We stayed a couple of nights camping here. The service was excellent as we had had a small issue on the way the the Lodge, the staff helped us out and everything turned out well. Due to a fire last July the main restaurant is currently a Bedoin tent but the food is good. The camp sites have flushing toilets...

Unfortunately we were not told that no more existis reception, pool, dining room, etc. at the lodge. These places were burned down and in the advertisement of the lodge they still appear in the photos. Only after we made the payment and I contacted the Lodge staff, on my initiative, they told me that these places no more exists ...

Looking at the pics on booking.com we were looking forward to a 'luxory tent camp' with an outdoor pool and superior tent accommodation. On arrival it turned out to be one of the biggest rip offs I ever experienced. There was a fire in July 2016 that destroyed the pool, eating area and reception. The tents were still in place...

The staff was very friendly. The camp was kept neat, being cleaned every day. There was enough water available to add to the comfort of the facility. Only downside was an unpleasant smell coming from sewage tank.

This was our first experience of a dry concession. Botswana is essentially located in a desert, with the miracle of a delta in the middle of it. The diversity is profound. Mankwe is a good example of this. Situated on the border of the Moremi, it is a good gateway to the Okavango delta. The campsite was clean and well...

We stopped hear for the night with our tour group of 10. The staff were very welcoming & accommodating. We were shown to our clean comfortable lodges before returning to reception to relax in the pool with a few beers. The food was fantastic & it topped off our night when the staff sung & danced for us around the...

We camped, the website promised a pool, and full use of the facilities. The campsite also teased with promises of running water. In actuality the water is heavily saline, there is no pool, and the facilities (a tent with some tables) were about 5 minutes drive from the campsite. The price (given the none existent facilities) was outrageous. You are...

On arrival at the camp the stink was unbearable due to the septic tanks being open. If the hyenas open the tanks up then make another plan to prevent them doing this. Also no hot water to shower. all other places have donkeys that work well. Toilets and basins broken and not working.

OK, due to a devastating fire the reception was none existent but as we knew which campsite we were allocated we bumbled our own way there. 1st campsite was a disaster but the following morning help arrived & with no to do we were helped in moving to a new site! Really beautiful and with our own resident friendly hornbill!...

We stayed for 2 nights on the campsite Camelthorn 1. Bucket shower, toilet, sink and water tap, hyenas visiting us in the night, checking the bin. Campers are also welcome to bar and pool at the lodge. It was a great stay!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated between the Moremi Game Reserve and the Chobe National Park, Mankwe Moremi Game ReserveMankwe Bush Lodge is an ideal gateway to exploring this area. Moremi is undoubtedly one of the most famous Parks in Africa. Moremi Game Reserve is the only officially protected area of the Okavango Delta, and as such holds tremendous scientific, environmental and conservation importance. Moremi Game Reserve is situated in the central and eastern areas of the Okavango, and includes the Moremi Tongue and Chief's Island, boasting one of the richest and most diverse ecosystems on the continent. This makes for spectacular game viewing and bird watching, including all major naturally occurring herbivore and carnivore species in the region, and over 400 species of birds, many migratory and some endangered. Both Black and White Rhino have recently been re-introduced, now making the reserve a 'Big Five' destination. Contained within an area of approximately 3900 sq. kms, where land and Delta meet to create an exceedingly picturesque preserve of floodplains - either seasonally or perennially wet, waterways, lagoons, pools, pans, grasslands and riparian, riverine and mopane forests. This terrain makes driving Moremi's many loops and trails both delightful and, at times, totally inspiring. Overlooking the bush and mopane forest, Mankwe's tents offer comfortable accommodation. The 10 safari tents are set on wooden decks overlooking a small valley. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with shower, wash basin and flush toilet. The camp is run on solar power. Walk in tents are furnished with either two x twin beds or a double bed, chair, bed side tables, water pourer, glasses, safari chairs on patio, steel clothes and hanging space, large open mosquito gauze windows, and front door. Towels and bathroom guest amenities are provided. (please bring swimming towels). Trips can be arranged between Mankwe Bush Lodge and the Mboma Boat Station up into the Okavango Delta, offering the visitor a unique safari tour with a full day's game viewing in between. Or combine a stay at Mankwe with a game drive tour of Moremi, and an overnight at Xobega Island Camp - offering a true Okavango Delta water based experience. ... more   less
