Well appointed bungalow, excellent location, nice view, lavish garden with Aloe Vera plants and lemon trees, tasteful breakfast & dinner, exceptionally nice personnel...Bakwa Lodge was indeed a beautiful experience. We were two family members sharing a Bungalow and we had a fantastic time. The hotel is ideally located on the south east of the Island with a direct access to the beach. Easy to watch the sunrising early morning. Easy to escape to Cats Island for a boat trip or a Kitesurfing ride in the lagoon. We rented a scooter to visit the Island (easier than a car to visit the island) and made a couple of treks with a guide. A special thanks to Reggie and his team who made our stay memorable. We'll be back!
Beautiful Ibiza style bungalows, top food, amazing food and nice people at this stylish small boutique hotel in Rodrigues. Incredibly good value at 300 EUR or so per night for our family of 4 including half board. Very functionally designed, clean and slick. Unfortunately our bungalow did not have a decent sea view, which was a big miss and could not be remedied. If you can afford it, take the big family bungalow, which has by far the best views as directly above the beach. No sun loungers provided a quirky mistake.
It was a long time since our last trip to Rodrigues, the reason why we decided to go for a family trip to this beautiful island. Each time we travel, we try hard to find a place that is as close as possible to what the destination represents for us. Bakwa Lodge is exactly what we were looking for Rodrigues. Simple, and authentic but yet cosy and comfortable. The villa we chose has an outstanding view on the sea with a quasi exclusive beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food was nothing fancy but very good with a local touch which made it special. Bakwa Lodge may be a small structure but the staff members have a big heart. Thank you for your hospitality.
We spent a truly wonderful week in Rodrigues island, experiencing all this beautiful island has to offer, enveloped in the hospitality at Bakwa lodge. The accommodation is well designed and the concept consistent and well thought out. The staff was friendly and helpful, the surroundings clean and inviting and the food very good. This is a high quality lodge in a beautiful setting. We want to visit again.
A beatififul place in an amazing location run by great staff. The rooms are beatififully appointed, the place is spotlessly clean and quiet. Exactly as in the pictures. The food was very good and the staff eager to please and helpful. Very cosy feels like home away from home... Can't wait to go back!!
We were a family of 16 and spend 1 week at Bakwa Lodge. The accommodation is excellent! Well appointed rooms with high quality bedding (we stayed in the Villa,1 standard room and 1 family room. The villa is very spacious and invites people to spend time there. Breakfast and dinner was included and every meal was a feast. All meals were plated, freshly made with great ingredients and tasted amazing. I do not recall having 1 meal that I did not thoroughly enjoy. The kitchen also catered for the toddlers and children. We requested to have dinner in the villa on one occasion and that too was executed to perfection. There is wifi at the reception / restaurant but we welcomed not being on-line. Side note: Rodrigues runs on its "own time" so don't be in a rush. As a whole we enjoyed our time so much that we will be back.…
We were two couples and stayed in the Villa after a fairly grueling trip in Madagascar. It was perfect. Our living area and deck overlooked the impossibly turquoise blue Indian Ocean. We were well stoked with refrigerator, Ice maker and Espresso machine. The stars at night were incredible. We slept with the shutters open to feel the lovely tropical breeze. It was private, quiet and beautiful. It's not the best swimming beach and the reef if far out so no near by snorkeling but as a place to relax and listen to the calming ocean it was absolutely perfect. The 1/2 board meals were good, service was unobtrusive. We stayed 3 nights and I wish we had stayed 5.
For me, Bakwa has become the place to go in Rodrigues. Everything is perfect, the rooms are big and clean with an awesome deco, the staff is very chilling and smiling and happy to be there too. And the food, oh the food is divine. And the massage was so welcomed after a long day of walking. And the stars at night, so peaceful. Can't wait to go back! Forget about wifi, the connection is very poor there, which is a good thing.
