amenities, can't beat the hot tub and the outdoor pool while the snow is falling and watching people ice skate in -8 ° weather. The rooms are spacious and the in room fireplace makes it feel warm no matter what the weather is outside.

We have been here several times. At first we came as a couple, because it is peaceful, luxurious, etc. The last couple of times we have brought our 2 youngest boys and they love it as much as we do. The game room, theater, pool, etc. are top on their list and they have already

Hi what’s the best way to get to the hotel from the airport (planning to fly in from New York) is we don’t have our own car/not driving? Any urgent advice would be very much appreciated!
I suspect the closest airport would be Burlington VT or Plattsburgh NY. Neither are very close. I would highly recommend renting a car when you get there. Otherwise call Whiteface Lodge and ask them what it would cost to be picked up. (Rent a car)

CORRECTION to my posting-there are 3 (THREE!) movies a day, not two as in my review. Sorry for the error.
Sorry I didn't try using room service. But i think it is available. The few times i asked for any help with our room, my questions were quickly answered & taken care of

Hi - a few quick questions. I understand that breakfast is included in your stay. Is this a full North American style breakfast or European/Continental style? Secondly, are guests permitted to consume their own food and drinks (including alcohol) on the grounds (needless to say, done in a respectful/considerate manner!)? Or are you obligated to purchase from a resort restaurant/bar? Lastly, is there any tennis pro on site or do guests just need to pair up if available? Thanks.
Breakfast was big and hearty and amazing. I brought some craft beers with me and had one in the movie theater, one in the pool area, and so on. Nobody seemed to notice. I don't think I'd hunker down in front of a fireplace with a cooler, per se....but a discreet beer or cocktail here or there is unlikely to draw any attention.

How close is this hotel to Town shops and restaurants? Can our teens walk to local attractions?
In the good weather, maybe but it's a good walk to the main town. There are smaller stores along the way. There are also many things to do onsite for all ages. There is a shuttle too I think.

What restaurants do you recommend for lunch/dinner? Thank You
we always go to the Lake Placid Pub and Brewery . we have three young children they have a designated play area ...we offen travel with other families with small children and that is where we go for lunch and dinner every time we go to Lake Placid... yes the hotel has very good food is pricey so what we would do is order pizza and wings from one of the local places they deliver it right to the room for the kids and then we would go have a nice dinner at Kanu.... last month we had dinner at Nicolas with two families and had six children all under the age of 10.... the food was absolutely delicious every meal is hand compared scrumptious pizzas were delicious too.... .. but they didn't have a dedicated kids menu so we just had to order them some shells with sauce.... a little pricey of a place to take children but worth it if you want a really good Italian food that's genuine.. plus being a small town its restaurants hve to be good... they're not going to last very long so the established businesses have been doing something right for many years.... they have to keep the locals in the tourists happy.... enjoy!
