We stayed at the Black Dog, and I set it all up. I did not know what to expect since this was our first time doing this. I have heard bad things from people that have gone to a B&B. I can tell you right away, ours was a great experience. Our room was amazing with a jacuzzi tub and... More

I took my cousin to Ellicottville for a girls weekend for her 40th birthday. She had stayed at a few B & B's prior to this excursion, and was not really comfortable with them. She was leary at first of staying in another B & B, but after our experience at the Black Lodge, sheis now a B&B enthusiast! First... More

As a long time B&B lover (US, Canada and Britain), it is the best experience I've ever had staying in a B&B. The Black Dog is comfortable and extremely well kept, the grounds are gorgeous, the food is terrific and imaginitive. Linda and Rick are outgoing, fun, and accommodating...the house is set up to walk in, take your shoes off... More

Once again we had a great stay. Loved the homey feel and Mac and Maggie not to mention owner Linda. We felt comfy with Debbie also. Really liked her and hit it off with her too. It's like we have known them our whole life. Won't stay any place else but at the Black Dog B&B. Can't wait to go... More

Had a great time in Ellicottville and it all started at the Black Dog Lodge. Rick & Linda were very hospitable and helpful. They recommended some great restaurants and even let their dog Mac lead us on a snow shoe hike through their beautiful property! The breakfast was amazing and we truly enjoyed the fireplace in the gathering room. Can't... More

We stayed from a Sunday to a monday and the place is beautiful, very well maintained and the rooms are gorgeous many to choose from and all the anemities of home. We stayed in the master suite which was cozy but yet super spacious heater floors in bathroom with jacuzzi tub, walk in closets, gas fire places, full kitchen, direct... More

Spent two evenings at the Black Dog Lodge. I have nothing bad to say whatsoever. Clean, fresh, beautiful house and perfect rooms. Stayed in the Scottish Room. Sat by the fire in the living room with my wife. Beautiful comfortable furniture and cozy atmosphere. Linda was a perfect hostess . . . friendly, professional, and attentive to all of our... More

Stayed in the Dog House which is located in the basement. Has no windows and was extremely moldy and smelled awful. Dehumidifier ran continuously-could not even hear tv because it was so loud. Told owner of allergy to mold and concern for the lack of ventiliation/windows in room and nothing was offered ...not another room or refund. Unprofessional, dishonest and inconsiderate....took... Had an excellent time there! We went for my cousins wedding and decided to stay at the BandB for a roof over our heads. Never did we think we would enjoy it so much and be so excited to go back and relax that we left the wedding early. Amazing breakfast in the morning and the owners we soo kind.... More

We stayed in the "Dog House", which is actually a self-contained apartment located in the basement of the building (which isn't so apparent from the photos). As such, it doesn't have any windows, and it smelled musty (and a dehumidifier in the corner spoke to the dampness, although to be fair the region did have torrential rain just before our... More

“Be sure to mention if you're new to the B&B experience and want a more isolated room. The Scottish room is off the kitchen & dining room where guests congregate early in the a.m.”

“Rick and Linda are fantastic hosts, and will even come into town to pick you up after dinner if you've had a few drinks. Book a room here, you'll love it.”

“take a downstairs room. We stayed in the Scottish room. Great views. Right off the deck. Off the kitchen so can get a little noisy in the morning. Beauty's room is off the gathering room at the other end of the house and looked very nice and private. Or you can always spring for the Master suite! Upstairs rooms were right next to each other and looked a little smaller. We didn't see the Dog House.”
