We just returned from our 3 night stay at Kanana. We saw leopards, lions, and cheetahs along with a lot of other animals. The early morning coffee, tea times and sundowners stops and all the meals and drinks were so fun. It is a very special place. The rooms are very pretty and they do all your laundry. You need to fly in to this beautiful area. I highly recommend this place.

Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our trip to Botswana. The 'tent' was very comfortable with a lovely view over the grasslands . Once the the flood water arrives this would be underwater. The staff were always on hand and very helpful. The food was very good and plentiful. Our guide Samson was excellent and we saw masses of game, including a leopard with a kill on our first day there. The mokoro boat trip was an amazing experience. The night spent in the tree house under the stars was another experience not to be missed. You do need to book this ahead of your visit.

My husband and I along with our daughter and son in law spent three wonderful nights at Kanana as part of a safari trip to Botswana in early May. Our guide Lukas was an expert and a delight to spend 10 hours a day with. We saw literally hundreds of animals. To say this was a life changing experience would be an understatement. The lodge was beautiful and well kept with every detail attended to daily. The food was excellent and the staff very attentive to every need. Other reviews reference spotty wifi however it was more than adequate for sending a quick note home. If you are going to be dependent on wifi during a trip like this you should probably be doing something else and do a safari some other time. This is an all consuming experience that needs your full attention! We recommend the sleep out on the platform about 10 km from the camp! Thanks to all at Kanana, especially Lukas, for a fantastic experience!

Amazing spectacle of birds, animals and awesome scenery. Our guide Samson was excellent and kept finding new birds (and some spectacular animal sightings in between). The camp has a special bit of magic - difficult to describe but will be remembered for a long time. While water was low (mid-Dec) we still went in mokoros. The low water in the pans brings in an unbelievable spectacle of pelicans, heron, storks - the sky was always full of birds. Great camp staff - especially the hopscotch in the firepit. Great for kids.

Kanana Camp is situated in NW Botswana and is professionally run by the ever happy and smiling Lebo. The staff Darien,Leungo,Petrus,Hope ,SB, Chips,Robbie,Sam, Owner and many more made our stay magical! They all made you feel as if you were the only people there . A very special mention to our guide Owner who made all our wishes apart from a unicorn come true ! Such an accomplished guide ! We requested all sorts of game and he delivered. The leopard took some tracking but eventually he found one for us ! A real star. Beautiful rooms with wonderful surroundings. Thank you all again.

Pros: Samson was our guide... and all guests spend the most time with their guide... with morning and afternoon game drives, mokoro, motor boat, and walking safari... you'll end up spending bw 6-10 hours/day with your designated guide. Samson was excellent... he was knowledgeable, amiable, flexible, professional, and accommodating. I had to do a late evening business phone call one night, and he stayed with me at the main dining area patiently while I did that, I never felt rushed at all. And thanks to him we saw tons of wild animals up close and personal. Thanks Samson! Tuso was our camp host... he too was great... welcoming... made sure that despite the fact that we were in the African Bush, we felt at home and were comfortable. This was the first of three camps we stayed at and it was awesome. That said, these are some possible areas for improvement (and mind you, these apply to all three camps we stayed at, so certainly no knock on Kanana): 1. It was a bit too hot to sleep in our tent cabins during the midday siesta, some extras floor fans would likely be a cheap yet effective fix for that. 2. The wifi in the main dining area worked only intermittently. I do understand the purpose and benefit of guests "unplugging from the matrix," but it's 2021 and some guests do need reliable internet connectivity... if the camps can't offer that then they may lose some guests who might o/w come. And I would recommend a wifi range booster so that the wifi extends to the tent cabins... cheap yet effective. Yes I would have used that for limited and important work, but I also would have liked to look up things that I was curious about during my trip... history of the area/country, facts about the animals, weather, etc. Tip: If you get the tent cabin nearest the main dining area you may get some sporadic wifi signal there Overall Kanana was superb and we'd highly recommend it!

My husband and I were finally able to enjoy our belated honeymoon in June, and we're so grateful we could go to Africa for a safari! We spent 4 nights here at Kanana Camp in Botswana's Okavango Delta and it was seriously magical. You are completely in the middle of the Delta and it's you and the wildlife. The camp itself blends beautifully into nature, while still feeling luxurious. The tents are definitely more like "glamping" than actually being in tents, which suited us! We really enjoyed the food - everything was delicious and also authentic to the local cuisines. The staff were so warm and made the stay really relaxing, and our game drive guide was extremely knowledgeable. A real expert tracker! The game drives were of course the highlight of this trip. The Delta itself is stunning, and on each drive you'll see a good amount of action whether it be hippos, giraffes, elephant, etc. The highlight for us were the pride of lion that typically spent time near the camp. Incredible seeing them each day and really getting a sense of their patterns and lifestyle. Unbelievable how close we could get to them - blew our minds! Being on the Delta, we also enjoyed some boat rides which was a nice change up from the game drives. You could see things from a totally different perspective when on the boat, and get much closer to hippos and crocodiles! We went in early June which is the beginning of winter in Botswana. The weather changes are dramatic, so in the early morning when you first go out for drives it is quite cold, and then by midday very warm. LAYERS are the key! I wouldve never imagined we'd be in puffy jackets in June, but they were a lifesaver, seriously. Dress warm and layer up, and you'll be in great shape.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at Kanana this June 2021. The physical plant is just lovely. Service and cuisine are top tier. The game drives, water and land are totally natural and wild. Viewing 2 leopards and a large lion pride with 8 cubs provided especially memorable moments. If you are looking for a 5 star venue in one of the best safari locations in the world, stay at Kanana, highly recommended.

We spent 3 nights at Kanana at the beginning of our honeymoon, then transferred to a Ker & Downey sister camp, Shinde, for 3 more nights. Even in the dry season, Kanana was beyond superb. It was our favorite of the two camps, but only in tiny ways. We mostly did land activities, which were great, plus the mokoro to the heronry which was breathtaking! We saw unbelievable wildlife, day and night. Our guide Robi was more than a guide: he felt like our old friend, showing us around his home. Just the three of us watching the sunset felt so comfortable. We spent one night on the sleep-out deck, which was indescribable. The stars, the sounds, the breeze... if the goal of safari is to make humans feel their place in the cycle of creation, nothing does it like spending a night in the Okavango with nothing but a mosquito net between you and the wild. We loved that they served Botswanian food, not European. So delicious. The 24/7 solar power and green water treatment system were much appreciated. But as everyone says, the staff are what make a place unforgettable. They were so kind and genuine and welcoming of everyone, including us, an interracial gay American couple on our honeymoon.
