Absolutely horrible! Welcome to the era of covid 19 travel! With the world on lockdown not being able to go pretty much anywhere for the Fourth of July weekend 2020 ; yes it is right ! 2020 ! (I have not being able to catchup believe it or not) I decided to do whatever was possible and travel to what was available at the time without leaving my home state of New York due to travel restrictions so what better time to see something I always wanted to see; the archipelago located on the St Lawerence River at the border with Canada known as the Thousand Islands, also famous for the namesake salad dressing. It was hard to believe that amidst the plummeting travel industry at the time hotels downtown were outrageously expensive therefore I needed to search for more “budget” friendly accommodations within the area, that’s how I landed at Candlewood Suites, what a fiasco! The property is completely ran down beginning with the chairs at the front desk, although I have nothing to say or complain about the hotel staff which were very accommodating the building itself has way to many issues beginning with bugs inside the room. I had requested immediately to be moved to a different room thinking that this will resolve my problem, I was wrong! The same problem persisted Hotel staff is very attentive, cleanliness is not that impeccable but at least the staff tries to make it up for everything else the property is lacking. Hopefully a year after these factors had changed …
This hotel is great. Staff members are very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and spacious. There is an outside grill to BBQ on with table and chairs to set. This place is very quiet and nice.
Stayed here because it is right off post to help my son get his stuff back to Michigan. Reserved the room on line through Expedia with no problems. Check in was quick and easy, even with the extra paperwork for being a dog. The room had lots of extras. Some of the items were showing a lot of wear. There was a recliner in the room that the arms were worn done and needs to be replaced. The microwave had a broken door switch that the molding was pried half off. Unfortunately we had people above us that wanted to slam drawers forts and stomped til midnight. Told the front desk but she did not care. If you are concerned about security in the parking lot, be aware there is none. The only cameras are for the doors of the hotel.
Needs some well deserved TLC. Very clean room, but some of the furniture is dated. Some by putting a throw over them or doing new upholstery will be nicer. Bill was very helpful, very nice. He did all he could to accommodate or needs.
Room was clean. No breakfast for the price. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. The recliner in the room was well past it expiration date. The only reason we picked this hotel is because it was pet friendly and close to our kids. Would not recommend this hotel or ever stay at it again. FYI. If you have a pet. The price online is not what you get. You will have to pay extra. Online price was 80 and called and it wound up being $108 plus tax plus pet fee. Good luck.
We stayed at this hotel for one night on a last minute get away. The hotel was badly in need of upgrading, which I am told they are in the process of doing. The room looked a bit tired and worn overall, the kitchen was okay and the bathroom was very nice. The bed was very noisy and VERY uncomfortable. The reclining chair in the room was extremely worn, the blackout curtains were water stained and worn, and the seats on the chairs were all dirty looking and stained. The staff were very nice to us but the hotel overall was very unimpressive. It could have been a bit cleaner, the elevator rugs looked like they needed to be vacuumed, Strangely I had read many reviews before staying at this hotel and people mostly seemed to love it. I am not sure if I got the only rundown room and the only broken, uncomfortable bed but I certainly would not go back until they have completed their renovations.…
Firstly let me begin by dispelling a few misconceptions. This hotel is ON BASE and NOT candlewood suits outside of the gate near WALMART. The candlewood on Ft Drum Was only built in November 2018. Its spotlessly clean. The furniture is new. The staff are exceptionally accommodating and friendly. It’s in a beautiful quiet setting. Again... ON Ft Drum. We had my daughters wedding at the Commons and so 30 guests stayed at the hotel. They were all impressed by the value for money, the hot hearty breakfast and the shuttle the hotel arranged for us before and after our event. This hotel and staff superseded all our expectations and I along with our 30 guests give them 5 stars. Thank you Christy and all your staff for making my daughters wedding week end something to treasure forever. This photo was taken from my bedroom window. …
When we went to the room it was smelly and beds weren’t done neatly. Seemed like somebody used it before us. Bathroom door lock was broken and there were spider on the bath tub. All the furniture were old.
Just ok for a basic stay. Kitchen was complete, beds were comfy. Everything was clean. No breakfast and no pool. Staff was friendly. Exterior doors had issues. Room smelled old and musty, at least to us. We checked out after 1 night and stayed somewhere more to our personal liking.
This was very much like the Candlewood Suites I have stayed at in other cities. The room was large, had a kitchenette, refrigerator, stove ect. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows and towels. The hotel is within a short walk of stores and restaurants. It was good to get a walk in after so many hours driving. The staff was friendly and the motel is easy to get to. Overall I had a good overnight stay there.
