The Inn's location is convenient, and its staff seem friendly and obliging. However, I was placed in a room that had black mark all over the bed clothes, which I'm now fairly sure were fecal stains from bed bugs.

All hotels get bed bugs, since visitors bring them. This is the same for the most expensive new and plush establishments and the more run-down seedy ones. We are at neither end of that spectrum, we are a popular older establishment that is well kept up and affordably priced and most convenient to Cornell -- the most convenient in Ithaca....

Everything is old in this inn. The room that I was in had small beds, small shower, bad smell, no refrigerator. There were no free power plugs. They say that they have free breakfast, but it is just orange juice and hot water.

True, old established and very popular Inn, closest hotel to Cornell and in fact on the edge of campus, no need for transport. Small refrigerators are available for a room on request, and there is a general kitchenette area with large fridge, microwave and sink. We do give (and lose) power plugs to guests when requested, often running out as...

The room is a bit small and old, but the price is low compared to others nearby. It would be a good option for visit to Cornell University. It is walk-able both to downtown and Cornell University. Free parking.

I stayed at the Hillside Inn for 3 nights during a Cornell reunion. It was located less than a quarter mile away from my class headquarters on west campus. I couldn't have been happier that I stayed here and not in the dorm or having to drive back and forth to another more expensive accommodation. There was not a single...

The Hillside Inn must have been a house once. Rooms are puzzle-pieced together to make the best use of little bits of space and they aren't fancy but they're very clean and completely comfortable. Everything worked the way it was supposed to and the people working there were friendly and helpful. It's right on the bus line and central to...

If you want to be close to Cornell campus without spending a fortune, it doesn't get any better than the Hillside Inn. The rooms aren't large, and it's definitely not luxurious, but the employees are friendly and courteous, everything seems to be in working order, and the location can't be beat! Hands down my favorite place to stay in Ithaca!

We stayed here for a campus visit to Cornell and got a room with two beds - for one adult and two teenagers - the girls shared a bed and it was small - but fine. The room was small but cute - had the two beds, a desk, a chair and a little fold out chair that you could...

When in town, this is the first place I look to book. Main reason--location. I have stayed here alone, and with my wife and four kids (two rooms). The Hillside Inn is what it is. It is cheap, and the location cannot be beat. If you have the cash and are looking for some upscale digs--this is not the place...

In summary, you get what you paid for, yes it is really cheap for this area but we did not spend a pleasant journey in this hotel. Our room was small and the sink was next to the bed, the shower really needed to be cleaned or changed, the shower floor was broken. We had problems with the noise as...

It's always sad to see that someone had a negative reaction and that the stay did not match their expectations. In fact this reviewer had written a more scathing and generalized review with unfounded conclusions that was removed and now revised (she stayed in July). There are of course two sides to any coin, and just now I have taken...

It's taken me awhile to sort through my impressions of the Hillside Inn, and it took abnormally long for me to even calculate my rating. I guess I'll just lay it all out and readers can judge for themselves. The PROs: The price is excellent. I was shocked that hotels are still so inexpensive in New York State (under $100/night)....
