We've always loved Homewood Suites, but this visit was remarkably bad. We purposely chose this hotel for this trip b/c it has a hot tub. We called in advance to check to see if it was working. It was so we booked our stay. When we arrived, the hot tub was not working. We were disappointed, and shared that with the front desk. They said they would inform the manager. We left it at that. Then Blake, the manager, called us after our stay. When we returned the call, it turned out that he had left the job. We were transferred to Mohammed, who was clearly fabricating "the notes" that were supposedly in "our record". He told us we received a discount on our stay as noted in the computer. We did not receive a discount. He then offered us a discount and said his business office would take care of it within 24 hours. Then..... nothing happened. The hotel was fine - the bed was comfy, everything was nice until the management started making offers and promises that they did not keep. Not to mention completely making up stories about supposed credits they gave us. iI was ridiculous.…
I can’t get over how much I appreciate the staff at Homewood Suites in Ithaca. We stayed there while we were moving in our daughter at Cornell. Mohammed, Richard, Mauricio, and all the staff (sorry I didn’t get all their names) went above and beyond to welcome us, help us with what we needed, offered us a place that is clean and impeccable from our room, the lobby, buffet, and dining area. Someone was always cleaning and sanitizing tables..and always with a smile. I found everyone to be sincere and very helpful. I had a few packages that the hotel received and kept for me upon my arrival. Mohammed retrieved them for me, (big boxes) helped me open them up, and throw away the boxes and all the while we were just chatting away like old friends. Everyone always had a smile on their faces and a warm greeting even when they were busy. It was a pleasure to stay there. The location was ideal as it is close to the mall and Target area (which we frequented).…
Stayed here before because of it's short distance to Cornell where my son attends school. Hilton hotels are usually pretty good and I always look to stay in one. But our room this time was not satisfactory. The room seemed to take a long time to warm up and it was about 20 degrees outside. But I thought we would just wait and see but it never got that warm and it was too late to ask for another room. The thermostat is set at a maximum of 76 degrees, but by the time it read 76, it definitely did not feel like it was even 70. I estimate it was about 66. This led to my wife and I having trouble sleeping because the normal blanket wasn't warm enough. After several hours and waking up about 4 times, I finally got another blanket from the closet and finally felt comfortable enough to sleep. Mind you, I was already wearing a long sleeve fleece sweater to sleep and it still wasn't enough. Usually I wear a t-shirt at a hotel because we could usually make the room as warm as we wanted. Not this time. The breakfast also wasn't so great. These are minor issues but also unexpected. The orange juice was in a large clear container full of ice, not a typical dispensing machine. Since it was so full of ice, the juice was very watery. There was also just one container of milk. No options such as low fat or almond. And at night when I usually get hot chocolate or tea, the hot water dispenser only had very warm barely hot water. Minor issues, but these I have come to expect everywhere I've gone. The bathroom also showed it's age. The ceiling above the shower showed a lot of dried brown droplets of condensed water. And another part of the ceiling showed clear evidence of an old leak. Besides the above mentioned. It was satisfactory.…
This was our first time staying at Homewood and we will now make this our home base for our annual trip to the Finger Lakes. Rooms were clean, breakfast was clean and plentiful, and staff was outstanding. Thank you!
The indoor pool and hot tub made my stay. The front desk was able to accommodate an early check in. The location was perfect for close access to shopping, restaurants and several NYS park and most important, the bed was surprisingly comfortable
We have stayed at this hotel in the past, when it was newer and cleaner. This hotel has definitely seen better days. I would not recommend it at its given level/lack of cleanliness. The bathroom was actually disgusting. The shower area had black mold growing in every crevice and we went to the nearby Target to get something akin to shower sandals to wear in order to use the shower, it was THAT AWFUL. The front desk service was two college-aged guys that were clueless on customer service and were truly lacking any kind of ability to solve or resolve any issues. Had we not stayed here multiple times in the past when the hotel was in far better condition, I would have assumed the hotel was never nice, but sadly it used to be nice and this visit suggested to us that either the hotel is under new ownership/management or they have cut corners in maintenance so low that they simply do not care if mold and bugs are in their rooms.…
Comfortable room. Great staff. Breakfast was standard self serve hotel buffet, scrambled eggs, potatoes, different breakfast meat each day of visit bacon then sausage. Fresh waffles. Fresh fruit, yogurt and cereal available.
They couldn’t get anyone to clean the bathroom that we found dirty or fix our shower head. Then you have to pay for secure internet after paying $600 for two nights. The location was far away from everything
this is my 4th stay at the same hotel, it's getting worse every time. You can clearly see the dirt in the beddings and the room service was worse. it was my first option due to their location, next time, i would prefer any other hilton location.
As a Hilton Honors member, I thought that I could sign in remotely and pick our room. When I called the designated H.H. phone number, I was told that "not for this property." We would have to sign in there. So we arrived at ca. 2:20 p.m., sat down in the lobby after standing awhile and waited and waited. This was despite the large poster in the lobby touting how quick and easy it would be etc. Finally at 4:15 p.m., we got our room key. HOWEVER, after watching the manager take care of younger men, I had to go to the desk, introduce myself as a Cornell alumna and as an attorney, impliedly calling out the manager's ageism and sexism. TAKE NOTE: This hotel, where I've stayed before is NO LONGER owned by Hilton. It is now owned under a franchise arrangement. Once in our room, we didn't notice till day 2, that we had to request that the room be made up, requiring a 24 hour notice. Also, because of our initial experience at the desk, we researched the taxes applicable to the 4 day stay. This information identifying the taxing authorities and the rate was NOT provided on the invoice, and we didn't trust the new management. All of the above said, the staff at the breakfast area and the room cleaner were pleasant and helpful. However, all of the above said, we're sad to say that we'll look for a different place to stay the next time we visit Cornell.…
