We stayed at the Hotel Ithaca as part of a wedding block. We were very happy with the location and the look of the lobby, and the rooms are modern, spacious and clean. You do have to reach far into the shower to turn on the water and adjust the temp, but the water pressure was great. The room could could use a luggage rack or bench.

When we were traveling through Ithaca, we decided to eat at the Cultivare Culinary Center, where students from Tompkins Cortland Community College receive restaurant training. Professional instructors run the restaurant with student assistance, and the center specializes in serving farm to plate fresh ingredients, which is indicative in the name of the restaurant.

Cultivare is located on the corner of South Cayuga Street in a seven story brick building. Inside the brick pillars and walls continue, and are nicely accented by the herringbone wood floor. Some tables were of wood with upholstered chairs and other tables appeared to be of mottled stone with wooden chairs. There was also a long bar that had aluminum metal chairs with orange cushioned seats. Large picture windows lit the room during the day and dropped lights by night.

My husband had the beef and prosciutto meatballs in a red sauce with burrata and Parmesan cheeses on fettucine with garlic bread. I had the black currant and orange glazed salmon over a rice trio with sautéed onions, yellow crookneck and zucchini squash. For dessert, we shared a Chai spiced Crème Brûlée, which had a good crack, the spices were there and it came with a pecan biscotti.

We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere very much, and should we come back to Ithaca, we would like to return and try other things on their seasonal menu. The place is closed on Mondays and only open until 9:00 p.m. on the other nights.

I thought my room was nice, clean and modern but the price of $159 with a total of $189.62 with taxes was just not reasonable!!! This price should have included breakfast of some kind. Without and piece of toast, glass of juice or a muffin the coast was just not reasonable. I decided to purchase breakfast on Tuesday, was told "though that aren't usually open Tuesday for breakfast they would be that day", but unfortunately it was 6:45 and they would not be open until 7:30 if she had a cook. Like I said, the room was nice, but cost will keep me from returning.

I’m not a very picky person about hotels but I would hope they would at least provide minimum services if you lying higher prices.

The pool was under maintenance which is not too big of a deal but it would’ve been nice to know that when we checked in or have an alternative option as most places provide that if their pool is unavailable. The bed was also so uncomfortable and small shower.

The pool was the least of the problem. They tell you when you check in to let them know if you need more towels or bed service, no big deal as this is pretty standard. But if we needed anything (toilet paper, shampoo etc.) we had to go to down to the front desk because apparently there was never more than one person working who could bring it up.

This was also very concerning to me that they wouldn’t be in your room cleaning to be able to see that you had no toilet paper or other shower products. Does this mean they don’t come in to clean your room at all while you’re there? Seems a little gross to me. We would’ve probably had to ask for cleaning products and go get them ourselves.

We were very unimpressed and when the woman at the front desk asked we told her we would not be coming back and why she did not seem very understanding and was a bit rude.

Not worth it at all.

I made a reservation for some days in June but few days before arriving I couldn’t find my reservation so I called the hotel and they told me my reservation was in May. I told them that I never made a reservation in May that it was a misunderstanding. I started checking on my spam for confirmation and I found they charged me for a reservation I never did for days I wasn’t in the area. I told the manager that I only had a reservation for June and not for May that I couldn’t believe I got charged for a reservation that I didn’t do. The 2 managers were not helpful at all. They both told me I did the reservation in May and that it was my fault and they couldn’t do anything. I was so upset and confused on why I would do a reservation on days that I was not in the area that I kept trying to explain to the manager Jennifer I didn’t do it. She didn’t care. Her service is the worse I have ever experienced. I lost $200 for a reservation I didn’t make and was treated horribly.
Jennifer told me to call my bank and complain. I was so upset that I told her I was going to give her a review and she said; if you give us a bad review I will cancel your reservation!! We couldn’t find a hotel so we had to stay in this hotel. We felt so uncomfortable. They never brought us towels, the bedroom was extremely dirty and twice someone tried to open the door, we had to barricade the door with the suitcases. I wonder if Jennifer and her team think that treating guests that way is ok. Please don’t stay in this hotels there are other hotels in the area that would appreciate your business.

We arrived on July 22 for a wedding only to see around 8 couples milling around in the lobby. Turns out the rooms weren't ready for check in. They said they were short staffed despite knowing how booked they were for the weekend. Both my wife and I and the couple we were traveling with didn't get our rooms until after 7 p.m. after waiting for hours in the lobby. We missed the first half of wedding cocktail reception that had already started by the time we got our rooms. During the weekend, nobody came to clean the rooms, take out trash or anything There's no free breakfast which most hotels offer. Even the coffee service was out of coffee every morning. The staff were nice enough and the location is good if you want to be downtown but I sure wouldn't go there again.

The location was perfect for walking around downtown Ithaca. I specifically chose it because I could walk to the start line of a half marathon I came into town to run. However, that's where it ends. The room was dirty and despite asking for turndown service twice, it didn't get any better. It is understandable that turndown service and cleaning services had to be requested due to COVID safety regulations, but when we did request them, they showed up only 1 time out of 2 requests and still didn't vacuum or even wipe down a dirty table. I had to swipe my own coffee pods off an abandoned cart in the hall. This was a very expensive hotel and I feel the service should have been much better.

Very tired rooms, dirty towels lying on the floor outside our room when we arrived around 4PM, and other rooms as well and remained there for hours, this is disgusting. Perhaps I should be thankful that at least this way I know they changed the towels. Being so close to perhaps the best hotel school in the world maybe they should try and get some hints. For 240 dollars a night I expected a lot more.

This is the second time we have utilized the Hotel Ithaca for our annual conference and they never disappoint. Kelly Fisher and the entire staff are attentive, responsive and so helpful. The Hotel has onsite parking which is hard in Ithaca and there is also a nice parking garage right across the street. The Hotel has many new updates and renovations and is very, very clean. I am a "townie" having lived in/near Ithaca my whole life and the building itself is currently the best it has ever looked. Many updates even since the COVID years. The food and service was outstanding, we will definitely be back!

Staff is nice but they don’t have sufficient help to clean rooms even when asked. Very disappointed as they promised a roller bed and also cleaning and both never happened. I would say that they should drop prices if they can’t even provide minimal service when even repeatedly asked. My advise is don’t stay here.

Rochester, New York
Are there mini fridges in the rooms?
Answer from Sonny K
Ithaca, New York
Hello. There are mini Fridges in all the rooms in the tower and the lobby rooms. we currently do not have fridges in the main building rooms. in the very near future, our new north tower rooms will be operational and they all will have mini-fridges as well. so we will have 100% of our rooms equipped. Thank you

How can I make sure I get a room that was recently renovated? I'm paying almost $300 for one night!
Answer from MontyKTown

Book somewhere else. I am serious - this is the most disgusting and dirty hotel experience I have ever had in North America. Dirty sheets etc. Get out while you can! For $300 you can probably book a renovated and VERY clean room with spectacular view at the Statler at Cornell. A totally different class of hotel for the same price.
Answer from SonnyKarimi
Ithaca, NY
The room that you reserved is in a newly renovated section of the hotel. It is not in the Tower and it is stair access only.
