My wife and I spent two nights in the Xigera Camp on this trip to Botswana. This is a really beautiful camp in magnificent settings. You reach your tent on elevated wooden walk-ways. The tents are beautiful. Great beds. Really nice bathrooms and also an outdoor shower. The communal area is large, really well designed and cosy. Great decks, including...

We spent 3 nights here. A really beautiful camp in a wonderful setting. Beautiful tented rooms with wonderful views. Great game drives and, especially, mokoro excursions (thanks to Rider and Brendan!). The staff are wonderful and the food amazing. Great company at meals (thank you Miss D!). Wonderful wildlife - especially birds but also leopard with cubs, a courting couple...

This is a great place to come but if you are coming to see the Delta in all its glory do your research. WE had no option but to go in January. The Delta is at its best in Winter, From March.April Onwards when the rains come from Angola. Dec is the wet season but the rains do not fill...

Thank you for your wonderful review, we are glad to see that eventhough the waterways were not in full flood you were still able to enjoy your time in camp. A large area of the Delta has permanent water year round, so camps such as Xigera with access to permanent shallow floodplains and channels offer the quintessential Okavango experience –...

First time to Africa, traveling with our son and daughter-in-law. Duane met us at Maun airport and since it was a beautiful day, flew us in at 500 feet so we could see animals and the transition to the Delta. The second of our four Wilderness camps in Botswana. While we didn't have much luck with the game viewing at our first camp, it couldn't have started better here. Upon arrival and within a minute from the airstrip, we saw a leopard dragging its kill - an adult male lechwe - to hide among the bush. It's a pleasant surprise...

Our recent visit to Botswana comprised 2 camps in the Okavango Delta (including Xigera) and 1 just outside. We have been able to compare each camp with our own experiences elsewhere and also draw upon fellow travellers’ thoughts (you spend a lot of time together travelling bouncing around the bush). The safari experience is greatly influenced by the amount of...

What a delightful review, thank you allblack-screen for your wonderfully insightful and concise comments. Almost 600 bird species have been recorded in Botswana and the diversity and density of waterbirds in the Okavango Delta is staggering. The mopane woodlands of the Linyanti and the Central Kalahari are other key components to any Botswana birding safari. The key to successful good...

Nigeria Camp and the other Botswana camps of Wilderness Safaris provide an extraordinary experience -- comfortable tented camps, animals seen of safari rides and in the camp -- elephants right outside your tent. The accommodations are quite comfortable, food is very good, and the staff in friendly and helpful.

This camp is situated in the most beautiful surroundings. Right in the middle of the delta. The atmosphere is wonderful and the guides are great. And don't miss the mokoro trips! The perfect mix of peacefulness, quietness, beauty and adventure. The camp offers a very good variation of game drive, mokoro and boat trips, and we saw wonderful animals.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Deep in the Delta, surrounded by crystal-clear channels of water and lush vegetation, Xigera Camp is the quintessential Okavango experience. This blue-green world is home to a number of water-loving Okavango 'specials' including spotted-necked otter, Pel's fishing-owl, wattled crane and the Delta's highest concentration of the elusive sitatunga antelope. Situated on the aptly-named Paradise Island, the almostyear-round water makes this the ideal camp for exploring by motor boat and mokoro (dugout canoe) - an idyllic connection to a bygone era that allows silent and tranquil progress across waterlily-dotted waters. •10 tents (1 family) • mokoro • motorboat • game drives (water dependent) ... more   less
