Accommodation - reasonable rooms with en suite. Not international standards, but good for rural Ethiopia. Food - reasonable food with a pleasant shaded terrace to eat on, if desires. Location - convenient for boat trips to the Lake Tana monasteries. A little removed from the town centre, so quieter than some other hotels. Not likely to go walking directly from...

Checked into this hotel for five days. Enjoyed the lake view, the location and atmosphere. However I did not enjoy the mildew and smelly room, nor lack of Internet access in the room (only had Wi-Fi in the lobby and restaurant.) The rooms were charming but not very comfortable. Power went off daily, the shower and toilet sometimes didn't work,...

This hotel was nice and the room was decent. Had a lovely meal in the garden next to the lake and breakfast overlooking it. Food was delicious and good service from staff. Just a fan in the rooms without a/c. Can catch a boat right from their garden across lake tana where we saw hippos!! Beauitful!

The view over Lake Tana is lovely and the grounds are beautiful. Our room was Ok and had some African style hangings and decor. However, it was unbearably hot with no fan and also no mosquito net. There was a reasonable supply of hot water although on both evenings one of the taps in the basin did not work and...

The weird thing is there was no water drainage on the floor in the bathroom. As water kept dripping from somewhere near shower head all night long due to defect, the water ran down to the entire bathroom and it started flooding into carpet in the room ! I luckily woke up in the middle of night to realize that...

What a lovely setting on Lake Tana - the buildings are dated and the rooms all overlook the lake. The terrace and gardens are lovely. First room we were given had a faulty toilet so we were moved, second room the gauze on the windows was torn (so mosquitos could enter the room!) plus the gauze on the vent in...

We wanted to stay here but after seeing the setting, we decided against it. It looked depressing and location is far from the city center. So we decided to just stay here for a drink after a long walk along the southern shore of Lake Tana. Drinks are overpriced but the garden is nice and had a good romantic setting....

The location of the hotel is great and the service from the staff was excellent. We enjoyed the food and the live music for the Christmas celebration. The rooms are very dated and the bathrooms are tiny and outdated. Whilst room was clean, hot water was not always available.

We flew from Addis Ababa to Bahar Dar, so much easier than a journey by road, the flight was 45 minutes. The hotel is set by the side of the lake, you can walk out of the gardens on to a riverside path into the centre of Bahar Dar. The rooms were comfortable, but do not expect European standards.

For the price ($50/night) this place can't be beat. The gardens and patio are lovely with great birding opportunities. Boats arrive right to the hotel for lake and church tours. The path to town is good and pleasant to walk. Fine breakfast included. Tuk-tuks into town are cheap
