For us the last of five Botswana "lodges" and pehaps the best. Family-owned and run. Extraordinarily welcoming and friendly even by the very high Botswanian standards. Very comfortable private accommodation, delicious food (and drink),good sightings alround but the lion-spotting was fantastic and pleasantly scary. A unique point was the presence of a Bushman tracker of demonstrably great skill. We'll be...

This was the last of four safari lodges we stayed at in Botswana. Because it is family owned and because it was in the Kalahari, it was quite different than our Okavango Delta experiences. The room was large, really two rooms, and a bit funky. The doors didn't shut all the way, there were a couple of leaks when it...

Thanks for forgiving the lodge its quirkiness! The bats are not so easy to deal with but the leaks and door can certainly be corrected! Nimsi and Nishka thank you for your kind comments.

We have spent 2 extraordinary days at deception valley lodge together with Jaco. The search to the lion pride and afterwards the lonesome lion were unique. The testimony of the bushmen were so refreshing and insightful. We highly recommend this place. Olivier & Sybille de GROOTE

We were fortunate enough to experience the guiding skills of Braam, the owner/guide from Deception Valley Lodge, although we unfortunately did not get to stay there. Although we will soon! We were staying at another lodge and had the fortune of Braam from DVL coming to guide us and show us the Kalahari in full bloom - his intimate knowledge...

Not a "corporate" lodge. Family run with knowledge and committment and it shows. lions roar most nights from the waterhole in front of the lodge and Nemsi the tracker was amazing and he and Jaku are a great combination, able to track or find birds, game and predators so much better than other lodges we stayed. Bushman experience excellent. Staff...

The people, the food (and you won't find better anywhere), the cabins, the animals the game drives......everything we could wish for. Do take the walk with the bushmen., Sip wine while you watch giraffes drink at the water hole. Excellent experience. Thank you.

I can only add to what some of the other reviewers have said, this is an extraordinary place in the Kalahari with a very knowledgeable owner who cares about his land and the wildlife which depends on the water he provides for them. We stayed at DVL, a privat game reserve, for 3 nights and I have nothing but praise...

I have just returned from a stay at DVL, and I have to say that it was the experience of a lifetime! Jaco and Niska, as well as Jaco's parents, were all so friendly and caring. Both the food and accommodation were outstanding. The twice daily game drives were exhilarating. I would highly recommend staying at DVL if you want...

The people who own the Lodge and the staff who run it are truly exceptional. I was there for 2 nights and my main interest was in birding. Jacob, my guide, shares my love of birding and we had a wonderful time, especially looking at small birds that I would never see on a regular safari. Watching the animals come...

Can't say enough about every aspect of our stay: the sere natural beauty and soul of the Kalahari, superbly decorated and comfortable individual suites, wonderful food, delightful staff who made us feel more like guests than clients. Most of all,Jako, the host/owner/guide, had impressive and extensive knowledge about animals, history, and just about everything else! He gave us endless personal attention, answering...
