I stay at this hotel every time I visit New York. It is a hidden gem, yes, in the middle of the hood. Listen...is the area sketchy? Maybe. It depends on your NYC tolerance. If you're not into understanding how the Bronx works, don't stay here. It's NYC. Don't bother people and they won't bother you. However, this location is convenient to everything, streer parking isn't an issue, rooms are super nice and large, breakfast is free, and the staff is AMAZING! I have never had any issues here. I look forward to each and every visit and my experience has been consistent. This will keep me coming back every time!
This hotel is a wonderful little Gem. Simple breakfast included. 4 star for sure - until you meet Johnathan the front desk guy. His attitude cost you 2 stars from me. What else is he doing to tarnish your business?
This hotel is a fine place to stay - a competative price when compared to Manhattan hotel prices and is situated approx 15-20 mins subway ride to Times Square if you get the express trains. The room was spacious and clean, bathroom ample and TV had a wide selection of channels. The breakfast was enough to start the day and was served from 0700-1000 each day. Rooms cleaned every other due following COVID guidelines. Free tea/coffee/hot choc available all day and night. The hotel is very good and hence why I have given it 5 stars. The area in which it is found is quite sketchy and quite noisy outside by night. There was likited noise within the hotel itself. This outside noise (car stereos and loud conversations did not detract from our own hotel stay however but may be an issue for other folks. There is a Dunkin’ Donut store opposite the hotel and a bearby Burger King and McDonalds. The hotel staff were all very pleasant and polite.…
The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. Our room was big and I loved the high ceilings. Excellent service! We were able to park our rental car nearby in a secure parking garage (very helpful). I was visiting colleges with my son and this location was very convenient.
I stayed at the Opera Hotel from March 23 to March 25. I traveled from Philadelphia to be near my daughter when she gave birth. I needed a hotel close to the hospital . After some major research I decided on the Opera House. The fact that this was once an old opera house and I took up Opera in College, had me intrigued. This hotel is the Bronx’s Best kept secret. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff was very nice and welcoming at all times. The continental breakfast was a treat. After going through an all day & night delivery, I couldn’t wait to get to the hotel for some much needed rest. I was not disappointed. The bed and pillows were super comfy. The only draw back was, I needed a staff member to adjust my t.v . and he entered my room without a mask. I was upset. I put a mask on. Even though the young man assured me he was vaccinated. This did not sit well with me. I too am fully vaccinated . I have family members who were fully vaccinated and boostered , and they still contact Covid and became gravely ill . So for future references, please mask up when entering a guests room. I was nervous all night thinking that I might have been potentially exposed to Covid. Otherwise I had a very pleasant stay. Looking forward to returning to the Opera House soon.…
I stayed at Opera House from March 15 to March 21, 2022. The entire stay at the front desk was super pleasant and very accommodating. In addition the front desk staff, the rest of staff at the hotel was very accommodating. One gentleman in particular, I believe his name is Eddie, always made it a priority to ask me if I needed anything when passing him in the hallways. One day, I had to find a restroom in the hotel because one of my kids was taking a shower and my diabetic bladder wasn’t gonna wait. So, I leave the room to find a restroom on one of the floors. When I get to the elevator Eddie was standing there, but notice I was in a hurry and needed a restroom. Instead of just pointing, this gentleman sprinted down the stairs and guided me to the restrooms doors to make sure I found it. Now that’s customer service. Lol Additionally, the hotel was always clean, conveniently located to public transportation and the rooms are huge.…
I came to visit a relative from out of town that was staying at this hotel. It’s a beautiful hotel. The rooms are very nice. I had some questions regarding parking and called the front desk. The customer service was excellent. Jonathan at the front desk was AMAZING!!
So, I just got back from NYC and from having stayed at the Opera House Hotel. The hotel is really nice and clean inside. The rooms are fairly spacious with high ceilings and come equipped with a mini fridge and microwave. The staff is so nice and accommodating. Having said that, DON'T STAY HERE. The location is downright apocalyptic. This is where every exaggerated New York ghetto scene in 70s cinema was set, only it's real. My family was afraid to leave the hotel, it was like "The Walking Dead" on the sidewalks. That was during the day. At night? Constant sirens and street noise. Yes, I mean CONSTANT. There's no getting any sleep here. There's nothing to do in the area, even if you're brave enough to venture out. In five days I spent $1,000 + in Lyft and Taxis just to get to where everything is in Manhattan. You're not saving any money staying here. The staff and management try so hard, but you can't get away from the dirty, depressing, loud element all around. It's like they took a nice hotel and dropped it into the bowels of Hell.…
Awful place -no parking - unprofessional staff who are downright sarcastic and nasty the staff was not helpful at all. And would rather argue with you than find a solution ( dirty room ) Avoid staying here because it is NOT a nice place - hostile , not hospitable
Excellent hotel in the middle of the Bronx. Very modern and clean. Very nice staff, especially the supervisor Janece! Solved a booking problem very smart and made us happy! I wanted to spend my birthday in NY and the hotel is great for that! Very authentic area, to Manhattan 15min by u train. Absolutely recommend!!!
