I am so glad my friend booked us in here! It was an excellent place to spend a long weekend relaxing and recharging. We saw sunrise from the beach and were lucky to catch moonrise from the terrace. The terrace with a gin and tonic and a book cannot be beat. Except perhaps by an early morning swim in the...

Slightly out of the way of the party scene of Nkhata Bay but easy to access along the beach or avoid, which ever suits. The accommodation ranges from beach huts on the shore to more plush ensuite cabins in the lush grounds. The balcony at the bar and restaurant offers an amazing view of the moonrise over Mozambique which is...

Great swimming, delicious food, cold drinks, and interesting company from around the world. Excellent budget option if you're traveling with your own tent. I think Nkata Bay is the most beautiful (accessible) part of Lake Malawi.

Go and stay with 'Mr Lovely-Jubbly', 'sleep like a baby', and you'll understand what I'm talking about. A great lodge with a terrace overlooking the lake. Make sure you get up early to watch the sunrise over the lake at least once. The food is lovely and the bar is a nice place to relax and plan your next move....

Food also was excellent, the bar and restaurant view to the lake was...

Third trip to Njaya. Little has changed. Staff are excellent, food is great and the atmosphere second to none. Really like the improvements to the bar and dining area. Delighted to be able to get visit the same time as Paul & Collete who were great hosts. The best little lodge in Africa

Njaya is the original lodge at Nkhata Bay, founded 20 years ago by the still-current owner, Paul. It's a good option if you don't want the full-on backpacker vibe of nearby Butterfly Space or Mayoka Village. Food was mostly good, rates are reasonable, and the view over the lake from the attractive bar/dining area are lovely. The two stone-built 'beach...

Had two bites of the Njaya Lodge cherry, first for a few days and then a return one-night stay a week or so later; both very good experiences. Stunning views; great & tasteful design & furnishings in a beautiful lush beach garden. Made to feel very welcomed by Paul & Colette, visiting owners who largely leave the operations to the...

Njaya Lodge - Nkhata Bay - Knacred Fantastic location! Excellent staff, and excellent service. This lodge, which once had fantastic facilities now needs a serious upgrade. 15 years ago the poor workmanship may have been excused as TIA, this now is no longer valid. The fittings are old and some look dangerous (fusebox in one room for example), doors don't...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Njaya Lodge has been run by the same family and many of the same staff since it opened for business on Christmas Day 1993. Over the last 21 years we've built a labour of love, in cooperation with the people of our adopted home, and somewhere we hope you will enjoy spending some time when you're in Malawi Njaya consists of a large airy building housing the Reception Bar and Restaurant, a large expansive terrace. With day beds, sofas and lots of relaxation. The bar serves, cold beers, juices, milkshakes and cocktails, whilst the restaurant serves fantastic, burgers, steaks and fish straight from the lake accompanied by fresh vegetables and salads The terrace overlooks magnificent Lake Malawi stretching across at this widest part, 52 miles to the neigbouring shores of Tanzania and Mozambique. We've built a collection of cottages, chalets and houses spread over lush gardens and terraces that lead down to beautiful Chikale beach, the only beach in Nkhata Bay. There should be something to fit every budget. From comfortable cottages perched over the water, to family houses, and garden chalets all ensuite with four poster beds, fans and views. Or rooms in the Beach House right down on Chikale beach, with twin and triple rooms with four poster beds, stunning views and a wonderful large balcony with shared showers and toilets. Njaya Lodge was a magical spot. The kind of place you could wake up in one morning and realize that you were supposed to be back at work months ago.
