If I could give this place a half star I would for the friendly staff. But jeez what a dump. Just a one night stay was met with insect infestation, a broken door handle and a staff while nice, knows perfectly well it's a run down heap of bricks. Didn't know this going in as the reviews were 3 plus stars. Never stay here. It is way overpriced and possibly disease ridden with the insect problem.

To be fair, the hotel is under renovation so it was a bit of a mess. THE GOOD: staff was great, room was large, bed was comfortable, bathtub was huge, good water pressure, good free breakfast. THE NOT SO GOOD: furniture and decor is old and dated, bathroom is cramped, iron was old and didn’t work well, no elevator, hvac is REALLY loud when it goes on and off, walls so thin I heard my neighbors conversations. OVERALL: it’s decent, but I’ll probably stay somewhere else next visit to Ithaca.

almost everything. old, run down motel basically. 1st we booked a double room for me and my 10 y/o daughter. we were given a room with a single king and a jazuzzi a ft away, basically a love shack. we were then given a double room instead and spent an hour trying to get the keys to work. they ended up needing to be replaced and the lock physically fixed. the door was propped open when we took the room, and immediately after closing it we found out why, it was musty and smelled like dirty feet. the fridge didn't work, there were cockroaches on the walls, the plumbing barely worked, the paint was so thick on the walls and doors i was continually getting stuck in the bathroom, there were long black hairs in the bedding, it was gross. i asked the front desk if there were any rooms that were more updated with better air and she laughed at me and said that they are all like that. The next day I switched rooms and at that time was told that our old room was for pets. I'm not allergic to animals but who knows who/what was staying in there. The new room was also musty and damp but better air. We both got sick at the hotel, unfortunate b/c we were there to compete in an important sporting event. There was NO housecleaning, and the front desk was mostly unattended. This was easily the WORST hotel I've been to. More like a roadside motel that charges by the hour. On the plus side the breakfast was more than I expected. Overall awful, stay away!

One of the first things I saw when I entered this basic room was a wet, dirty towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. There was only one chair in the room, which was a broken desk chair. The box of tissues they had was also practically empty and the batteries in the remote had to be replaced. The breakfast was a basic one and instead of Greek yogurt, they had those small cups of Light and Lively yogurt which tastes like glue. On the plus side, the coffee was good, there were bananas, juice and bread. There were also waffles, eggs, and saugage, although I did not eat those. The staff was friendly and the hotel is located on a busy commercial strip, so it is near many restaurants. It is also within one mile of Buttermilk Falls State Park. There was free wifi, and a coffee maker and refrigerator in the room. With taxes, the room cost close to $300, but I guess the demand for hotel rooms is tight in Ithaca and they could get these prices.

Ithaca is hotel challenged to begin with, it’s not unheard of to pay $220 plus dollars to stay at the Rodeway - granted it’s remodeled - but it’s still a motel people. Having stayed at nearly all the economically priced options in ithaca here’s the truth - it’s slim pickings and those pretty photos they post - it’s usually a bold face bordering on ridiculous lie - the Quality Inn is no different. There are many vagrants in the parking lot all night, just having a good ole time. In the morning are the remnants and litter of Natural Ice cans and HUNDREDS of cigarette buts stacked in an ashtray. It’s really truly bad. I know it’s cheap. But Unless you’re stuck, do your best to avoid it. The staff. The saving grace was the nightshift woman. She seemed genuinely personable and caring. But that’s it. The others? From John to all the daytime ladies - well, someone must of crushed all their dreams, because they’re mopey bordering on angry. The highest level of service you should expect is for them to tolerate your presence in their lobby. Go ahead - you smile, be kind, ask them how they’re day is. If you get above resting bitter face consider yourself lucky. If you get a “have a nice day” you must have achieved pinnacle status of Choice points. If by some miracle they break a smile - it’s probably at you. I was there four days - they don’t greet you from the front desk - you’ll greet them when they arrive from whatever cave they hide in because they’re never at the front unless they have to be. It’s pretty clear none of them want to be there - can’t say I blame them. If your magnet key fails (as 5 of mine did, and the person’s behind me as well) there is a 100% chance that John will say to you “well, you must have deactivated it.” Doesn’t matter that you carefully guarded it from every magnet and electrical field on planet Earth. Even if you stored it in a hermetically sealed box John will let you know - it’s definitely your fault. Because it’s impossible for their grime filled worn to crap 1990 magic magnetic encoder could be the source of the issue. The room: the bed was comfortable - The pillows were good and it looked clean. Then there’s that delightful jacuzzi bath for your aching back. Well, you better be prepared to clean that sucker, cause evidently no one else will. Perhaps a discount for each glop of hair? You make peace with the fact that things are worn and dated at this price point, but why can’t they be clean? See the photo of the floor - I thought it was wet in two large spots, but it’s some kind of polyurethane spill (that’s what I’m telling myself, you can touch it if you want to know. I won’t.) There’s other problems too - but that’s enough. I checked out two days early. They kept one night’s payment. That’s the way it goes!

Stayed at this hotel end of July. If I could give it zero stars I would. Because we checked in with a dog they put us at the end of the hotel near their area for dogs. Which wasn't a problem. But the moment we walked into the room we were hit with a wall of humidity even they the a/c was running. No matter what we did the a/c didn't go past a foot from the wall. No other rooms available that night. Next day the carpet was soaked under the a/c unit. Went to the front desk to try for another room but nothing available that night either. They said they would send someone back to check on a/c unit. Came back late afternoon and room still unmade and a/c still not working. Per the front desk they were short staffed and the maintenance guy had already left for the weekend. Still no room to change to. Came back again later that night and room still not made up and no clean towels. Since the room was so humid or towels never dried. I tried calling up to the front desk only to find out the phone in room didn't work either. Had to go to the front desk just to get some towels. Next day requested another room. Finally got a new room for our final night. Next day upon checking out requested a refund for the first 2 nights of the horrible room and service. Manager on-site said she was putting it in for a refund that day. Called several times to speak to the manager and never received a call back. Took 2 months to finally receive the refund. Also, breakfast was included. We were better served with the food at Dunkin Donuts next store. Without a doubt the worst service and facility.

Didn't like the neighborhood. The breakfast was the cheap grab bag thing that every place in America is doing because of Covid, so there was a fruit cup, muffin, coffee, juice, yogurt, which is fine, but when you come in there's this big banner showing waffles. Take the banner down. No soap in the room. They said they were out. Then drive down to the Wal Mart and get some soap. Hall ways smelled musty. Wife thought it smelled like smoking. I see a review that says bed bugs. I didn't see that at all.

Great location and price, but the rooms are dark, moist, and musty. We found burn holes in our sheets and there was a lingering cigarette smell. Overall, gross. We won't be staying there again. I would rather pay $100 more per night to stay across the street.
