only one night on our tour, but room was great, food very good, atmosphere welcoming, and the sound of the lake waves 10 yards away soothing. Recommended. For our room you have to enjoy climbing steps up and down the hill to bar etc. In England no problem, but in that heat (November) I needed 3 Greens to recover every...

The lodge is lovely, staff friendly and attentive. The problem for us is the beds, the double beds are small. Ok we are quite big but these were the smallest we have seen. Particularly for westerners you need minimum queen size. The singles were fine.

We had a unit that was right over the cliff of Lake Malawi. It was so beautiful and the staff were just wonderful to us! The food was good, the units were beautifully done and comfortable. We stayed 4 nights and left renewed and rested and well taken care of! It is one of our favorite places now and can...

Thank you so much to Paul, Claire, Jordan and the team; Gilbert, Dixon, John, Catherine, Kingston and all. Njaya has been in our hearts since the Millennium and it has been such a joy to return with our 3 children after 16 years. Njaya is a little piece of tranquil paradise and we were welcomed into the family fold beautifully....

Last time I stayed here was a few years ago but it was really nice. Affordable and very laid back place. Very relaxing. The staff are friendly and helpful. I had a flat tire and they helped me find someone to fix it who came to the lodge and patched up my tire. The food may take some time when...

stayed in a beach house a couple of meters from the beach on a lovely, small sandy bay. Beach had nice atmosphere, very friendly & relaxed with no hassle (there was a little 'private' beach for the lodge but as the whole beach was quiet whilst I was there in June/July I didn't end up using it - I guess...

The staff here go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and it’s a lovely place full of character, but this doesn’t make up for the fact that the rooms are very basic and that they'd be considerably improved by a little bit of maintenance. I stayed in the most expensive room (Garden Lodge), and so other chalets...

This review refers only to a dinner visit. Apparently the lodge used to be a very popular place to stay but it seems to have lost a lot of custom to a budget backpackers’ resort a short distance along the lakeshore to the north. I had an excellent dinner here (very tender steak) with colleagues and wished I had been...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Njaya Lodge has been run by the same family and many of the same staff since it opened for business on Christmas Day 1993. Over the last 21 years we've built a labour of love, in cooperation with the people of our adopted home, and somewhere we hope you will enjoy spending some time when you're in Malawi Njaya consists of a large airy building housing the Reception Bar and Restaurant, a large expansive terrace. With day beds, sofas and lots of relaxation. The bar serves, cold beers, juices, milkshakes and cocktails, whilst the restaurant serves fantastic, burgers, steaks and fish straight from the lake accompanied by fresh vegetables and salads The terrace overlooks magnificent Lake Malawi stretching across at this widest part, 52 miles to the neigbouring shores of Tanzania and Mozambique. We've built a collection of cottages, chalets and houses spread over lush gardens and terraces that lead down to beautiful Chikale beach, the only beach in Nkhata Bay. There should be something to fit every budget. From comfortable cottages perched over the water, to family houses, and garden chalets all ensuite with four poster beds, fans and views. Or rooms in the Beach House right down on Chikale beach, with twin and triple rooms with four poster beds, stunning views and a wonderful large balcony with shared showers and toilets. Njaya Lodge was a magical spot. The kind of place you could wake up in one morning and realize that you were supposed to be back at work months ago.
