Upon arrival we had some concerns about the exterior of the historic buildings. But, once inside we found it to be clean, comfortable and friendly. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and the conversation with the two other couples was interesting. We had a front bedroom and the view of the trees and mountains was beautiful. We wanted a homey place we...

The accommodations were charming, clean, and comfy. Our host, Roland, prepared a delicious breakfast that was enjoyed by all. We appreciated being so close to Little Falls and the Mohawk River Valley region. We didn't mind the occasional train that rumbled through the valley during the night, but our friends were less tolerant and saw it as a disturbance.

We decided to stay in a b&b on the spur of the moment and were able to make a reservation at Portobello for the same evening. After a lovely dinner at the Canalside Inn in Little Falls, we returned to Portobello and sat for a while in the adirondack chairs in the back yard enjoying the moonlit night. Roland very...

I am surprised at the the reviews by others about this property. While the reality was not as bad as our first impression, the overall experience was a little unnerving. On arrival, seeing the front of the house in serious need of paint and repair and the asphalt driveway a broken narrow remnant of what once was, I had concern...

We arrived to find a beautiful well appointed home, with a delightful brown barn that was like artwork - we even photographed the barn/shed it was so inspiring. The innkeeper was warm and helpful, the rooms comfortable ,clean and tastefuly decorated. We particuarly enjoyed the breakfast, which was delicious - including homemade bakegoods. Our seven year old daughter especially loved...

After our fourth visit here, we have come to realize that this is a house to be lived in. Two very comfortable seating areas with plenty of interesting reading material are begging you to spend some time and soak in the atmosphere. Perfect home base for day trips but don't overdo it-spend some time at "home".

I love old historic houses--- and staying in them when they have been restored and cared for, is a treat. Roland met us at the door and took care of every wonderful detail for our whole stay, including yummy cookies, and very serious double chocolate brownies. We were up for the opera with cousins of ours, all seniors, and we...
