The staff at this camp were absolutely amazing! Led by the amazing Elfrieda, we have never had such an incredible welcome or farewell. It was very emotional leaving this camp and the staff. Johanne was a fantastic guide and was knowledgeable about absolutely everything. This is a unique partnership between tourism, the community and a conservation project (Save the Rhino... More

The camp is beautiful and the staff are extremely friendly. A lot of effort is put into making your stay that extra bit special. Being on private reserve for the Rhinos is very special too. We were lucky enough to see more than 5 rhinos during our stay including a mum with baby. The guides are very knowledgeable. They also... More

Set in the middle of nowhere is a gem of a camp. From the tuneful welcome from the staff to the fantastic game drives it was a delightful 3 days. The wonderful Marvin even baked me a 3 tier chocolate birthday cake which was eaten under the stars. The trackers and our guide Johan did an incredible job to find... More

Out of all the places we stayed in Namibia, this was our favourite. Sadly we were only there 2 days and would have happily stayed longer. The staff were the friendliest we met and made us feel like family. The camp is beautiful, the surrounding area stunning and rhino tracking experience was out of this world. Thank you!

Incredibly beautiful landscape and wonderful tented camp. Wonderful warm welcome and hospitality throughout our stay. Food was incredible, with delicious vegetarian options. Fantastic experience tracking rhino on foot and very interesting talk by Save the Rhino trackers. Great evening nature walk as well. Once again an all-out amazing effort by Wilderness Safaris and their phenomenal team!

This has all the privacy, luxury, amenities, and attention you would expect from a luxury lodge in Africa. Guides are warm and helpful and ours, Herunga, was especially hard working with excellent English and respect for wildlife. Breakfast is typical and sufficient but dinners are really very good. We stayed here for two nights as part of our trip around Namibia. We drove in, leaving the car at Palmwag. The parking was secure and the road to Palmwag was amazing in itself. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Desert Rhino Camp offers an original and exclusive wilderness experience and the possibility of seeing some of the largest free-ranging population of desert-adapted black rhino in Africa. The camp set in a wide valley sometimes flush with grass, has eight large meru-style tents with en-suite bathrooms. A tented dining and living area and plunge pool offers uninterrupted views of the desert and mountains, while extraordinary welwitschia plants dot the plain in front of camp. Activities include rhino tracking on foot and by vehicle with Save the Rhino Trust trackers (an NGO responsible for the conservation of the black rhino in the area), full-day outings with a picnic lunch, birding and nature drives. Other species seen in the area include Hartmann's mountain zebra, giraffe and lion. Desert Rhino Camp is run in conjunction with Save the Rhino Trust so in addition to gaining amazing insight into the ecology and conservation of this area, a portion of guest revenure goes to the Trust and its conservation operations. ... more   less
