I've stayed here on several occasions, not out of necessity, but for the experience. The comfort, the food, the staff, and the camaraderie are what makes Johns Brook Lodge what it is.
It is a knotty pine-lined backcountry lodge with four bunkrooms (2 four-person and 2 ten-person)

My son and I stayed here for two nights and loved it. It was the perfect way to ease back into the rigors of backpacking for me, and a great introduction for my 11 y/o to the beauty of the mountains. We had so much fun! The college students who basically run the place are love

My friend and I stayed in a lean to. The lean-to was very nice; it felt very clean. You have to use an out house. There again it wa clean and well taken care of. (I typically prefer the woods over an outhouse)
It’s a beautiful location with easy access to a lot of trails.

Stayed at JBL for the third straight summer (fifth time overall), and thoroughly enjoyed it... as always! The location is fantastic, with access to multiple hiking trails of all levels and a lovely brook steps from the lodge. The staff are always welcoming and professional, des

This hut is great for the hikers. There is a lot of trails from there, the lodge is clean and have basic facilites. Of course this is a mountain hut so you there are some rules like quite hours at 10pm etc. But it's standard for hikers who wants to get up early and git the trail.

Hi ! I just want to know if some trail start close to the lodge, like accessible by walk cause we don't have a car and try to find a place to stay and hiking
Hi! I was wondering if dogs are allowed anywhere on the property. My dog hikes all the mountains with me and I want to stay here before we tackle haystack, basin, and saddleback but if not then I'll need to start prepping for camping! Thanks!
Dogs are not allowed in Johns Brook Lodge, however they are allowed in the Johns Brook Camps (Grace Camp and Peggy O'Brien) and the Johns Brook Lean-tos.

"Stay in one of the ten-person bunkrooms and choose a top bunk for the most specious feel"
"If you can reserve them way ahead of time, you'd get more privacy in the four-person bunk rooms."
"Best Views!"
"The lodge has two four-person bunkrooms in addition to its two 10-person rooms. They cost a little more but your foursome will have a bit more privacy than the other folks. Space is at a premium, so pack conservatively. You could be sharing space and meals with up to 28 people."
"4 person dorms would be slightly quieter."
