We stayed one night in July and wished we didn't have to leave! The hotel is charming and quirky. Staff was very friendly. It is located at the end of a residential street, the building doesn't have your standard hotel entrance since it was a candle factory but there was no problem pulling up and going inside to check in and then driving around to the back to park. There is ample parking in the lot and it was well lit at night. Our room was lovely with high ceilings, comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Had a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Great location with easy walk to restaurants and shops.

Hotel's Favourite
Great boutique hotel and is a few blocks away from the Main Street where all the restaurants and stores are located. The front desk staff were very friendly and gave us great recommendations about things to see in the area. There is a great brewery near the hotel called Hudson Brewery and the Hudson River is down the street from the hotel.

The Wick is an old candle factory (hence the name). We were traveling with several other people and had 3 different rooms. Our rooms were all spacious and nicely appointed. For some reason, we all had problems getting towels. When we got to our room there was only one towel in the bathroom. We asked for more and they did bring a couple. But our friends had similar issues with towels. The staff members we dealt with were all very pleasant and helpful in recommending some places to eat and giving directions. The hotel is not too far from the main part of town (Warren St. primarily). There is a very rickety staircase that goes up to Warren St. but we only tried it once and then decided to go the slightly longer way other times. The view from our room (and I'm guessing most rooms) is of a parking lot and some abandoned buildings. It looks like there's some construction going on nearby which might improve the look of that area. I thought the bed was comfortable and the linens were fine for me. Overall, it was a good place for us to stay in Hudson for a couple of nights.

Decent hotel. Room was fine. Not located directly in town but within walking distance to all of the action. There is a shuttle that looked charming but we didn’t get a chance to use that service. When you arrive at the hotel, a sickly sweet odor hits you immediately- that may be a strong cleaning agent. Not sure. Front desk was friendly and helpful. There are several Tesla chargers available.

The Good: -the building is an old candle factory, and it’s beautifully redone inside -good location -generously sized room with nice, updated decor -easy, friendly check in -ample parking behind the building Could be improved: -sheets were a bit scratchy -I forgot my eye mask for sleeping (I’m annoyingly sensitive to light when I sleep). For me, the fact that we were on the first floor which is level with the parking lot, meant I noticed car headlights. Also the smoke detector in our room was flashing a lot (needed a new battery maybe?) so that was annoying. In summary, if you a sensitive to light while you sleep, bring in eye mask; our room wasn’t super dark.

This hotel is confusing at best. Parking is in back. No place to park in front to check in, but that’s how you have to enter. Electric vehicle charging stations done work (except if you have a tesla) and there are rat poison traps near them. The rooms are musty in the basement. Oh - and the door into the hotel from parking lot collects water quickly when in rains - so get ready to jump in!! Not a worthy Marriott, in any case.

Clean and roomy — but in the basement with no window. VERY CREEPY to arrive late at night because it does not have a regular hotel entrance. It is a door on the side of a hill in a very dilapidated street. The photos are deceptive. The back where we were instructed to come in was dimly lit and tye parking lot was the back of a dilapidated industrial shipping dock. We had a few things we wanted to go back to our car to and just skipped it due to the creepy nature of the parking . At least add lighting and maybe fence it in… I realize it’s a national historic register which it’s cool that Marriot is investing to save it but it shouldn’t be pricey and they need to d something about yet CREEPY DIMLY LIT PARKING AREA .

My husband booked us a night at this hotel for a quick night away without our kids. It is in a great location and you can walk to downtown easily. The decor is very nice and updated in both the lobby and the rooms. The unfortunate thing is that our room was on the first floor which is underground with a small window at the top of one of the walls. We called and asked for another room but apparently there weren’t any available on this night. It was tolerable for one night but we would’ve not been able to stay there longer as the room felt like you were in a basement and was very claustrophobic feeling. My husband was also charged 10x on his credit card for the room. During check in the younger kid checking us in kept telling my husband there was something wrong with the computer as he repeatedly charged my husbands card. He then assured him it was only one charge and that it doesn’t go through until the middle of the night. Thankfully my husband checked his account as he had a feeling something was wrong and he was charged each time the employee used the card and for thousands of dollars over what should’ve been a charge for a single night. I’m assuming it was accidental or just lack of knowledge on the employees part. My husband spoke with someone who is going to refund the money which of course takes several days!! He also had to call his bank and was lucky his card wasn’t shut off.

Response from Wick Hotel, General Manager at The Wick, Hudson, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel
Responded 15 Jul 2022
Good afternoon, Thank you so much for the kind feedback. We appreciate all the kind words. We are historical property from the 1800s and were an old candle and soap making factory, which is why our building is the unique way it is. We apologize for any inconvenience you ran into during your time here with us. We did look through the folio and the card was only charged the room amount and the incidental fee. We hope next time you are in Hudson you come back and stay with us again for an even better experience than last time!

We stayed just one night at The Wick and it was totally delightful. The building was a candle factory and has been re-purposed. They did a great job. The public spaces are very modern, with an industrial vibe. They've embraced the building's former use in the decor with terrific results. The room itself was spacious, with a very high ceiling and a stunning chandelier. The bed was sooooo comfy --- and the pillows were just right. Easy-to-use heating/cooling controls and shower controls. The staff were friendly and helpful. The little electric shuttle can take guests to and/or from restaurants etc. Very helpful. We ate breakfast on-site and it was delicious. Location is good -- right by the train station and an easy walk into town. Wish the shower had grab bars and that the showerhead wasn't so high short people get only a trickle. Hope to have a reason to stay again.

The Wick may not be your usual Marriott, but it is absolutely up to Marriott standards. The place is funky but quite nice. First, it's a renovated warehouse. They fixed it up but left a few industrial touches. There isn't really any view to speak of, which would be the only strike but I don't care for views when I'm sleeping. Our suite was very spacious with quality furniture and fixtures. The beds were comfortable, even the pullout sofa bed by sofa bed standards. The bathroom was impressively large with a big shower. Even the toiletry amenities were good quality.
