More animals wander through here than most bush camps. I had an elephant come to breakfast one morning. The rooms are permanent tents, that they leave open. (For some reason the Baboons don't go inside and destroy the place.) The canoe trip on a channel of the Zambezi is memorable.

Jonathon and Karen were fantastic hosts, our compliment of guides were wonderful, the rooms were excellent, and the food above average. What more could you want? How about a canoe trip with angry hippos and lazy lions. Catching Tiger fish at sunset. Walking with elephants and wild dogs. This camp should not be missed.

Our group of 5 spent 4 nights at Chiawa and then 3 nights at Mondoro. At first, we were a little confused by the distinction -- Mondoro seemed to have less to offer...e.g., no pool, no wifi. This seemed to be a disadvantage, but in some respects it turned out to be for the better. We got the same incredible...

We just returned from four amazing nights at Old Mondoro. Jonathon and Karen made us feel very welcome and at home. The food was above average. The guiding and game viewing was fantastic. The canoe trip on Discovery Channel is a must do. We saw lions lazing on the banks, elephants crossing the channel and of course noisy and pushy...

I spent 4 nights at Old Mondoro with my grown up daughter ( her first time to Africa ) and the whole experience was fantastic. It was immediately clear that Jonathan and Karen manage a great team; the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, but every detail was in place and nothing too much trouble. The location on the river was...

I visited Old Mondoro for four nights as part of a photographic tour led by the excellent Squiver Group. From the moment we arrived via a 1 ½ hour boat ride from the sister camp, Chiawa, Old Mondoro’s undeniable charm immediately took hold. Greeted by the unrivaled hospitality of the camp’s caretakers, Karen and Jonathan, I immediately felt at home....

Probably one of the best Bush camps on the Lower Zambezi. Old Mondoro is set in a beautiful location on the banks of the Zambezi. We spent our first couple of nights at the sister camp before arriving at Mondoro. Its a small camp which provides great hospitality and far surpassed our expectations. The tented accommodation was simple but luxurious...

I stayed 4 nights at Old Mondoro along with a group of photographers travelling with Squiver photo tours. Our group of 8 took over the whole camp, and everyone would agree there is something special about Old Mondoro. It is a rustic experience, but also full of luxury. Your room is open to the elements, and you can sleep that...

Old Mondero is a fantastic camp. Karin and Jonathan were superb hosts with just the right balance of service, hospitality and relaxed companionship. The guides were knowledgeable and exceptionally friendly. The rooms are stunning with Elephants wandering within 15 yards and buffalo in the creek right outside the veranda. Saw the classic leopard lying in a tree and just watched...

This is a fantastic camp, I loved every minute of it. Lots of good game to see but more striking for me was the area, the river and all around it and the beautiful wooded areas and open plaines. It is really stunning and very quiet too, hardly any vehicles anywhere else. There is lots to do too including canoeing...
