We stopped here for 1 night on our way from Klein-Aus Vista to Mata Mata. We were welcomed by Hendrik (the son) and settled in to our chalet. It is pretty basic but fits the setting and was comfy. Not much to do here during the hot spell of the day but at 16h30 we met with Giel and went... More

Giel, our guide was the perfect namibian gentlemen showing us his rare finds of mesosaurus fossils. The tour is short but very informative. In addition to the fossils, the area boast rare dolomite stone formations and a big forrest of quiver trees. And do not miss out on the special music performance at the very end!

We arrived after office hours (9:00-16:00) and the only trouble of our stay was finding somebody to check us in to our chalet. It would be handy to know this beforehand, but it wasn't a big deal. The owner's son found us on site and was very friendly. We stayed in a self-catering chalet priced at 600 ZAR for 1... More

We intended camping at Mesosaurus but since we were wary after the long drive, we upgraded to the chalet. It was small and comfortable with a shaded outside area and braai. The views are incredible and the silence is priceless. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and Giel, who says he is the oldest fossil in the area, does... More

We didn't stay here but spent a couple of hours on a fossil tour and admiring quiver trees. The fossil tour was really interesting, the trees so cool and the views amazing. We did it as a part of our Southern Swing tour organised in Windhoek.

We loved Mesosaurus. We initially were planning on camping for one night but upgraded to a cottage. When we got there, we met Oom Giel, who enthusiastically told us to follow him in our vehicle to the Quiver trees, dolomite rocks and fossils. The guided tour was awesome, the sunset landscape immediately thereafter was incredibly humbling. What a magical place... More

Wonderful camping and fascinating fossils here - with beautiful quiver trees around huge dolomite plinths that provide a truly magical experience. The owner provides a great tour of the camping area and has wonderful knowledge of the area and its history. Great to stay and explore!

We stopped at Mesoaurus for 1 night en route to the Mata Mata gate at the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and found that there was more to this place than just a bush campsite. My European cousins from Switzerland and Latvia have summed Mesosaurus up very well. We too enjoyed the setting of quiver trees and dolerite rocks, the guided tour... More

On our one month trip to Namibia we have seen plenty of different accommodations across the country and price segments (see list below). The Mesosaurus Camp Site offers a spectacular location amongst quiver trees and exploring some 300 Mio year old fossils. We liked: very friendly and enthusiastic owner, evening drive with the owner was very informative and entertaining, 4x4... More

We stoped over here on our way back to windhoek. Very warm welcome by the "Father" of the house. Very secluded camp ground under trees with hughe bird nests. Very romantic! Nice and easy 4x4 Trail. Let the man of the house take you on his little tour of the fossils of the mesosaurus. He does it with such warm... More
